Gurls, you know I love alerting you to new trends. Have you heard of the vanilla girl aesthetic? It’s all about a style that revolves around a mostly neutral off-white look. No need to go searching for items. I’m happy to share with you the best of the vanilla girl aesthetic trend to wear now!

How I Recently Wore The Vanilla Girl Aesthetic Trend

I prefer to add a camel or beige to my Vanilla Girl Aesthetic outfit. Sometimes cream, ivory, or off-white can wash me out, and adding camel or beige helps to keep me from looking so ghostly. I love this gorgeous outfit; it is CHIC with a capital C!

Here is the base outfit without the long coat. Which look do you prefer? If you prefer to add a coat, but not one that is camel, then check out the one below.

This plaid double-breasted coat would go great with any of the vanilla girl aesthetic items I’ve listed below. You can choose to go either dressy or casually; it is the color combo that matters, not the style.

The Best Of The Vanilla Girl Aesthetic Trend To Wear Now – Sweaters

If I could only own one sweater, it would be a cable knit. They are a CLASSIC. This is oversized, so don’t worry if you don’t like things tight. It’s relaxed and long, so pair it with a great pair of jeans or leggings!

I love this batwing sweater! The sleeves are gorgeous, including the cuffs. And, of course, the v-neck is universally flattering. This is a nice medium-weight sweater, and it comes in a variety of colors if vanilla isn’t your favorite flavor. Lol!

It doesn’t get any cozier than UGG. They put the UGG in SNUGGLE. 🙂 I have a very similar one from Barefoot Dreams that I wear all of the time. Half the time, I wear it like a robe in the morning! Available also in gray and tan.

The Best Of The Vanilla Girl Aesthetic Trend To Wear Now – Lounge Wear

Wear this out for a cute look, or lounge at home. Either way, you’ll look amazing. This is rendered in bouclé, a super soft texture that is as cozy as a cocoon! Pair this with leather leggings to elevate the look, or keep it casual with jeans. Me, I’m pairing it with my softest pj bottoms and lounging on the couch.

This is what I’m talking about! These fuzzy fleece pajamas are perfect for rocking the vanilla girl aesthetic. These are warm and cozy, but the best part? Reviewers say they actually breathe! They are oversized, so keep that in mind. Also, if you’re looking for something a bit darker, they come in many different colors.

How about some comfy sweater pants?! I love the flared silhouette and the wide waistband. Even though they look very expensive, the care is fairly easy. Made from 50% polyester and 50% rayon, they are machine washable.

Do you live in the Arctic? Maybe you want to turn off your heat to save some money? Lol. Well, these fluffy pajamas are sure to keep you warm and cozy! The fine print says that these will keep you warm in -4-degree temperatures! They come in lots of cute colors and are under $50 dollars.

Two-piece sweatsuits are all the rage right now! I remember when everyone wore them years ago, and I’m so glad they’re back. What could be easier than throwing on a matching top and bottom with your favorite sneakers? Also available in chocolate, blue, wine, and others!

The Best Of The Vanilla Girl Aesthetic Trend To Wear Now – Dress

Finally, here’s a cozy long-sleeve sweater dress -a great representation of the vanilla girl aesthetic. Lost & Wonder is a brand I’ve loved for a while. Nordstrom has this paired with a short pair of booties, but you could also wear tall boots. If a dress isn’t your cup of tea, throw it over some skinny jeans or leggings!

Had you heard of the vanilla girl aesthetic before today? Are you now a fan? Let me know in the comments if you’ll be adding this trend to your closet.

  1. I’m loving your vanilla outfit! Absolutely classic.

  2. The vanilla outfits are cute but that color is not for me. This year I am concerned about core clothes since I just started following you. Next year I can do the extras.

  3. Love the quiet elegance of the vanilla trend…a nice break from black. You have given me so many options on how to wear the vanilla trend. Thank you!

  4. That picture could have been of my childhood – swear I had the same outfit! LOL!

  5. I love the long sleeved sweater dress!

  6. I have always loved “Winter White” so this in not new. When it comes to fashion though someone always wants to come up with a new catchy name….to sell more of course. The trouble with “Vanilla” is that to me it sounds like an ice cream about to melt all over everything LOL I think I will just keep wearing my Winter White and keep the ice cream in my freezer

  7. Jacque Abell says:

I love vanilla tops or pants but would pair them with light pink, rust or beige items. I probably should not wear vanilla anything as I seem to get stuff on my outfits. I’m a dirt magnet.

  8. Love the vanilla look(didn’t know it was a trend, either). The loungewear looks so cozy! Also loved the Sears catalogue, used to put outfits together for fun..

  9. I actually have a cable knit oversized sweater I got years ago in Ireland, and it’s perfect vanilla. The gorgeous cable knit pants are sold out, but the Vanilla Girl thing is lovely, although if I wear it head to foot I’ll be invisible! haha!

  10. Roberta Schwandner says:

I think winter white is a beautiful and very classy looking.

  11. Janice Nagle says:

Yes! I’m a vanilla girl! I have a cream sweater and pants and vanilla ankle boots. adding a 3rd piece changes it up a lot! I have used coats, scarves, a long duster. and it’s good on it’s own with jewelry. and yes! I remember the days when my wardrobe came from sears

  12. I have always loved winter white! These are all so pretty

  13. I remember shopping from the JCPenney, Sears and Montgomery Ward catalogs. I always looked forward to seeing them in the mail. We couldn’t afford to buy everything we liked but one or two items. I like wearing neutrals like ivory beige and camel. I didn’t know it was called vanilla dressing.

  14. I love the first outfit. Nothing looks more sophisticated or elegant than a winter white (vanilla) outfit!!!!

  15. Loved your introduction today! My mama sewed all my clothes but she ordered my panties from Sears! Basic white every year!

  16. sue ann koren says:

I didn’t know this was a trend but I love it – going to see what pieces work in my wardrobe to recreate these looks!

  17. Sherry Haggard says:

Love the vanilla choices and the plaid coat ❤️

  18. Marilyn Byrnside says:

As a colorblind mother in the 70’s, I loved the matchy-matchy sets. There was a brand called Garanimals that had animal tags on them. If the tags matched, the pieces could be worn together. I wish I could find a women’s brand like that! We all had bangs like your sister’s back in the 50’s. Our moms used tape to hold hair in place while they cut😦

    1. I remember Garanimals! What a great concept. I agree; it would be useful for fashions now!

  19. Kathy Rupff says:

Hi Tania, Yes, I remember those outfits as a child. I loved them! As I remember, I had a pink/orange and and blue/green striped topa with matching solid pants/shorts. So easy to decide what to wear, LOL! Thank you so much for sharing your photos and mentioning this. Sears catalogs – yes!
I’m always leaning something new on your blog. Love this vanilla look!! 🙏💗

  20. My sisters and I had those same outfits! Still miss getting the Christmas Wish Books! Love a cream colored sweater for a winter look!

  21. Lynda Brown says:

Love the camel coat outfit. Though mother sewed most of our clothes, we would get our ideas from the J.C.Penny catalog. Btw, you’re doing a great job styling the new haircut ♥️.

    1. Love the vanilla looks especially with the camel coat. I have 4-5 vanilla or cream sweaters and love them, they go with everything!

  22. I love this for winter. Vanilla/winter white…it’s all good to me. I ordered the batwing sweater for pics we have this weekend. 🙂

  23. Ginger Hiller says:

Thanks for doing this post! One day last week I wore a vanilla top and pants with a caramel corduroy jacket and caramel mules. The one thing that bothered me about the outfit is that the two pieces were not the same color. Deciphering between warm and cool tones is not easy for me, so I just hoped that they were the same tone, owned the outfit, and went about my day. The plaid coat you styled is beautiful!

  24. Louise Logan says:

Love that vanilla vibe for winter!!

  25. I love both coats! I just wish I lived somewhere that was cold enough to wear them!! You always find the cutest clothes. Winter white is one of my favorites. The broach you’re wearing, is it Chanel? Gorgeous!

    1. It is a Chanel “inspired” brooch. It is just as pretty without the cost.

  26. I didn’t know it, but I’m a “Vanilla Girl”! I love wearing vanilla or winter-white during the fall and winter.

  27. The outfits look great on you. I guess I would be worried about getting them dirty or spilling something on them🤪

  28. I like vanilla! I like it best in a pretty sweater.

  29. Had not heard of the Vanilla Girl trend. I like the plaid coat and cable sweater, not sure I would wear vanilla top to bottom though…. I think I had that pink striped shirt set when I was little, ha. Didn’t everyone shop at Sears?

  30. Hi Tania! I’m originally from Canada ( Alberta) and we didn’t have JC Penney but we would get the “ Sears” catalog and I would pour over it every fall, and spring and order from there!!!
Loved the excitement when my packages would arrive!!!!

  31. Love the 2 piece sweatsuit!! Just ordered it in dark gray.

  32. The camel coat outfit is great. Also, love the warm and fuzzy loungewear sets/pjs.

  33. Love the vanilla girl trend. In 1995 I had a long white sweater dress, as I was getting ready for work one morning my 5 year old daughter came in and said “Mommie, you so pretty. You look like a big fat Ice Keem Cone” I told her Thank You sweetheart,, but needless to say that white sweater dress went to goodwill that day. Yes, in her eyes that was the ultimate compliment,,,had she not said FAT Ice Keem Cone 🙂

  34. Jenniffer Groski says:

So many comfy cozy options and love the long plaid coat.

  35. I love this trend but I don’t know if it is for me. As a redhead I tend to look washed out in beige and creams, so I would probably not wear it head to toe. Plus I am a dirt magnet. lol

  36. Oh the Sears catalog! I loved the Lemon Frog section when I was young! I love this trend, but being blond, I feel like I look like a large qtip! You look fantastic! Love the camel coat. Happy Tuesday❤❤❤

    1. Happy Tuesday! ❤️❤️❤️

  37. You look like you should be strolling down the streets of Paris in that first outfit. I can relate to do many of the stories that you tell about your childhood. I can remember having two matching outfits from Sears that had corduroy stirrup pants and striped tops. Do you remember those little sales circulars you would get with things from the large catalogs in them marked down?

    1. Oh, yes! I remember those.

  38. Mary Carol says:

I really do love this trend. I watched a video recently and heard it called “marshmallow cream”.
Visited my daughter yesterday and she had on a pretty sweater in the vanilla shade. Now I think I need one too.

  39. Linda Shearer says:

I didn’t know it was called vanilla girl looks but I love all these looks just the same.

  40. I didn’t know this trend was called “vanilla”! 😳 I thought it was called monochromatic. Anyway, I’m into it! Love the cozy knit sets. Adorable photo of you and your sister. I know I had the same outfit you’re wearing! LOL! We used to buy casual clothes from Sears and Montgomery Ward back then!

  41. Virginia Dodds says:

Love the vanilla look, especially paired with camel.

  42. Oh my gosh, I had the same outfit when I was a kid!!!
Sure made getting dressed easy! 😉

  43. One of my favorite colors to wear in the fall/winter. Love these ideas. Especially the wide leg pants, the sweater and pajamas!! This is a precious picture of you and your sister. I love looking through old photos.

  44. I had not heard of this! I don’t usually wear this color as I’m not good with it – seems I always spill food, get a pen mark, etc., when I wear it. 🤣🤣🤣 I absolutely love the batwing sweater, though, and that might change my mind. 😜

  45. You so great in these outfits! I would buy them all but my family does not dress up at all and I have no parties to attend. But, I still enjoy all your post.

  46. Love this look. Had not heard of it before your post. Thank you!

  47. I love a monochromatic look! The camel coat gets my vote! It is such a classic look
    and looks great on you!

  48. the first vanilla outfit looks lovely on you

  49. Glada St Clair says:

    I love the vanilla outfits.

  50. Always a fan of wearing all off white in the winter. However the phrase “vanilla girl”is new to me. Thanks for keeping us all in the know. Yes, agreed your first outfit with the camel coat is very Chic.

  51. I never wear this color. So I have pass on these.
they do look warm and cozy.
    Thanks for showing them.

    1. Vanilla is a great color for women like Springs and autumns that can wear this color with the yellow that is in it. For us winters and summers, we have to go with white otherwise, our skin undertones look sickly.

      1. CyndeeKay🌻 says:

Tania, You look stunning in the vanilla outfit! I found yesterday”s Spanx like outfit comes in vanilla. I saw several people( women & young men) in the airport dressed in vanilla travel sets with sneakers. Looked very comfortable for travel.

      2. That’s true Carol. I’m an autumn so ivory is my color. I will still wear white but I don’t look as good in it as ivory or winter white.

  52. I especially like the fluffy fleece 2 pc pj set. it is probably too warm to wear to bed but it would be great to lounge in the house.
The vanilla is pretty and fresh.
Because I am fair like you Tania, I would definitely add some subtle color.

    1. I think the 2pc set would be great around the house on a cold snowy day.

  53. Your first outfit had a Katherine Hepburn “vibe” .. lovely on you.
Loved the cozy pajamas and lounger sets.

  54. Love these looks!! Basic and timeless

  55. I’ve always been a vanilla girl! ❤️❤️

  56. I like the vanilla outfit with the camel coat. I don’t think I’m a fan of this. Especially with black being one of my favorite colors! Loved childhood picture of you&your sister!

    1. I think cream/off-white and camel look fabulous together.

  57. Wow nice Ugg cardigan

  58. Gay Manning says:

I love the vanilla girl look-looks so cozy and warm 🤗

  59. Karen Daniel says:

I didn’t know it was a trend but now I realize I have some nice off white pieces so I can create this type of look!

  60. I was recently looking for a cream sweater. Haven’t owned one in years. If I wore one of the cozy sets I’m not sure I would want to do anything all day except read or watch tv!

    1. Oooh, that sounds like a good plan for a cold, or rainy day

  61. We were just talking about the old JC Penney and Sears catalogs! Not only for the items they contained but because I could use one to sit on in the car (to see better)😂😂
Love all the vanilla clothes in this post too.
