WHAT I WORE TO THE PUMPKIN PATCH
I told you that it was Fall! Not only have Pumpkin Spice items hit the grocery shelves, but pumpkins have also hit the roadside markets. Etters Greenhouse had lots of pumpkins to choose from that were already picked, but also a huge field full for me to choose my own. Since this outfit is what I wore to the pumpkin patch, I opted to grab some that were already picked.
I haven’t told a story in a while, so today, you are going to hear about the year that we had a pumpkin overload! There used to be a pumpkin farm in our area that sold their pumpkins extremely cheap. I told Joe that I wanted to cover my entire front yard in pumpkins, so he sent our dump truck to the pumpkin farm to get me about 100 pumpkins.
The pumpkins were only $.50, $1.00, or $2.00 each, so even a dump truck full of pumpkins wasn’t that expensive. After the other people at the lumber company saw all of my pumpkins, they wanted some too. So, I shared some of mine, and then we sent the truck back for another load.
I can’t believe that I don’t have a photo of my yard, but that was pre-blogging days. But, it is safe to say that every 3 or 4 feet, you would find a pumpkin. Lol! My kids used to ride their little 50hp motorcycle through the pumpkins, it was their road race. Haha! The pumpkin patch caught on to all of the sales, and the next year, the prices increased drastically. So, I didn’t get to have my pumpkin yard again, but it was extremely cool that one year that I did!
This Lou & Grey Mountainside boucle sweater is so soft and comfortable! I was first attracted to the mountainside print since I live in the mountains, but, the softness of the sweater is what I ended up loving. It is a different type of softness than my Barefoot Dreams items, and it is kind of hard to describe, but it is bubbly and not smooth. However, I saw that some said it was itchy, and I didn’t find it itchy at all.
The material is very lightweight, and not bulky at all. That is another reason that I loved the sweater. I am not ready for a thick sweater yet, at least not while the sun is still shinning, so I liked that it was lightweight. The sweater is on sale, so make sure to take advantage of the sale before it ends on Oct. 2nd. I am wearing a medium in the sweater, and it fits great.
I wasn’t sure if I would like these joggers. A lot of people wear these as pants all of the time, so I decided to give them a try. Joggers are huge right now, and you can wear them with heels as well as sneakers. They now come in lots of different materials, including leather, so these are now very mainstream. I can’t get the fact that these we only worn by people my age when we were exercising. Lol!
The joggers are comfortable, and I liked this Marsala Red color, so maybe I need to get on the bandwagon after all. I wanted to make sure that they were not tight, so I ordered a large, but I could have worn a medium I think.
I bought these platform sneakers back in the summer. Did you see the post where I tried on a ton of white sneakers trying to pick on or two pairs? This pair made the cut, and I am still loving them. The funny thing, the sneakers didn’t make the post. I forgot to take photos of them. Lol!!!
These sneakers are by Keds, a name that I recognize from when I was a kid. I’m not sure how long they have been making sneakers, but it must be a LONG time. I am wearing my usual size 9, and they run TTS.
Even if I am just going to a pumpkin patch, I am still going to be wearing jewelry. I didn’t wear a lot of jewelry, just my AVI large (but lightweight) gold hoop earrings, 18kt gold vermeil cross necklace, and my Fallyn link cuff bracelet.
The sun kept popping out from behind the clouds, so I also had to wear my Ray-Ban sunglasses part of the time.
So, these pumpkins came home with me to put on my front porch in Grundy. I also bought a stack of pumpkins to put on the front porch in Abingdon, but I didn’t get a photo of those.
Here is the stack of pumpkins that my DIL got. These things weighed a TON! The gentleman at the stand loaded them for us, and I am hoping that my son will unload them. I bet some of these weighed 30 lbs or more!!!
So, what do you think of my pumpkin patch attire? Can you see yourself wearing this outfit? One more question…do you buy pumpkins, pick your own pumpkins, or not bother with pumpkins at all?
The little gentleman at the stand said one of his favorite things about the pumpkin patch was watching families bring their kids to go and pick their pumpkin. That sounds like a wonderful tradition, and I know that the kids will remember it fondly one day in the future.

Cute outfit! I’m a pink lover, but don’t usually wear it in the fall. I’m gradually changing that notion. Fall colors are so ingrained that pink seems out of place in a pumpkin patch, but it makes you stand out! Very pretty!
I like your outfit! I do not buy pumpkins or decorate for Fall since we are in the country on a private dirt road. Because we love Christmas, we do decorate outside some, for that season. Both of us are deer hunters, so we will do our Christmas decorating in Oct.
The jogger outfit is cute. For me personally, it’s a no on the pants. I’d wear jeans instead. Love the rest of the outfit!!💚
I love everything about your outfit and pumpkins. They only have Aztec gold in the pants now. I save the seeds to roast and use the pumpkin for pies. I buy small ones meant for pies but they are just as cute on porch. Btw…cats love puréed pumpkin.😊
Love, love, love this outfit!!! Perfect for pumpkin shopping or anytime! And I always put pumpkins on my front porch. Love this time of year, cooler weather, fall colors, and sweaters.
Love the pumpkins you picked, good taste gurl. Also about filling your front yard with pumpkins in previous years.
I go to our local grocery store to buy our pumpkins. One year I put a large pumpkin out on our front pony wall and the next morning the Javelinas tore into it and made a huge mess of it. No more pumpkins in our front yard. Every neighbor that decorates with pumpkins in their front yards has a story to tell.
Welcome to living in the desert in Arizona.
You look amazing! Love your outfit, your hair and the pumpkins. You and Joe are a hoot…so fun!! Wish we were neighbors and that we could see the dump truck and your yard full of pumpkins! 🧡
Last year my husband and I took our four grandchildren for apple picking and pumpkin picking. Our rule is they can have any pumpkin they want, but they need to carry it themselves. The littlest changed her mind three times. The boys picked the largest they could carry.
We also got about 60 lbs of apples.
It was such a great day.
We raise our pumpkins, but our big field was flooded in July when the creek overflowed after a huge rai. Had four rows on a hill, but they were not great quality. I bought two big ones and still have some of our homegrown ones in my display.
I know the rains took out a lot of gardens here as well.
I love the color. Joggers are great! I like mine a little longer and they are hard to find.
Maribeth, I have these “hiked up” because I like them up rather than long. When they are not pulled up, they past my ankles.
