WHAT TO WEAR WHEN YOU WANT TO LOOK LIKE A GODDESS

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a blue and white tiered sleeveless maxi dress with gold braided sandals from Target It was a GORGEOUS weekend!!! Oh, my word, the sun was out, and the temperatures were soaring. This was the weekend to clean up the back patio and pool area, and now my butt is dragging. Joe hired someone to pressure wash the concrete around the pool, so I dragged out all of the cushions for the lounges and dining area and scrubbed those. I didn’t do a very good job putting them away for the winter, so they had coal dust and cat hair on them. It took me forever to clean up that mess, so you can bet that this year I’ll do better. Joe tackled cleaning the pool, and he has it looking great now. row of flowers with a black fence Since the back was looking so nice, I decided to work on putting down new mulch in the front. I love black mulch, but last year Joe brought me home red mulch, and I didn’t complain. However, this year I placed the order, so I got my black mulch instead. We have a long fenceline in front of our house, and it usually takes at least a pallet of mulch and usually more.
golf cart loaded down with black mulch Joe loaded the golf cart for me, and then I would pull the bags off, cut them open, and spread the mulch. Did I mention that it was hot outside? It was 87 degrees outside, and it didn’t take long for me to start melting down. I put down one load, and then when I took the cart back for another load, I went inside to cool down and get supplies.
cup, hat, sunglasses, gloves, and a bag of ice I put on one of Joe’s golfing hats, filled a ziplock baggie with ice, water, and a washcloth, put on my gardening gloves and sunglasses, and filled my cup (thanks Johnna) with ice water. The second go-around was easier because I could cool off. But then I got hungry and came inside to eat. Eating made me sleepy, so I took a nap, and now I only got halfway done.

white peony blooming But, look how pretty my Peonies look against the black mulch. They shine, and they smell so sweet. I’ll show you a picture of the finished project once it gets finished this week. I may be too sore to move for a couple of days. LOL! Remember, I’m 60. Haha!
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a blue and white tiered sleeveless maxi dress with gold sandals from Target I want to ask all of you how you store your patio cushions for the winter. Do you put them in bags, in totes, in a closet, etc.? Also, our outdoor dining table and chairs aren’t covered, so when it rains, they get soaked. Plus, I am always battling the cats to keep them from getting on the cushions. I want to get a sectional coach for outdoors, but I need to figure out how to take care of it before I spend all that money. Let me know all of your secrets because I am at a loss when it comes to this type of thing.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a blue and white tiered maxi dress Also, before I tell you all of the details on this maxi dress, I want to show you another new feature that I added to the blog. I think that you are going to like this latest addition. It all depends on what type of device you are using, but if you look at the menu section, you will notice that it has different categories. About me, Fashion, Faith, Hair/Makeup, and Shop My Post are the categories, and some of them have sub-categories. When you hover over fashion, a drop-down menu will pop up, and then you can choose to look at spring, summer, fall, or winter outfits. For those who are in Australia where the temperatures are starting to drop, you might want to occasionally look for inspiration by going to the fall and winter categories. Or, if you are going to a colder climate, this will show you different outfits. Also, if you hover over faith, you will see a drop-down menu for my devotionals and modest clothing. So, this dress would be listed in summer styles and modest clothing also. And I know that you are going to want to look at my hair and makeup categories. I’ll be adding to these over the next few weeks since I have to go into each old post and give it a category. So, play around with this new feature and give me some feedback. What you like, and what other categories you might want to have included.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a blue and white tiered sleeveless maxi dress with gold jewelry Jewelry and accessories…that is another category that I need to add. I am wearing the gold metallic Zanzibar hoops (HERE) from Lilly Pulitzer today. These are lightweight, and they are a nice size. They are big enough to make a statement, but not so big that you look silly. These have crystal embellishments to give them some sparkle. I added the dainty Rue long necklace (HERE) for a tiny bit of shine, but I didn’t want to add something to take away from the dress.

I can’t believe the Fallyn cuff bracelet (HERE) is finally back in stock. This bracelet has been sold out in every color for months, so if you’ve wanted this bracelet, then you better grab it now. I also added the Maggie (HERE) filigree bangle bracelet to the look. I think that these two bracelets look great together, and I pair them all of the time.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing gold braided sandals from Target I love these gold metallic braided sandals. These are so cute, and they are perfect for shorts, crops, dresses, or jeans. You will be able to wear these sandals dressy or casual; it will be up to you. I like the “goddess” look of these shoes; I think that fits my personality. Lol! I am wearing my usual size 9 in these, and they fit me perfectly. Now, for the fun part…they are under 18.00! HERE is the link to the sandals.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a blue and white tiered sleeveless maxi dress with gold braided sandals Now, for these gorgeous blue and white tiered maxi dress. Whew! Try saying that fast three times. This dress is a heavyweight knit, and it has plenty of movement to it as you walk. It feels so lovely and luxurious; I found my self sashaying when I was walking. The material has lots of stretchiness to it, and it is very silky feeling. I am wearing a size 1 (8-10), and I feel like I might could have even gone down another size. This dress will look great this summer, and you can easily throw on a blazer or cardigan in the evening when the air cools down. HERE is the link to this gorgeous maxi dress.

We put our cushions in an outdoor shed. The plastic kind that you assemble with pieces left over but it’s not fallen down so I guess we put just enough pieces. I don’t recommend assembling a shed with a man. They already know everything and never read the directions. Anyway, my cushions did just fine and the only problem was the stitching at the top came loose and a mouse decided to help itself to the batting. I was worried they’d mildew in bags but post-mouse we bought zipper ones. The only caveat is don’t be cheap and try to put in one huge old bag because two things will happen. First it will weigh more than a car and second putting it on a shelf is darn near impossible. We just too ours out and it rained. Go figure. 🤔

We put the pads undercover, but there wasn’t a door to shut the cats out. We will have to figure out a better design this year.

Hi Tania. Belated birthday greetings! I love maxi dresses and that blue and white one looks gorgeous on you. I store my outdoor cushions in very large black garbage bags, 2 to a bag, then put them on an upper shelf in the garage for the winter. Seems to work well. Can’t wait til our weather warms up enough to start wearing sundresses again!

Janice, that is what I need to do. I’ve put them in the big black bags before, but the coal dust has a way of still getting inside.

We put our cushions in the basement as we cannot store any fabric in the outside pool shed since the animals sneak in (think mice looking for a nice place to make home). So, all fabric, including canopies, etc. in the basement, all metal (furniture) in the pool shed and outdoor bathroom. Yes, we have an outdoor bathroom, which should be finished soon. I wanted a small shed to change and maybe a toilet (for when I am working outside and don’t want to track mud in the house), and since my husband is a contractor, we now have a full bathroom (there will be an outdoor shower), hot and cold water… Nothing is small and simple with him haha! It is convenient to have near the pool.
I also worked outside all weekend, and I am so sore.
PS I love black mulch. Yes, you are right, the flowers and plants just pop against the dark mulch. I love peonies and cannot wait for ours (we have some time yet for them to have blossoms.)

Arna, what you have, sounds like what I have. It is a small “house” that has an enclosed bathroom and a dryer in it, but I don’t have any shelves. I have asked for Joe to build on a storage room that has a door so that I can put my cushions on shelves.

Love the sundress! And the closeup of your face–can’t believe you’re 60! You’re rocking it! As for patio cushions, we store ours in the basement in large trash bags. We enclose a few Bounce dryer sheets in the bag, as they deter mice. Just in case. Have a great week! Oh…love the category drop down feature. Handy!

Thanks for the tip about the dryer sheet!!! I have too many cats around for mice, but at least the cushions wouldn’t smell stale. I am so glad that you like the drop-down feature!

Michele, I am thinking about adding a “SALES” category. I get notifications all of the time about new sales, and I could constantly do an update on that page. Sometimes, they are a TODAY only sale, so I don’t have time to tell everyone, but a page would make it easy to add and everyone could check it out every day around lunch to see if there is a sale going on.

Happy Belated Birthday ! You look Fabulous! I love reading all your post, they make my day~ We had a beautiful weekend here as well. My body is sore today because we did mulch and yard work too! We usually put our seat cushions in large black garbage bags then put them in the garage or attic, they seem to do well. Then out outside furniture we just keep out all year. I love the blue maxi dress, its beautiful !

Marsha, that sounds like what I usually do, but I think the cushions were wet last year when we put them up, so I didn’t put them in bags. I meant to go back later after they had dried, but I got lazy and forgot.

I was just talking about this to my hubby. I wish they made a chair with a waterproof, pull out brawler that you could store your cushions in so they are handy. The summer weather up here in Calgary 🇨🇦 Has rain, hail, wind so we end up taking them in and out every time we use them and it is a pain….

I am looking at a sectional from Ikea. It has storage in the seats, and you can buy waterproof bags to place inside the storage area. BUT, I am not sure if that space would be big enough to hold the cushions, maybe pillows though.

Cute dress and I, too, am not a red mulch fan! I use the dark brown mulch and feel your pain because I put out over 40 bags the past couple of weeks. Great work out, but I definitely needed an Epsom Salt bath after all that lifting. As far as patio furniture, about 20 years ago I bought a really nice Tropitone Sling patio set that is still going strong. It stays out all year long – rain or shine – and once a year I do have to clean the pollen off the arms and base, but that’s it. This is NOT my set, but here’s an example of sling furniture https://www.tropitone.com/outdoor-furniture/residential/group/torino-sling?nav=17. My sister puts all her patio furniture cushions into a large deck box in the winter and drags them into the house if it’s going to rain.
