WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE LORD
When I was in Nashville last week, one of my friends gave me a gift. It was a small box that contained 50 encouraging Bible promises, and there is a space on the back of each card for a personal message. Each morning, I decided to take the deck of cards out of the box and randomly cut the cards to see what my verse for the day should be. I loved the verse that I drew the first day. It was:
Proverbs 3:6
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
What a beautiful verse; I focused on the part that said “he” will direct my paths. The very next day, I pulled out the cards and cut the deck again. This time the card that I pulled out was:
Proverbs 3:6
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Yep! I picked the very same card for two days in a row. I don’t believe in coincidences, so the fact that I chose the same card was pretty incredible, and that got my attention. But, this time, I really read the verse…all of it!
So, what does it mean to acknowledge the Lord? Acknowledge definition is “accept or admit the existence or truth of.” I thought that is easy; I accept and admit the existence of the Lord! Now, I was ready for the Lord to direct my paths, and I was prepared to hit “auto-pilot.” But, there was that pesky part of the verse that said, “in all your ways.” What did that mean?
When I think about acknowledging someone, I only think about waving hello to show the person that I “see” them. But, with the Lord, I believe that my way to acknowledge the Lord comes in several different ways.
I think it is about saying, “I see you, Lord” by our actions. I need to examine my posts on Social Media to see if they are posts that I wouldn’t be embarrassed for the Lord to see. My words need to reflect my love of the Lord so that I can acknowledge him to others.
I think that another way of acknowledging the Lord comes by obeying his commands.
Proverbs 3:1-5
My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, 2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. 3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
The way of acknowledging the Lord is spelled out in the previous verses. Do not forget his teachings. Keep his commands in your heart. Keep love and faithfulness close. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your understanding.
I see you, Lord!!! Direct my ways!
Have A Blessed Day!
