Plus, I’m giving you two options of these skin care products – one a bit more budget friendly than the other. Let’s dive in and find your winter skincare favorites! 😊
1. Gentle Cream Cleanser
A cream-based cleanser helps remove impurities while preserving your skin’s natural oils, which are essential for combating winter dryness.
Everyone knows and loves CeraVe! This daily, gentle cleanser is perfect for normal to oily skin, giving you a deep clean without leaving your skin feeling tight or dry. It starts as a gel and lathers into a gentle foam that is great for removing dirt, oil, and makeup. Fragrance-free (yay!), it’s great for sensitive skin and won’t clog your pores. You can use it morning and night to keep your face feeling refreshed and balanced. Bonus: Keep it in the shower; it’s versatile enough to use on your body or even as a gentle hand wash.
This foaming gel is a must for starting your winter skincare routine. It also removes makeup, dirt, and oil without drying out your skin. Perfect for normal to oily skin types, It’s dermatologist-recommended, so you know it’s safe for sensitive skin. If you’re looking for a cleanser that works hard without harsh ingredients, this one’s for you!
2. Hydrating Toner
A hydrating toner replenishes moisture lost during cleansing and prepares your skin to absorb other products more effectively.
Did I mention I like CeraVe? A toner is a must, but one I feel gets ignored. Don’t! This budget friendly toner is a fabulous addition to your skincare routine. It’s gentle, and removes any leftover impurities after cleansing while prepping your skin for moisturizer. Alcohol-free and soothing, it’s ideal for sensitive and dry skin. Despite its low price, it’s packed with benefits that leave your face soft and radiant. A perfect pick for glowing skin on a budget!
For a bright, radiant complexion, this toner is a great find. It gently exfoliates your skin, leaving it smooth and glowing after every use. Perfect for all skin types, it also helps refine pores and improve skin texture. Use it daily for a boost of brightness and to balance your skin during the winter months. With a lightweight formula, it absorbs quickly and preps your skin beautifully for the next steps in your routine. If you want a touch of luxury, this is your go-to toner!
3. Rich Daytime Moisturizer
A rich moisturizer creates a protective barrier on your skin, preventing moisture loss and shielding against harsh winter elements.
This daytime moisturizer is lightweight but packs a punch when it comes to hydration. It keeps your skin soft and smooth, protecting it from dryness caused by winter weather. Preach! These Virginia temperatures are about to kill me. Wear it under makeup; it doesn’t leave a greasy residue and absorbs quickly into the skin. A reliable moisturizer for everyday use that helps with fine lines and wrinkles!
Have you heard of Paula’s Choice? It’s an interesting brand. “Founded in 1995 by Paula Begoun, a beauty expert and author often referred to as the “Cosmetics Cop,” the brand emphasizes transparency, research, and consumer education.” Do YOU want to tell the Cosmetics Cop no? lol. This rich daily moisturizer contains antioxidants and is perfect for giving your skin that extra hydration boost in the winter. It’s also a great base for makeup, and will help your foundation go on flawlessly. Treat your skin to a little luxury with this one!
4. Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen

Here’s another household name associated with skincare. Protecting your skin from the sun is just as important in winter, and this budget-friendly sunscreen does the job perfectly. Lightweight and non-greasy, it provides protection while keeping your skin hydrated. Use it every morning after your moisturizer for all-day defense against harmful UV rays. If you’re ready to splurge, this premium sunscreen is a nice option for protection and hydration. It blends into your skin, leaves no white residue, and is lightweight. I love that it’s SPF 46. That’s specific, lol. Perfect for sensitive and aging skin, it helps protect against sun damage while keeping your face moisturized. Yes, please! Use it daily as the final step in your morning routine, or it also makes it a fantastic primer under makeup.
5. Gentle Exfoliator
Exfoliating gently removes dead skin cells that can build up and block moisture, leaving your skin smoother and more radiant.
This low cost exfoliator is perfect for giving your skin a fresh start. It gently removes dead skin cells, leaving your face soft, smooth, and radiant! Use it once or twice a week to maintain a healthy glow and prevent dullness in the winter months. This comes two to a pack and a little goes a long way!

A hydrating serum delivers concentrated moisture deep into your skin, combating the dehydration caused by cold weather.
Vitamin C Serum
This hydrating gel cream is lightweight and perfect for giving your skin a refreshing boost of moisture. Vitamin C is always a good partner with your skincare products! It absorbs quickly, making it ideal for layering under makeup or sunscreen without feeling heavy. Use it morning and night to keep your skin smooth and hydrated, especially during the colder months. 7. Nourishing Night Cream
A nourishing night cream supports your skin’s natural repair process, which is especially important during the drying winter season.
This nourishing night cream with retinol is a treat for your skin while you sleep. It hydrates and restores, leaving your face soft and ready to greet the morning! Use it as the last step in your nighttime routine to lock in moisture. Its rich texture feels luxurious without being too heavy—your skin will thank you for the extra care! Very budget friendly.
A few years ago, my sister was in a room with a 50+ year old celebrity. She had a moment to speak with her, noticed her beautiful skin, and a few minutes later, she got a text. It was a photo of this simple L’Oreal product! L’Oreal is a great brand and one I’ve used through the years with good results. Layer it after your serum for the ultimate hydration boost. Winter skin needs extra love, and this cream delivers in the most luxurious way. Treat yourself—you deserve it!

Just loved the info on winter face essentials
Thank you for this! Your skin and make up are beautiful! Do you have a video or post of the make up you use? Are you still selling R&F?
I need all of these! CT cold is taking a toll on my skin! I have never heard of Eclat, but will be looking into it!
All great suggestions thx
Love the Pixi glow tonic
I picked up some Pixi toner today. I don’t use a toner, so I thought why not? Honestly, I have tried SO many different types of skincare over the years! I recently switched to ROC and I am so happy with my results! Have a great visit with your family! GREAT picture of you and Joe!!! Happy Friday ❤️❤️❤️
What great ideas for winter skin issues
I’m using CeraVe lotion and I love it. But I’m going to look into the Vitamin C product. My face is suffering in these frigid temps! Thanks for this post
Tania, are you still using Rodan and Fields? I haven’t seen you post anything about it in awhile. I just wondered if there was a reason. Thanks!
Melinda, yes, I still use R&F. I don’t post about it much anymore because I have to try so many other products, but it is still in my routine.
Thanks for giving the budget friendly option along with the high cost one. I do sometimes go with the higher cost options but prefer to stick to the lower cost ones. I just recently started using toner and I do like it a lot. I think I might try the Loreal Revitalift. Though after I use up all of my Lancome. I tend to read about new products and then buy them. I end up with so many products all good for the same thing. Then I can’t really tell which one works the best. So I must use up what I currently have. I like the picture of you & Joe. I like your travel outfit.
Lots of good stuff here!
I use mostly cera ve products but am interesting in trying some of these.
That’s why I don’t like winter. My skin gets so dry especially my hands. I’m doing good so far with jojoba oil on my face keeping eczema flare up away. I figured it’s dry air that brings it on.
When does one apply the sunscreen? Have tried to put on last, right before the foundation–and get pilling every time!
You have to make sure the sunscreen is fully dried before you try applying anything else. That happens with me sometimes when I’m impatient and don’t let my moisturizer which ha sunscreen in it fully dry.
I use several of these products and love them! I ordered some more Neutrogena SPF cream. Thanks!
Cute pic
This post was perfect timing. I’ve been considering my options for winter skin care, because it’s looking pretty blah. Cerave is a favorite, and I love that you’ve included budget items too. I tend to use a mix.
Great advice! I also live in the south and know the importance of cleansing, hydrating and moisturizing especially during the winter months. Curious as to your thoughts about this new make up eraser cloth? Have you seen it and if so, have you tried it?
Mary, yes, I’ve seen Make Up Eraser cloths, and sometimes use them. They are great to use, especially when traveling when you don’t want to ruin someones wash cloths when taking off your makeup. The only time I don’t like using them is on my mascara, it seems like I pull out more lashes when I do.
Great products I will need to try some
Hooray for Cerave! I have a lot of their products but I do need to get that toner. Those exfoliating serums look good too. Thank you for sharing some new products!
Thank you for all the great skin care options at all different price points. Very informative, but practical info.
Thanks. Winter has been brutal!!!!
Your pic is adorable!!!!
Thanks!
