Trending Brown Dresses You’re Sure To Love
Long-time readers know that I am all about COLOR. Fifty is not old, but it should be bold, lol. But as much as I like bright hues, I always want to be in style. Brown is everywhere this season. It’s a nice option when you want something classic but warmer than black. Today, I’m sharing trending brown dresses you’re sure to love. I have blogged about this color before.

- Beautiful Ways to Incorporate the Trending Color Chocolate Brown
I found a couple of chocolate brown dresses at Loft. You know I love wearing maxi dresses, but my Petite readers prefer dresses that show their legs. I like to do everything I can to help all my readers, so I ordered one of each. This maxi features a smocked bodice and adjustable straps. It fits me nicely, and I love that it has pockets.
This split neck dress ended up being my favorite of the two. The shift dress hangs straight, skimming the body. I liked the rayon blend material, which was a nice weight. Brown wasn’t a color I thought I would like for summer, but I think it looks great. What do you think?
I carried the same handbag and wore the same jewelry with both dresses. You can see the versatility of the convertible necklace since I wore it long with the maxi, and short with the split neck dress.
Trending Brown Dresses You’re Sure To Love – Ann Taylor
Let’s start with Ann Taylor. It’s a retailer that always delivers a chic option. This brown stone-colored dress is all about relaxed, effortless style with its scoop neck and sleeveless design. It even has a self-tie belt to cinch it at the waist, if you prefer, and on-seam pockets for a practical touch. Made from 100% cotton, it’s super breathable and easy to care for—just toss it in the wash! And as usual, if you’re not a fan of sleeveless clothing, add a lightweight cardigan.
Trending Brown Dresses You’re Sure To Love – Dillard’s
This standout piece is from Dillard’s. I don’t have one near me but I wish I did! I love the asymmetrical neckline that combines two styles – one-shoulder and off-the-shoulder. It’s made from a comfy knit crepe, perfect for all-day wear. Plus, the shirred waist detail adds a flattering touch to its midi-length design. Also available in black and a gorgeous green.

Here’s a similar silhouette. The neckline is more traditional and features a pretty open back. Va-Voom! It would be Ideal for weddings or any upscale occasion. If you’re not a fan of this deep brown, it’s available in several other colors. The reviews are good for the material and overall quality of the dress, but some have problems with the neckline falling off the shoulders, so shop accordingly.
This is a very inexpensive way to get in on the brown trend. It’s under $35 dollars so if brown isn’t your first love, you won’t have to be sad that you spend a fortune to be fashionable. I think it would be flattering on a lot of different body types. The detachable waist tie lets you adjust the fit just how you like it. If brown isn’t your favorite shade, it’s available in 17 other colors.
Trending Brown Dresses You’re Sure To Love
Here’s a long-sleeved version of the dress above. It looks different in a print, doesn’t it? Brown doesn’t have to mean a solid. You can mix it up with stripes and polka dots, even leopard! Like the short-sleeved version, this is a very affordable dress. Perfect for any occasion that requires you to dress up a bit. Love the tiers!
Looking for something breezy and casual? This dress features one of my favorites – a square neckline. Made from a blend of 97% polyester and 3% elastane, it offers a light and breathable fit, perfect for those hot summer days. I love the boho vibe! Plus, it comes with pockets for added convenience! Pair it with sandals and a floppy hat for the ultimate beach look.

A-line dresses are one of my favorite silhouettes. This dress is ideal for any occasion. It’s made from 100% cotton, so you’ll be comfortable yet elegant. The V-neckline and center-front flange are delicately trimmed with a pearled edge. It also has my favorite—pockets. It’s a lovely, chic little dress. Again, brown doesn’t mean solid!

Check out the stylish GEO Knit Dress from Talbots! Made from a soft cotton blend, it features a jewel neckline, three-quarter sleeves, and a buttoned half-placket. Seriously, how chic is this?! Trending Brown Dresses You’re Sure To Love – Tuckernuck
Have you purchased anything from Tuckernuck? I was dining with some girlfriends recently, and they could not stop raving about this brand. With a dress like this, I can see why! Not all browns are created equal. I love the rich color of this one. And I appreciate that when I looked up the color, I was expecting something like “Summertime Mocha” or “Chocolate Eclair,” lol. The color is simple – brown. Ha! It’s 100% cotton, a great length, and I love the sleeves and neckline. A beautiful choice!

to me, brown clothes are just blah. but not your choices! you were right. I do live them!
Browns and rusts are gorgeous colors that so many shy away from. Thanks for sharing these beautiful dresses in all shades of browns. Love them.
Your hair is so cute!!
I just bought a brown and black dress for the first time. I never thought I would like B&B together but I love it! I got it at Target for 20 dollars. A bargain and it’s short ( to my knees) and it’s cute!! Thanks for the suggestions! I love all your picks. Some I would have never picked for myself!!! Thanks for all your suggestions!
Sara
Your weekend sounds wonderful; it’s great you had such fun.
The chocolate browns are beautiful. I’m going shopping!
I love pairing a brown top with white capris for summer.
That haircut is very flattering on you!! Nice to go shorter this time of year, I just did too, but a pixie. I like the brown dresses. I’ve seen a lot of brown and white in stores which is what I would need to brighten it up a bit for my cooler skin tone.
Love your hair! I haven’t worn brown in a long time. Maybe I will shop today. Thank you and have a blessed day
you look so lovely in those dresses, better than the professional models. You have a natural beauty that they lack.
Wow! You are too nice!
I like brown as a softer option from black. And all the different shades are nice too!
BROWN! YAY!!! I have deep autumn coloring, so chocolate brown is one of my best neutrals. I love wearing various medium to dark browns, and they are well represented in my wardrobe. 🙂
This works out great for you!
I’ve always loved brown for winter but you have me thinking it just might be a nice color for summer also!
I liked it way more than I thought I would. It was always a fall color for me, too.
My favorite formal dress is brown lace and pink satin. Bought it for the Mayor’s Ball at Macy’s, 20 years ago. I just need to lose 30lbs to fit back into it.
nice
I am usually not a fan of brown but you have piqued my interest. I won the Amazon gift card last week. Thank you so much Tania! I will shop your Amazon store with it.
Congratulations, again! It is always fun to have play money to spend.
I’m glad that you made it home safely. I hope that your parents and extended family remained unscathed. I am wondering if the wood from the old barn is being salvaged. I have one dress that is in the brown family, the color makes me think of GA clay, that I do enjoy wearing, but I don’t see me adding more brown to my closet.
He was able to save a tiny bit of the wood, but not much. It was enveloped in vines and trees, so it was hard to get to. He had a hard time getting it down with a excavator, the trees kept it from falling.
I too have embraced brown with a few casual summer type dresses. I agree there are so many shades of brown that one of them should work for everyone.
I’m glad you had a lazy weekend with your family. Sometimes that is what is needed to recharge your soul.
As a 74 year old follower, I feel 50 (back when I was young…lol!). I do wear warmer colors a lot. I was delighted to find a pair of chocolate brown sandals that are also comfy! I often soften the possibility of drabness with a scarf or colored jewelry that accents the outfit. Love your bible verses of the day and the stories of your daily life. Keep up the good work! Love it all!
I know what you mean about feeling younger.
Brown isn’t in my wheelhouse of colors I think I can wear. You pull it off and there are good choices of style. I like the tiered maxi dress but in another color.
love these brown dresses!
I wud not have even looked at brown in a store.
I wouldn’t have looked at it twice in the store either. But, I saw it was trending, and decided to try them for everyone.
I love brown and it’s supposed to be my neutral as a fall. It’s been hard to find the last few years. All I could find was cognac and tan and to me that is not brown. I love the brown shirt dress and the knit short one. Too much jiggles to wear the maxi one. That was the style I wore back in the day with no bra and I was smaller busted.
Love, love, love the new haircut!
Love, love, love the cute me cut!
I do like brown. I love many of the looks you showed us today. The first and second looks are so pretty. I have the printed brown dress. I haven’t worn it yet, but I love the way it fits. Now I can wear it knowing I am on trend.
Love the new hair style!
Love, love , love the new hair do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks fabulous on you! My favorite dress is the split neck from Ann Taylor Loft! It is stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!! I may have to purchase that one!
Thanks. It will take a while before I’m able to style it to suit me.
Great dress selections and love your new cut
I love brown! Especially with a lot of gold jewelry and natural leather sandals! That collared dress from Loft is SO cute! I’m glad your home safe, and I love your hair! Happy Memorial Day❤️🇺🇸💙
I have never worn much brown but I do like a mocha shade. The polka dot midi is pretty and I love the Talbots classic knit dress. Good choices!
The brown dresses are cute. Being I live here in Central Florida this is perfect for our falls
Love love love the browns!!! I also love your hair cut!!! Looks amazing!
Love the haircut – sassy and flattering! What styling product(s) are you using?
Brown dresses are very pretty.
I don’t use a lot of styling products. If I use anything, it is a root lifter and a heat protectant.
I love brown and always have some shade of it in my wardrobe. Really, those lazy times are the best ones with family. 😊
LOVE your hair! I’d like to see all views of your hair. I really like the controlled messy look!
PS, I also like your fashion post today!
I’m still trying to figure out how to style my hair. It will take me a couple of weeks before I get the hang of it.
Brown is okay for a bottom but not a dress or a top. Just like yellow, it is not flattering for my skin tone.
There are a lot of different shades of brown, so I’m sure there is one that would work with your skin tone.
I love brown, but don’t usually wear chocolate brown in the spring and summer. I prefer the lighter browns or neutrals. Since I had a color analysis done, my specific shade of brown is mushroom or a rosy brown. I have had a very difficult time finding that shade!
You should be able to find mushroom easier this year. It has been a trending color.
When I was young my mom bought me a brown and bleu dress. I hated it. I promised myself that my kids would never wear brown. I had three girls and a boy and not one of them ever wore brown. Now I’m older and love to wear brown. Love the dresses you show us this morning.
Lol! This story made me smile.
I, like you, love color. Black, brown and gray used to be my go to “colors”. Then a friend of mine reminded me not to put myself under a bushel but let my light shine! I never went back so I’m not a fan of brown any longer. Thanks my dearest friend Helen. Enjoy the light.
Love the brown! One of my favorite dresses was brown- I wore it to my Mom’s funeral.
Me and my very close friend went shopping for it and did the same when her Mother died. Warm memories💓
I love the dress from Talbots.
Great brown dresses!
For me as a winter in coloring I would accessorize with brown in shoes, jewelry, belts and skirts. I love white as base and these touches of brown. I cannot wear brown near my face or any earthy color.
Like you, I like a pop of color. Brown SCREAMS fall of the year. Of course, I could buy them now and save for September and October in SC. It will still be warm enough to wear them. My summer wardrobe….no way! Pink, teal, green, etc. Happy Memorial Day!
I love brown clothing and am glad it’s easy to find this season.
The j Jill elliptical one is great!
