Are you ready for spring? Even though the groundhog hasn’t surfaced yet, I know that I can’t wait to see flowers start to poke out from the ground. I will probably jinx it, but I swear it seems like winter has flown by this year. The funny thing, one of the biggest snows that this area ever got was in March.

I’m sure hoping we don’t get any snow in March, and I hope that we get lots of sunshine and warm weather instead. Even if the weather doesn’t cooperate, I can still feel “springy” in my clothing. I’ve always used color to change my mood, and spring is the perfect time of the year to start wearing brighter colors.

Typically, spring colors are not quite as bright as the colors that I’m wearing today. Pastels are usually associated with spring, but I love vibrant, bold colors, so these outfits spoke to me. If these outfits don’t bring you out of the winter doldrums, I don’t know what will. After feeling yucky the past week or so, these outfits were a much-needed change.

Before I even start describing these items, I let you in on a secret. Everything is by one retailer, one brand, and are all extremely affordable. Unless the prices have changed, the most expensive item is less than $25.00, so you can feel good about your purchase. Not only are they affordable, but every piece is nice quality and you won’t be disappointed in your purchase. However, I did find the sizing to be a challenge, so I’ll make sure to mention that for each item.

To help you equate the sizes to you, I’m going to give you my stats. I am 5’6″ tall, and I’m weighing around 150 right now. I’m in between sizes right now, but I’ve been wearing a medium in sweaters lately. Jeans and pants are difficult for me since I still carry most of my weight in my waist, and I’m between a 10 and an 8. Some jeans sizes I wear a size 30, but I’ve been ordering a 28 lately. I’ve not really gone down too much in size and I sometimes still order my usual size 10 since I hate items to fit me too tight.

I LOVE this mock neck sweater, but you might have noticed that it is too big on me. The print is gorgeous, and I love the quality of the sweater, but it is going to have to go back because of the size. I ordered a medium, so the sweater must run large because it is extremely big on me. In fact, all of the sweaters were way too big, so remember this when it comes the time to order. A small would have been the better choice for me.

The length of the sweater is fine, and it hits me right below my hips. I love that you can wear this sweater with black or navy, and it will look great with jeans also.

Here is a close-up of the print so you can see how vibrant the colors are. I only added my favorite earrings to the outfit since it didn’t need a necklace. These large hoop statement earrings are surprisingly lightweight, but the quality of the earrings is fantastic.

The most expensive piece of clothing that I’m wearing today is the white v-neck tee. This Wearever tee from J.Jill is one that I bought last summer, and I’ve worn it over and over again. This exact tee is not on the website anymore, but there are some layering tanks, etc. that you could choose instead. J.Jill has great quality clothing, and the Wearever line is my favorite, especially for traveling.

This long open-front striped cardigan has pastels and bright colors combined. You ladies who love pastels are happy, and the bright color lovers are also happy. It is a win-win situation for everyone. But, like the mockneck sweater above, this striped cardigan runs large.

The cardigan has drop seam shoulders, so I think that makes the cardigan feel and look even bigger. However, a small would have fit much better, so this is going back also.

I could have added a long necklace with this outfit, but I just decided to wear my 18 kt. gold vermeil cross necklace instead. The cross necklace is one that I wear all of the time and rarely take off. It was playing peek-a-boo with the v-neckline, and it was hidden in these photos. Lol!

The last outfit that I’m showing you is this navy turtleneck and plaid vest. The navy turtleneck tones down the color of the outfit and grounds it with a deep, dark color. This navy merino wool turtleneck is one from J.Crew Factory, but the navy color is already sold out.

Strangely enough, the only thing that was not too big for me was this plaid vest, and it was too tight. Lol! It looks fine for these photos, but I couldn’t zip it closed because it was too small. Even though I probably would never zip the vest, I want to be able to zip it, so back this goes too.

I do like the vest, the style, and the colors. But, the medium that I ordered wasn’t big enough for me. The vest also comes in a navy and green plaid pattern which is also gorgeous. I think this vest would look great with jeans and would be one that you could get a lot of wear from this spring.

The hot pink skinny jeans are great for spring and summer. I don’t think the jeans are really skinny, they fit a little looser than what skinny jeans normally do. I ordered a size 10, but they are too loose and baggy for me, so they also have to go back. Lol! I did a horrible job guessing which size I would wear, but hopefully, my mistakes will save you from making the same mistake.

The shoes that I wore with each look are older, and I’ve had them for a while. Who would have thought that I would have a pair of hot pink suede pumps that would just match the pants? The Michael Kors ivory monogrammed flats are still available. These are a classic pair of mocassins that can be worn all summer long. They run TTS, and I am wearing my usual size 9.

The UGG Scuffette II slippers are a pair that I bought from the Nordstrom sale, and I wear them every day. These are so warm and comfortable, plus I like the slip-on design of the slippers. The slippers also run TTS, and I’m earing my usual size 9 in them.

  1. I really loved the white mock sweater and hot pink skinny jeans. I love what Belk has to offer and wish we had one or two here in Arizona.

  2. Catherine McCksmrock says:

These colors look great on you! I love Crown and Ivy too! You do need to try on because their sizing is different.

  3. I loved this try on post too!! I never buy anything online anymore before reading the reviews and, since those are a few items that I also had my eye on, I really appreciate your reviews on them but also being able to see the fit!! Btw, those colors are all absolutely beautiful on you!!! I hope you add more of those colors to your regular wardrobe!!

  4. Janet Rector Bryant says:

    You look great in pink.

  5. Charlcy L Green says:

Hi beautiful lady! I loved this try on post and all the outfits, but especially the white colorful sweater & heels. Hope you can get one that fits! So proud of you for your weight loss! You look fabulous! How much have you lost? Im on the keto diet now and trying to get thin too.

  6. Love these colors on you . I found the vest ran small also. Definitely loved the white sweater with the faire isle style on you.

  7. Barbara Maxwell says:

Great post today the colors look great on you!!

  8. Marin Mattingly says:

What Bible translation do you quote? Thanks.

    1. Normally, I use the NIV version.

  9. Celia Bass says:

Belk’s is my closest clothing store ( other than Walmart) so I am a frequent shopper/buyer. However, I normally wear petite sizes so I’ll have to see if any items you have shown are also available in petite.

  10. Gail Hallock says:

I bought that sweater in medium also but I like it a little roomy. Goes great with black and my pink pants. I love that you showed us these sales. I ordered right away and got what I wanted. The quality is excellent. Thank you!

  11. Loving these outfits today. All except the wide horizontal stripe long sweater. That would make my bottom look tooooo big. I don’t wear the Crown and Ivy brand usually (too preppy), but I may have too try it based on these looks. Thanks for the sizing hints!

  12. Yvonne Tanner says:

The pink looks so good on you. Your weight loss shows in these pics. Wonderful pics!

  13. I love all the bright colors! We used to have a Belks in my MIL’s small town, but not anymore. I did like shopping there. Love the sweater and the pink jeans. I hope you can get them in your size!

  14. you look adorable and wonderful in all these outfits! It certainly makes me want spring to arrive.

  15. Love that striped cardigan and the prices, but unfortunately they don’t ship to Canada. Love the outfit on you!

  16. Love the colors today. I really like the pic of you in the long sweater, pink jeans, and flats. Have a fun day. Keep warm.

  17. Debra Lange says:

You look so cute this morning in all these outfits! I placed an order for the pink jeans and vest, the sweater was already sold out in my size. Just getting over a mild case of Covid, I can’t wait to get out again and wear bright colors!!!! Love you blog, Debbie

  18. Diane Williams says:

This may be my favorite post you’ve done! Pink isn’t my favorite color but the hot pink in these pieces is wonderful. It’s deep and vibrant and very cheery! Thanks for all your work bringing these posts to my inbox every day.

  19. Donna Carpenter says:

You look fab in pink! I will have to cruise by the Belks at the Pinnacle when I am at our Tennessee cabin this weekend! Stay warm and bright!

  20. Crown and Ivy is such a good quality brand and Belk’s has great sales and prices!

  21. I order from Belk..often!! Since Covid hit the store has been extremely lacking for choices so ordering online is the best way to go right now..plus you can try on at home at your convenience. I love their sales, coupons, and so never pay for shipping. Returns at the store are easy to do. I ordered both sweaters when you posted previously but will need to return for sizing too. The navy in the mock neck is very pretty as well. Pink is so pretty on you.

    1. Lori, it just seems odd for me to have to order a small. The only other retailer that I have to order a small is QVC. I find their clothing to run really large.

  22. Rita Duda says:

I’ve always liked Crown & Ivy because of the bright colors.

  23. Julia Gilbert says:

Love Crown and Ivy…My daughters and I have been wearing this brand for many years. Best,

  24. Ginger Hiller says:

I am a Belk shopper, and along with Crown & Ivy, I also like the Kim Rogers brand. Pink is one of my signature colors, so I am loving the outfits you created. I hope that you can get the right size in the pieces that you want to add to your closet!

  25. We have a large Belk nearby but I still often shop online. It does seem that the sizes are all over the place in this particular brand? The sales are amazing, so I try to get there when I can. Thanks for the try on!

  26. Shannon Jordan says:

These bold pinks are totally speaking my language. And not waiting for spring to wear…as a healthcare worker I need a little cheer in my life

    1. I need some cheer in my life too. The sun hasn’t shined in over a week. UGH!

  27. I shop a lot at Belk and was excited to seeing you featuring them!

  28. Peri Meadows says:

Thanks for the Crown and Ivy try on post. Belk is a local store for me and the Crown and Ivy line really appeals to me. I would love to see future posts from Belk clothing. Love your selections!

  29. Tania- what’s the MCT oil / creamer you use that dissolves well?

    1. Shanda, I’m not sure what you’re talking about unless it is the Collagen For Her powder that I put in my coffee.

  30. Crown and Ivy sizes are so unpredictable. We have a Belk in our town and it is like walking in the Bargain Basement to shop! It is terrible. Very long racks with clothes packed on them. Who has time to sift through that. Very little staff working. I will order online but going to our local store is a waste of time. At one time it was a great store. Not anymore. The company will not respond to issues. However, I will say they have good sales.

  31. Thank you for featuring the Crown & Ivy try on today. Living in a small town, Belk is about our only “big” store to shop. The sizing with C&I is a challenge and I have always found the vests to be incorrectly sized. Great post today as always.

  32. Tanya you look so pretty in these colors! Love Crown and Ivy! And as another commenter says – Belk can have great sales. I especially love the Crown and Ivy ‘popover’ style tops for spring and summer. This line always has a little prep style too. Thanks for reminding me about Belk.

  33. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Went and ordered immediately. I love Crown & Ivy too!!

  34. I have a large Belk down the road and across the highway. I don’t buy much because I don’t think the quality is as good as Walmart. But fast fashion like these sweaters would be a good buy. I buy it knowing I’ll just wear it this year and pass it on.

  35. I have had really good luck shopping online through Belk. They have some killer sales, especially on sweaters. I was able to find a beautiful dress to wear to our son’s beach wedding last summer, on sale, and at a fraction of the price for dresses at other stores. Win!

  36. Elizabeth Wilson Wallace says:

I love this brand and do find it runs large. Belk has great sales.

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds these to run large.

  37. Love this brand! I shop at Belk quite a bit. Please continue to do shopping hauls from them. You look great!

  38. I finally moved back south and can shop at Belk once again. I do like this brand but yes, the sizing can be a challenge 🙂 Thank you for showing such pretty colors in this haul.

  39. Crown and Ivy sizing has been odd for years. The same size in a pair of pants can fit wildly different. It makes it difficult to buy unless you are at a store to actually try on. My daughter calls the brand “faux Lily” because of the colors!

    1. Kathy, I agree that the colors remind me of Lilly.

  40. Ellie Parker says:

Tania, you look gorgeous in pink!

  41. My 86 year old MIL told me about Belk recently. She loves what she’s ordered from them, and they hold up quite well. I have some of these things in my cart right now. Thanks for sharing about sizing. I’m curious, are you exchanging for the sizes you want, or just getting your money back?

    1. I find this brand holds up well for me. I’m not sure what I’m going to do about the size issue. I really like a couple of the things, so I might exchange those.

  42. All the outfits looked great on you & very cheerful.
