I’ve shown you some great leather items over the course of my blog. What can I say? It’s a classic! Years ago, fake leather items felt cheap, but we’ve come a long way. Most people can’t tell the difference anymore! Today, I’m sharing the best faux leather clothing for women over 50.

The Best Faux Leather Clothing For Women Over 50 – Pants

These faux leather ponte leggings from Ann Taylor and are available in regular and petite. I love the way these feel and fit, and I like that they are Ponte on the back and faux leather on the front. These are straight-leg, hit at the ankle, and, most importantly, very stylish!

Halogen is a great brand that I’ve bought many times from Nordstrom. These have a straight-leg silhouette and would add a bit of WOW to any event. It’s hard to believe, but these are machine-washable! I mean, what? These are ankle-length, so keep that in mind when purchasing.

I know I’ve shared these before, but I love these faux leather leggings from Spanx. Here is a photo from 2019, but I wore these last Christmas to an art show with cute boots and a great sweater, and looked very chic. You can wear them with flats, booties, or tall boots. The options are endless. Available in Regular and Petite sizes.

The Best Faux Leather Clothing For Women Over 50 – Coats

This jacket has quickly become my favorite! I love the feel of the leather; it is buttery soft. I never thought that I would prefer a bomber jacket over my moto jacket, but I actually like it better.

I love a classic black trench, and as soon as I bought this one, it sold out. I felt like I should be in the movie The Matrix every time I put it on, so I ended up sending it back.

This classic longline coat would give me the same look, but not The Matrix vibe. Lol! It has a polished shawl collar and a pink liner, and again, is machine washable. The color is officially called “mink”. I’m not sure what that means, but it looks like a cross between brown and pink. Either way, I like it!

I love the caramel Faux Leather Double Breasted Blazer, and I’ve worn it several times this fall and winter. It is down to only a few sizes, so hopefully, your size is still available. The Baby Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater is one I bought earlier this fall. I had bought Quince’s $50 cashmere sweaters, and I saw they had a “baby cashmere,” which made me curious. Baby cashmere fibers are finer for a premium feel, meaning the sweater is super soft. I’m now officially hooked on baby cashmere!!! I’m wearing a large, but I sent it back for a medium since it was a little big on me.

A moto jacket is one of my favorite looks. I love the silver hardware details. Just because you’re over 50 doesn’t mean you can’t add a little edge to your fashion. It feels like you age backwards at least ten years the minute you slip on one of these jackets.

I know a biker jacket isn’t for everyone. Never fear; this is a more classic version of the racing jacket. It’s from Levi’s, so you know it’s a classic! It still has the zippers and a cool buckled throat detail, but it’s not overly decorated. Black is never going to go out of style, but it also comes in several other, lighter colors.

Stormy Sky Faux Leather Vest (Size 1) | Knit Woven Mix Pullover Sweater (Size 1) | Girlfriend Jeans (Size .05) | David Yurman Cable Classics Hoop Earrings | Large Cross 14k Yellow Gold Pendant Necklace (Similar)

I LOVE this faux leather vest! It is heavier than I imagined it would be, and the color is amazing. The color reminds me of pewter, but they are calling it stormy sky. The vest is of great quality, and I love that the side panels are a knit material, so it stretches and moves with you.

Look how elegant this faux leather pencil skirt is. This would work for the office or a date night with the hubby. I think these pointed-toe heels look great with it, but you could also wear boots, both ankle booties and taller versions.

Va-Va-Voom! This dress from Steve Madden is gorgeous. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a faux leather dress with ruching. It looks amazing. The snap closures on the front and cuffs are a subtle detail.

I love how supple the “leather” looks. The Night Sky color is so unexpected; I immediately added it to my cart, so expect to see it on the blog soon. Pair this with jeans for a day look, or dress it up for a night out on the town. This is what I’m talking about!!!

Faux leather is everywhere, and for good reason. Let me know in the comments if you’ll be adding one of these items to your winter wardrobe.

Crocs- I hate crocs! They are just ugly to me but children and grandchildren love them. Oh well!

  2. I’m not a crocs fan, but my son and daughter-in-law love them. I prefer Birkenstocks.

  3. I do like crocs, and 2 of the nurses I work with wear them and love them. They don’t work for me though.
I have some feet issues. :/
And I do like the faux leather jackets & coats !
It all looks cute on you! Thanks for sharing.

  4. I have never worn crocs. There are shoes out there that feel comfortable but look much better. That’s my opinion, but to each his own.

  5. Crocs, yes. I have a leopard print pair with patent toes, and need to get new navy ballet flats as soon as I can. I don’t like the original Crocs, but there are a lot of classier styles.

  6. Thérèse Barry says:

I tried to reply from my phone but I don’t think it went through; if this comes to you twice, I apologize.
Crocks, when getting worn, get very slick, so it’s best to keep an eye on the bottoms. I have pink ones that I wear in the summer to the pool and outside for gardening and such. I have lined ones I wear in the winter. I don’t love them but they are comfortable enough.
As per faux leather: Without a doubt, I prefer real leather. Some of the faux leather looks nice enough but it just isn’t the same. I can’t help but feel like one is wearing an airport sofa. I know that real leather is much more expensive but great deals can be had. I’d rather have way fewer pieces that are higher quality and will last much longer. I might wear the faux leggings but likely they would be too hot for me. while I live where it gets very cold, I overheat easily.

    1. I like faux leather for some items. For jackets and coats, I would rather have leather, but for leggings or tops, faux leather is just fine.

  7. Never say never! Crocs may not be the most fashionable but, they are a well padded comfy shoe. Makes a great house shoe, especially in black glitter. 😉

  8. Crocs may not be the height of fashion but it’s hard to find a more comfortable house shoe. I have a sheepskin lined pair as my winter slippers and love them to bits. Even my husband is a convert with his size 14 feet! I can’t see myself in faux leather pants but I still love the look of Tina Turner’s black leather skirt from the 80’s!

  9. I’m a no-go for faux. Also think Uggs are the ugliest footwear ever invented. Same for Crocs. I don’t care how fashionable others consider these items, they won’t live in my house.

  10. Maybe I am in the minority, but I find Crocs to be very comfortable. As for wearing faux leather, a coat yes but at 72, I don’t think I will be trying the pants anytime soon!

  11. Crocs in my opinion, like others who had the same opinion are just UGLY! Great for kids, but there are a lot of other shoes that are more comfortable for adults! I think the flip flops are ok… but oofos are sooo much more comfortable! Croc lovers, enjoy your shoes at home but if you decide to wear them out… just know they are not cute or fashionable!

Above comments are my opinion ONLY, but were also asked for by Tania. XOXO

  12. No I wouldn’t ever wear crocs.

  13. I’m still not sure about faux leather, but I do love the bomber jacket!

  14. I wear Oofos and love them! They are recommended by a podiatrist! If you have a foot issue they are nice but I only wear them around the house.

  15. Crocs are just plain ugly. Not fashionable but functional for some. But there are better options for function as you have posted

  16. The Quince bomber jacket is REAL leather, not faux.

    1. Whoops. I forgot, it is REAL leather. Lol!

  17. I say “NO” to crocs! I think they are cute for kids and easy for children to slip on, but not fashionable for women. (My opinion only!)

  18. I have a faux leather and suede moto jacket in soft gold that’s petty sharp! I bought my daughter the faux leather Ponte pants and may have to try them myself. I have Crocs flip clips which are so comfy!

  19. I wear Crocs flip flops all summer and their slides when I have to cook a big meal.

  20. Dawn Spanie says:

OMG Tania, the argyle outfit is one of the classiest looks I’ve seen you post! You styled it to perfection from head to toe. The argyle sweater set, the side-zip faux leather pants, and the coach boots – I always say you wear it better than the company models. Thank you again for a great post!

    1. Wow! I may have to try an pin this comment to the top. Lol!

      1. It is a great looking outfit!

  21. Truth I will not be adding faux leather clothing to my wardrobe. Even though it looks good it’s not going to last long. Every jacket I ever had ended up peeling or cracking. They were not cheap either. I remembered my Wilson’s lamb leather blazer I bought in 1999. It was so soft and lasted so long. I donated it a few years ago but I should have kept it. So recently I ordered a lamb leather jacket from Wilson’s. It’s nice but I still think the old one was better. I like the items you showed. The only faux leather coat I have is a trench wrap around in that mink color. So far it hasn’t peeled. I haven’t worn it much because it’s not warm at all. That’s the other thing about faux leather. Sorry I rambled so much buy you did ask the question.

  22. Just say NO to crocs! Or wait for a discarded pair from kid/grandkid!

Even on sale they are too expensive and ugly for any price above $10!

So many cute shoes out there, waaaay cuter than crocs, and more comfy too.

My husband wears them all the time and his feet have spread!

  23. Crocs don’t appeal to me. I wear Vionic slippers with rubber sole . Podiatrist said crocs should not be worn all day, as there are areas of the shoe that aren’t supportive for long time wear. They would be okay for gardening I would think.

I like the look of leather, but I find the faux leather is too warm for me to wear.

  24. You asked about crocs – My friend wears crocs all the time! Never any other shoe style. It cracks me up! I’ve been so tempted to purchase the small attachments for her to add to the croc top! I, personally, wouldn’t wear them, but if they’re a style someone chooses for themselves, more power to them!

  25. I love my fleece lined red Crocs! They are my winter slippers. I also have some cute Croc sandals. My favorite crocs are my pink animal print slingbacks I wear to yoga.

  26. Beautiful leather choices! I really dislike crocs and couldn’t wear them anyways as my feet are very narrow.

  27. Roberta Schwandner says:

I must admit I own about 3 pairs of crocs. When it comes to comfort you can’t beat them. They are not the most stylish shoes for sure.

  28. Therese Barry says:

As per Crocks…the heels get super slick after repeated wear so I have pitched a couple of pairs. I wear them to the pool and I’ve got a lined one I wear sometimes in the winter.
I would like a pair of the faux leather leggings I think, though they may be too hot. But for other items, I prefer real leather. It’s expensive but great sales can be found. I just like the look and feel of real. I admit that there are some garments that look good – Im thinking the leggings – but it’s hard for me to not feel like I’m wearing an airport sofa.

  29. You look great in leather. I don’t think I need to go there, lest I look like the original owner of the leather. 😀

  30. Ginger Hiller says:

I do have a pair of CROCS that I wear as house shoes with my extra thick socks. However, I don’t love them b they are so huge. The faux leather riders jacket is so cute.

  31. The faux leather they make nowadays is unbelievably buttery soft and looks so real. I’m now debating…do I really need a third faux leather coat, I think I do 🤣

  32. Jenniffer Groski says:

Love, love the faux leather skirts!!!

  33. The moto jacket in the frappe color is gorgeous. I am not wearing as much black anymore, especially near my face. The pencil skirt looks so elegant.

  34. I have a pair of “Freesail” Crocs that are narrower and not as cluncky as traditional Crocs. I wear them as house shoes. and they do feel good on my feet!

  35. Michelle Davis says:

I love my crocs-I wasn’t a fan though in the past. I started wearing them this past summer when we went camping and noticed how comfortable they were along with ease of use to slip on quick in a pinch. I even went for walks in them and really liked how comfortable and good my feet felt afterward- comfort is everything at my age. I’m convinced- I just ordered a glitter pair and a pair of sandals with the fur lining. Excited for their arrival. I also love faux leather I have the Chicos faux leather dress. I think faux leather looks classic without spending a ton of money on leather.

  36. I love the look of faux leather!

  37. I leave a pair of Crocs near the door. I wear them to take out trash and pick up the mail. I don’t wear them in public!

  38. Lori Lorenzini says:

I have never worn or owned a pair of crocs, I don’t like the look of them. But I think if a women over 50 wants to wear them she should.

  39. Not sure about faux leather. Is the fabric breathable?

I have a pair of Crocs that I wear outside in the yard and when I go to a pool. Also, my grands love their Crocs. So many cute and funny styles.

  40. Celene Cardenas says:

I think crocs are comfy but not stylish and do better with the young crowd.

  41. I don’t have any leather or faux leather pants but they sure look good on you. I do not wear crocs but my grandson loves them! He also decorates them with pins.

  42. I cannot wear them because of one bad foot, but my cousin Sharon wears them & loves them 😁

  43. You absolutely should buy the crocs if you love them. It is what makes you happy and feel good, not determined by age. 😊

Happy New Year and many blessings!

  44. I do wear Crocs ( fuzzy lined ) but only in the house, sometimes walking down the street to the mailbox. They’re very comfortably wide in the toe box for anyone with bunion issues. Not very stylish but I love my Crocs.

  45. I used to HATE Crocs. But over the last few years I have acquired a few pair to wear inside the house. Why? because at my 8-minutes away grandchildren’s house, they take their shoes off inside the house and put on slippers or indoor shoes. So I keep a pair of Crocs there permanently (I bought them in HI and they are “slimmer” than any I have seen since.) That morphed into buying a pair for inside my house, as they are fairly supportive, have a wide toe box, and are easy to slip off and put on a pair of “outside” Crocs when the grandsons are here as we go in and out constantly. That morphed into the the lined “fuzzy” Crocs for the winter! Each grandchild and their parents have Crocs they keep here to slip on when they arrive. And a pair of outdoor Crocs have replaced my gardening shoes because the Crocs feel better. The website runs sales–sign up for their emails. I don’t think I have bought any pair full price, except a pair of dark gray glitter Crocs for the 5-yo after he saw the ones I had bought on sale for his younger brother.

    1. Mary Carol says:

I keep a comfy pair of crocs beside the back door if I need to go out with the dogs.
I also have a stylish pair of crocs flip flops I wear when I get pedicures.
Not my favorite shoes but they come in handy.

  46. Mary Kinard says:

Never thought of faux leather in anything other than pants! Thanks for this post. I would probably only wear crocs around the house – unless you find some stylish ones!

  47. Faux leather jacket would be a piece I would buy. it would be in black.

  48. Crocs are my around the house & yard shoes! So comfortable! Wonderful to be able to wash them off & they look brand new!

  49. Maribeth Conklin says:

I wear ctocs because I have foot problems as I get older. I never in a million years would of thought I would ever wear them. So ugly. when your feet hurt you become desperate. I pretty much wear sbeakers Brooks for the wide toe box and crocks. Sad
    Nothing worse than foot pain.

    1. Maribeth, I’m on the search for Crocs that look cute.

      1. Maribeth Conklin says:

I have a light tan pair with fur lining and a light pink pair with fur lining. I mostly wear them around the house but If my feet hurt I wear them out in public and I don’t care what people think. I need a shoe with a wide tod box and no heel and arch support. Really hard yo find.

  50. Good Morning Tania, I love my fuzzy crocs! I don’t wear them out but they are my house slippers. I can go out with the dogs and my feet stay warm and dry. They are very comfortable. The ones I have they don’t make anymore they are a little sleeker feminine look but I have the regular wider ones too. Thank you for all your hard work that you do for all of us! Have a great day!

    1. I like the idea of them, but they aren’t the most stylish. Soooo, I’m searching for some that look cute.

  51. I love all of these faux leather items, & yes I wear hot pink crocs!

  52. Linda Pitts says:

I had leather pants when I was a late teen….many decades ago. Fashion repeats. Crocs around the house…not in public.

  53. I do like faux leather. I have a couple items. Good post.

  54. Lovely choices in leather.
