Travel Tech Organizers to Keep Cords and Chargers Untangled

I don’t know when packing for a trip started requiring an entire bag of electronics, but here we are. Between phones, watches, earbuds, tablets, chargers, and all of their various cords, I feel like I need a packing list just for the things that need to be plugged in.

And somehow, no matter how neatly I wind up those cords before leaving home, they manage to tie themselves into knots before I reach my destination. Then I’m digging through my carry-on looking for one tiny charging cord while pulling out three others I don’t need.

So, I started looking for a better system.

I don’t fly all that often, but I do travel by car to see my parents every five or six weeks, and I still end up packing what feels like a small electronics department. Between my phone, watch, earbuds, tablet, chargers, cords, and a battery bank, there is a lot to keep up with even when I’m not going anywhere near an airport.

That’s really why I started looking for an organizer. I want one place where I can keep everything together, grab it when I’m packing the car, and know I haven’t left an important charger sitting on the kitchen counter.

I’ll tell you right up front that I don’t own any of these travel tech organizers yet. I’m shopping for one myself and comparing the different styles to figure out what will actually work for the cords, charging blocks, earbuds, and other electronics I normally travel with.

What I want is pretty simple: I want everything together, I want to be able to see what I packed, and I want to pull out one cord without bringing four others along with it. That apparently isn’t too much to ask. Lol!

What I’m Looking for in a Travel Tech Organizer

Since I’m shopping for myself, I started thinking about what would actually make one organizer more useful than another.

I want separate spots for cords so they don’t all end up in one big pile, enough depth to hold charging blocks and a portable charger, and pockets that let me see the smaller things without emptying the whole case.

Size matters, too. I don’t want an organizer so large it takes up half my weekender tote or personal item, but if it’s too thin to hold the actual chargers, it doesn’t solve much of a problem.

With that in mind, here are the travel tech organizers and accessories that caught my attention.

Travel Tech Organizers to Keep Everything in One Place

CALPAK Tech Organizer

The CALPAK Tech Organizer was one of the first ones that caught my eye because it looks much nicer than the typical black electronics case. It has multiple interior pockets, padded compartments, and mesh sections that should make it easier to see what you’ve packed.

At 9.5″ x 7″ x 1.25″, this is one of the slimmer options on my list. I could see that being a plus if you mostly travel with charging cords, earbuds, and smaller accessories.

My hesitation would be the depth. If you’re packing several bulky wall chargers or a larger power bank, I’d pay attention to how much you normally carry before choosing a thinner case.

BentoStack Charge 8000

The BentoStack Charge 8000 is different from the other organizers I found because it combines stackable storage for tech accessories with an 8,000 mAh power bank and wireless charging.

The idea appeals to me because it could potentially replace a couple of separate items in your bag. Instead of packing an organizer plus another portable charger, you’re combining storage and backup power.

I would consider this one more of a travel-tech system than a basic cord case, so it may make the most sense for someone who really wants to streamline what they’re carrying.

NISHEL Electronics Travel Organizer

The NISHEL Electronics Travel Organizer Cord Case is probably closest to what I pictured when I started looking for an organizer.

It has separate areas for cords, chargers, adapters, and other electronics instead of one large compartment where everything can migrate back together.

That’s important to me because my whole reason for buying one is to stop digging. I don’t want one cord in my purse, another in the suitcase, earbuds in a side pocket, and the charger I actually need somewhere at the very bottom.

I also like the idea of keeping my entire charging setup together. When I get ready to travel, I could grab one case instead of walking through the house trying to remember which chargers I need.

FYY Electronic Organizer

The FYY Electronic Organizer is another option if you want separate storage without a large case taking up a lot of room.

I could see something this size working especially well in a personal item or tote, where you might want your phone charger, earbuds, adapters, and portable charger within easy reach.

That’s another thing I’ve decided while working on this post: whatever organizer I buy is going in my carry-on or personal item. A charging cord isn’t very helpful when it’s cruising along underneath the airplane in your checked suitcase. Lol!

Small Neoprene Tech Pouch

The Small Neoprene Tech Pouch is worth a look if you travel light and don’t need a large organizer with a dozen different pockets and compartments. This small neoprene pouch could be handy for the few electronics you want close at hand instead of packed away with everything else.

I could see keeping something like this in my handbag with my phone charger, charging cord, earbuds, or a small battery bank. That way, if my phone starts getting low while we’re on the road, I don’t have to dig through luggage in the back of the car for the charger I packed so carefully.

It could also work alongside a larger tech organizer. The bigger case could hold everything you need once you arrive, while this smaller pouch keeps the essentials within easy reach during the trip.

Keep Travel Cords From Turning Into a Knot

Even with a good organizer, I don’t particularly want several loose cords sharing the same pocket. That’s where these little cable ties could help.

The Tounee Reusable Silicone Magnetic Cable Ties come in two sizes and are designed to keep individual cords bundled. Honestly, I think I may need these regardless of which organizer I choose.

You can carefully wind every cord before putting it in your suitcase, and somehow they’ll still come out looking like they’ve been wrestling each other for three hours. Keeping each cord bundled separately should make it much easier to see what you’re grabbing and keep the extras from coming along for the ride.

They’re also inexpensive enough that you could keep several with your travel gear instead of borrowing whatever twist tie happens to be lying in the junk drawer.

Travel Chargers That Could Help Cut Down on Cord Clutter

The other approach is simply taking fewer chargers. If one charging device can handle several of the electronics you’re already packing, you’ll have fewer cords and charging blocks to pack in the first place.

The 3-in-1 Foldable Wireless Charging Station can give compatible devices one central place to charge instead of requiring a separate setup for each one.

This particularly interests me for hotel rooms. I like the idea of setting up one charging station on the nightstand and putting everything there before bed.

It could also help with one of my biggest travel fears: leaving a watch charger plugged into some obscure outlet behind the bedside table and remembering it when I’m already halfway home.

Have you ever checked into a hotel room and wondered who decided that one easily accessible outlet was plenty?

Something like this could be helpful when Joe and I are both trying to charge phones, watches, tablets, and everything else at the same time. Put the charging station in one central location, and everybody knows where their electronics are.

Whether they remembered to bring the correct charging cord is their problem. Ha!

Which Travel Tech Organizer Am I Leaning Toward?

After comparing all of these, I’ve realized that I don’t think a simple pouch is going to solve my particular problem.

I want separate compartments, enough room for the actual charging blocks, and a system that lets me unzip the case and immediately see what I have. For that reason, I’m leaning toward one of the larger organizers, along with cable ties for the individual cords.

Once I order one and travel with it, I’ll come back and update this post with what I bought and how it worked. A product can look wonderfully organized sitting empty in a photograph. The real test is what happens after I stuff all of my chargers inside and take it on a trip.

If you travel much, I also think there’s something to be said for putting together a dedicated travel charging kit. A few extra charging cords and blocks could stay inside the organizer year-round, which would make packing much easier and lower the odds of leaving your everyday charger plugged in at home.

The goal isn’t to own another organizer just for the sake of being organized. I want something that solves an actual problem: keeping all of my travel electronics together, untangled, easy to find, and easy to pack.

Now, if someone could invent one that reminds me to put every charger back inside before I check out of the hotel, we’d really be getting somewhere.
