DO YOU NEED TO GET DRESSED TO STAY AT HOME

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a bright blue lace-up hoodie with a pair of dark jeggings and white Sperry sneakers. I give thanks every day for the internet and cell phones. I am so thankful that even while we are in quarantine, we can still feel connected through social media, phone calls, FaceTime, ZOOM, etc. Those who are under strict quarantine don’t have to feel so isolated and cut off from the world, and they can see and talk to their friends and loved ones. Today, I “needed” to get out of the house for just a little bit, so I hitched a ride with Joe as he went to the store to pick up a few supplies.

Instead, I sat in the parking lot and did some people watching. It gave me a great reason to put on some makeup ( I  hadn’t in a couple of days), and I felt soooo much better. It is funny what a little paint and powder will do for your psyche. I’ve been good about my skincare routines, but there are a few days when the makeup has gone by the wayside. I also added some sunless tanner since I will be showing my legs in a try-on session that will be this week. Just that tiny bit of color made me feel so much better! The CALM app is something that my daughter likes to listen to as she goes to sleep each night. If you have been doing something that makes you feel better, please share it with the rest of us. Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a bright blue hoodie with white lacesHave any of you wondered if you need to get dressed if you are going to stay at home? The answer is, yes! Like putting on makeup, this helps to make you feel better about yourself. It is a simple task that helps you to feel like you accomplished something. So much of this whole mess is out of our control, but this is something that we can control. Get up, make your bed, wash your face, get dressed and put on your makeup! That is an order. Lol!

I bet a lot of you remember seeing this top last week. This gorgeous blue terry lace-up hoodie was one of my QVC finds that I showed you in this post.  I mentioned in that video that I thought this top would look great with jeans, so I decided to show you that I was correct. Can you see me patting myself on the back? Lol! I can’t wait to also wear this with a pair of white jeans or shorts because you know that it will look fabulous and so springy.

This top has that relaxed yet put-together vibe. I think that the large lace-up tie is what gives it this look. I love how the white pops off of the blue and how it brings your eye up to your face. A 3/4 sleeve is my preferred sleeve length because it is the most flattering. I am wearing a medium in this top, and it is still roomy and comfortable. This top is on clearance at 50% off, so don’t fool around and let your size sell out. Here is the link.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a pair of dark jeggings and white Sperry sneakers. I am wearing a pair of Wit & Wisdom jeans that I recently purchased. I have fallen in love with this brand of jeans, and they fit and feel like a dream. They hug you so tightly, but they don’t feel tight if that is even possible. These are a jegging, so they are supposed to fit tighter than regular jeans. The website suggested to go down one size, so I am wearing a size 8 instead of my usual size 10. If you would rather your jeans not fit this tightly, then order your normal size, and you should be fine. I wore these jeans un-cuffed today (the inseam is 30″), but if you would like to see how they look cuffed, then check out this post. Here is the link to these jeans, and they are on sale for only $48.00.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing white Sperry sneakers. I love these Sperry sneakers. Anything that is easy to slip on is my kind of shoe. My mother told me that she was worried about the shoes being white and not being able to keep them clean. There is a product called NeverWet that you can spray on your shoes, and it is supposed to prevent liquids from penetrating the material for 24 hours, and that includes mud. And, I am sure that almost all of you have used Scotchguard before, and I bet that product would also work to help keep your shoes whiter longer.

I ordered these sneakers once before, but the sizing was waaay off, so I had to send them back. I ended up ordering a 1/2 size smaller than I usually wear, and they fit perfectly now. These shoes will be great to wear all summer long, and they come in several other colors. Here is the link to the sneakers.

I have an Active Hydration Body Replenish that I would love to surprise them with, so if you have a healthcare worker in your family, shout them out. That way, we can all cheer for them, and maybe they will be the lucky winner of this luxurious cream. I will be announcing the winner on tomorrow’s blog post, so be sure to enter your friend, daughter, cousin, neighbor, etc. by going to this post (here) and leaving a comment

I have to share a poem that my friend Dawn posted yesterday on Facebook:
Poem written in 1869 by Kathleen O’Meara: reprinted during 1919 Spanish Flu Pandemic. This is Timeless….

And people stayed at home
And read books
And listened
And they rested
And did exercises
And made art and played
And learned new ways of being
And stopped and listened
More deeply
Someone meditated, someone prayed
Someone met their shadow
And people began to think differently
And people healed.
And in the absence of people who
Lived in ignorant ways
Dangerous, meaningless and heartless,
The earth also began to heal
And when the danger ended and
People found themselves
They grieved for the dead
And made new choices
And dreamed of new visions
And created new ways of living
And completely healed the earth
Just as they were healed.

Keep your mindset positive. We will get through this! If you know of someone who could use an extra prayer, send me a private message on FB, Instagram, or by email (taniastephens12@gmail.com), and I’ll put them on my list. One more prayer couldn’t hurt!

  1. Always love your posts….And the poem. I can’t get it out of my mind! So very perfect for back then AND now! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I’m not trying to point out any wrongdoing here but was told by someone else that the poem posted above was actually written last month by a contemporary writer named Catherine M. O’Meara. I found this on the Internet:

This poem was not written by someone named Kathleen O’Mara in 1869 and then reprinted in 1919. (Side note: The “Spanish Flu” pandemic is referred to on the CDC website as the “1918 pandemic,” not the “1919 pandemic.”) This text is actually a modern-day poem written during the COVID-19 coronavirus disease pandemic by author Catherine M. O’Meara.

O’Meara posted this poem to her blog The Daily Round on March 16, 2020. The poem went viral, racking up thousands of shares as it circulated on social media.

I still love it though and am so glad you shared! ❤️

  3. My daughter-in-law, Jenn, is a pharmacist working in San Diego and her Mother, Normie, is a nurse working in a San Diego hospital. I would like to nominate both of these brave, unassuming, hard working ladies.

  4. Charlcy Green says:

I love that blue top! And those jeans and shoes are really fabulous! My husband and I are laying cement in a pond today so I can have cattails and Lilly pads and fish, and hear a waterfall on our land. But even today I put my makeup on! It does make you feel better!

  5. Love the poem and photo!

  6. Tania,a while back you talked about a movie you had watched on Jesus. I can’t remember if it was only on the life of Jesus or also included some Old Testament stories. I meant to write it down but must have accidently deleted my email from you. Could you tell me the name and possible link(s) to watch,,,,, was it 1 movie or a series? Thanks!!! Could you email me the info?

    1. Julia Purtill says:

Thank you for posting g each day, it is so nice to hear from other women during this crises. Our church members say a prayer for our Nation every day at 5:16 pm James 5:16 says the prayers of the righteous are heard (my loose translation!) prayer is powerful!

  7. My daughter is a Veterinarian. Like people, pets need care too. Her office is always open and they practice social distancing by having the people wait in their cars while the staff bring the pets into the office. Special thanks to all of the healthcare workers including Veterinarians.
    Love the poem.

  8. Love the blue top on you! I have been getting up and getting ready for work just like normal (I have been working from home the last 3 weeks – heading into week 4). I actually get dressed in my yoga clothes and do yoga during what would have been my commute, then I get dressed for work (casual Friday style) put on my make up and go downstairs, make a cup of tea and go to work. I am really loving the yoga as a way to clear my mind (bohobeautiful.life). Thanks for continuing the blog and for creating a pleasant distraction from what is going on around us. 🙂

  9. Our family gathered on a group video chat yesterday(Sunday) since normally we would see each other at church we talked and prayed together as we would have at church!
I can’t keep white shoes clean I’ll have to try the never wet thanks!

  10. Teresa Benda says:
