Ways To Wear Jeans For Thanksgiving
When the leaves start to turn beautiful shades of orange, red, and yellow, jeans become my clothing item of choice! I dress pretty simple in the fall, and most of the time, you can catch me in a sweater and jeans, loungewear, or joggers. I’ve already been making plans for Thanksgiving, so I thought I would show you some ways to wear jeans for Thanksgiving.
How can I stay comfortable in jeans after a big Thanksgiving meal?
Straight-leg or relaxed-fit jeans are perfect for a casual Thanksgiving. They’re comfortable and easy to style. Look for jeans with some stretch! Straight-leg jeans can also provide more room and comfort compared to skinny styles. Wear a loose-fitting top or sweater to ensure you stay cozy throughout the day.
You Want To Look For Comfortable Pieces
Tunic Sweater
I like to wear casual clothing for Thanksgiving. Being comfortable is important, especially if you are moving around a lot, cooking, or cleaning up after the meal.
This Turtleneck Tunic Sweater from Kohl’s is an example of the style and comfort I’m looking for. It is slightly oversized (no tugging and rearranging) and very comfortable. It is long enough to wear with leggings if you want, instead of jeans.
The weather can be unpredictable in the fall. We’ve had many mornings down into the low 30s already, so adding a jean jacket is smart. This 4 pocket jean jacket features a collared neckline and a longer length like a barn jacket. I love that it is a modern look that’s different from a regular denim jacket. I’m wearing a large which easily accommodates a bulky sweater.
While I won’t be carrying a handbag home, I’ll need one if I’m running to the store or going to a friend’s for Thanksgiving. The Merlot Brooklyn Jet Set Satchel Bag is a gorgeous burgundy color. I consider this a neutral, so it will go with anything you wear.
You might have heard the phrase, “If mama ain’t happy, no one is happy.” I’m changing it to, “If your feet ain’t happy, your body ain’t happy.” Your feet will be thrilled in the Easy Spirit Ruched Wedge Booties! I think the slight (very slight) wedge heel would be easy for anyone to wear. The ruching adds cute design details. The brown is limited, but it is also available in black.
Loose Fitting
Neutrals that can be worn throughout fall and winter will help you to get the most out of your money. Styling your clothing for different occasions and across seasons is a savvy way to maximize your wardrobe and make the most of your investment.
Yes!!! This Brown Mockneck Pullover Sweater in a medium is perfect for Thanksgiving. I LOVE this heathered color, and the sleeves add a lot of style and visual interest. The sweater is loose-fitting, so you don’t have to worry about indulging too much turkey and dressing. Lol! Is it only me who worries about that?
Speaking of indulging, these Tummy-Control Bootcut Jeans might come in handy during Thanksgiving. If you want to wear jeans for Thanksgiving, you’ll want to try this pair. They have plenty of stretch, so they can accommodate a little over-indulgence. I like the straight-leg style, which comfortably allows for wearing ankle boots. I’m wearing my usual size 8, and they fit me perfectly.
An Elevated Casual Way to Wear Jeans for Thanksgiving
Some of us might not be cooking Thanksgiving dinner and instead going to friends or a restaurant. When our kids were young, we always ate at home or at grandma’s. But now that they are older and have families of their own, we aren’t always able to be together.
That’s when Joe and I make dinner reservations since I don’t want to cook a huge meal for just the two of us. The Embellished Mockneck Sweater would be perfect for adding an elevated, festive vibe to my outfit. The crystal embellishments and cable knit design are eye-catching and make a statement when you enter the room. I’m wearing a medium, which fits great.

I love all your posts and have found some wonderful clothing items through you. You give me courage to try new styles. Thanks so much for all you do. I love sweaters and jeans but I hate turtlenecks. Can you show us some sweaters to go with jeans that aren’t turtlenecks? I would love to see them.
Thanks so much, Laurie
Is there a link to the Nine West handbag you are using in many of the pictures in this post? Love it!

I am usually the cook and though those are beautiful sweaters, I would be roasting! Like several have already mentioned, I wear an apron and coordinate a 3/4 sleeve blouse to match.
Love the towel warmer!
Cute sweaters! Since I will be donning an apron for Thanksgiving, I usually wear something with 3/4 sleeves so that I am not constantly pushing up my sleeves. I usually don’t have time to change, so I wear a top that will go with my apron. Like the booties, and ordered them (yippee Kohl’s has my size!).
Your looks are very well put together while looking very comfortable and nappable!
One year two of my sisters-in-law, one of my daughters, and I all had the same casual outfit: black jeans and a leopard sweater. I do go one step beyond your casual. My ASICS are the fashion statement of the day and my garbage feet are happy!
Great sweater on you!
I love the sweater and jeans look for thanksgiving! With the oven going it may be too warm for these beautiful sweaters and I may end up with a pretty blouse and an apron instead.
I would love to see some lighter looks, too! Hosting is a hot job!
Saved 3 sweaters, you go girl, I’m loving it!
Remember the days when the family would get dressed up in their Sunday best to go to someone’s house for Thanksgiving? As much as I like the idea, comfort is more important to me these days. You showed some very nice outfits today.
I’m like you in that I wear jeans almost all winter. Being hot natured, I don’t usually wear a sweater with them but you have shown some beautiful choices if I did!
I love the way you style your outfits !!!!
What great tops! I have a pair of Sonoma jeans that I love because they are so soft, comfortable, and just stretchy enough. My body can overheat easily, so I wear lightweight clothing for the day. Our son joins us for Thanksgiving now that he is divorced. We keep our meal real simple by having smoked turkey legs and a few sides, then pumpkin pie for dessert.
That sounds like a great meal! I’m glad your son take the time to join you.
love the turtleneck tunic sweater
Love the color of that purse.
I just love a sweater and jeans combo! These are the cutest looks for a relaxed holiday. Wish the booties weren’t sold out because I just love them!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Love the fall sweaters and the towel warmer. Great gift idea, thanks!
I do like a cute and well fitting jean.
Those sweaters are really cute! I particularly love the embellished one! Great post…Happy Friday ❤️❤️❤️
Jeans and sweaters are my fall/winter go to. Now that I am retired, I have to make myself not buy so many “dress/work” clothes. I love looking nice, but it’s simply not necessary to do so, to go to the grocery store….lol! Great looks. We don’t have our children this year for Thanksgiving, makes me sad, but we share with other side of their families.
I don’t think I will wear jeans on Thanksgiving. I think I prefer a looser type pant to allow for indulgence. I will be at my daughter’s house and everything will be super casual. I hope fall comes to Texas soon. Everything is dry and brown. My fall decorations are the only beautiful things I see.
love that embellished sweater and purse! You always give me such great outfit ideas!
Gosh I love those booties! Wish they weren’t sold out! Also, the towel warmer is going under my tree for the hubs!!
They are still available in black. I hope he likes it, I love it…mostly for my robe. Lol!
I love the idea of a towel warmer!
Great jeans blog. Oh boy would I love a towel warmer…
Cute options!!
Great post!
I am the original jeans and loafers girl so I enjoyed today’s blog. Even down here in sunny Florida, I wear jeans a lot during the winter months. I added some cords from J.Jill to my wardrobe this year. Love the first jeans and sweater outfit on you. I also loved the idea of a towel warmer, but not sure I have room for one.
I love J.Jill’s jeans, and their cords are great, too.
That warmer would be perfect by the hot tub! Love Kohls jeans!
Blessings to you this fall season
