The Best Eyebrow Products for Women Over 50
PLEASE tell me that you’re using an eyebrow product. Let’s “face” it. Our eyebrows thin as we get older, and trying to make them look good and natural can be a chore. No one wants to look like Norma Desmond, ready for her closeup! Today we’re diving into The Best Eyebrow Products for Women Over 50 because let’s face it, our brows don’t bounce back like they used to, ha! Whether your eyebrows have thinned over time (thanks, hormones), gone a little gray, or need a little extra help, there are some amazing products out there to help.
The Best Eyebrow Products for Women Over 50
The Eyebrow Products I Use – Revlon Eyebrow Pencil and MERIT Brow 1980

I’ve always heard that your eyebrows “frame” your face. Well, my frames are pretty pitiful and hard to see if I don’t use a few eyebrow products. These are my tried and true, everyday go-to eyebrow items. Even though I try a lot of other products, I keep finding myself going back to what I know works.
I’ve been using the Revlon ColorStay Eyebrow Pencil with Spoolie Brush for several years. I like the thicker pencil that covers more area and glides on. MERIT Brow 1980 is a newer product I added a couple of months ago, and I’m liking the results it gives me. I’ve been using the light brown shade, but I ordered Taupe to see if I’ll like it any better.
While these are the products I use, I want to show you lots of products and options. For this, I rely on research, word of mouth, and reviews, so here are the other nine products that stood out to me.
Trestique Brow Pencil and Gel – 2-in-1
Now this one is smart, Gurl! It’s a pencil and gel combo in one handy, refillable tube, and it’s part of a clean beauty line. The angled pencil gives you control to fill in sparse areas, while the clear gel keeps those little hairs in place all day. I love how it cuts down on clutter in your makeup bag—Joe would be thrilled if I didn’t leave so many tubes on the bathroom counter, ha! It’s also sustainable, which is a nice bonus.
iMethod Eyebrow Pen – 4-Fork Tip & Brush
If you want that microbladed look without the commitment (or pain!), this is your girl. The 4-fork tip draws hair-like strokes that look super natural, and the brush end helps blend it all together. It lasts all day, even through those hot flashes or Easter egg hunts with the grandkids! This one’s great for creating shape and fullness without going overboard.
e.l.f. Instant Lift Brow Pencil – 2-Pack
This is a budget-friendly beauty! You get two pencils that are dual-ended with a spoolie on one side to brush and blend. The pencil glides on smoothly and gives just enough color without making your brows look too bold. Great if you’re just getting started with filling in or want something simple and quick for every day. And it’s vegan and cruelty-free, which is a win for the animals!
e.l.f. Wow Brow Gel – Neutral Brown
Need volume? This brow gel gives you that soft, full look with tiny fibers that build your brows up. It’s a wax-gel hybrid, so it holds things in place without feeling crunchy. This is great for those of us with lighter or thinning brows who just want a little oomph. I’d use this on days when you’re doing a “no makeup” makeup look—just a swipe and go!
NYX Micro Brow Pencil – Ash Brown
This pencil is super precise, which makes it perfect for detailing and drawing individual hairs. It’s great for filling in sparse spots without looking too filled in. The ash brown shade is a dream if your hair is silver or cool-toned—it won’t pull too warm. It’s got over 60,000 reviews, and I see why! Easy to throw in your cart and keep in your makeup bag.
VieBeauti Eyebrow Growth Serum
Okay, if you’re dealing with thinning brows and want to grow them back, this one’s for you. This serum helps boost longer, fuller, thicker-looking eyebrows over time. Just apply it at night and let it do the work while you sleep. I wish I had this when I over-plucked in the ‘90s!
L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer – Brunette
Here’s a version that is super fine and great for mimicking natural hair. It’s waterproof too, which makes it great for long days or humid weather. The color goes on soft and blends easily, and it’s perfect for more mature skin that needs something gentle. If you need something dependable that won’t smudge, toss this in your cart.
NYX The Brow Glue – Clear
If your brow hairs have a mind of their own, Gurl, this stuff is like magic. It gives extreme hold without making them feel stiff. Brush it on, and your brows stay put all day. There will be no flaking or mess. I’d use this after filling in for that final touch that locks everything in place. It’s clear, so it works with any pencil or powder you use.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
This one is a cult classic for a reason! The ultra-slim tip lets you create detailed, professional-quality brows. It’s perfect for outlining and adding definition without looking harsh. If you want that clean, lifted look, this is a must. It’s a little pricier, but you only need a light hand—this baby lasts. I’d say this is the little black dress of brow products!
Alright, that’s my list of The Best Eyebrow Products for Women Over 50! Whether you’re a brow beginner or a seasoned pro, these picks will help you shape, define, and fluff your brows like a beauty queen. With the right product, your brows can bring structure to your whole face—and maybe even take a few years off! Let me know what you’re loving or adding to your cart. And remember: full brows, full life! Ha!

Isaiah 43:2 (NIV)
2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.

I use the E.L.F. And love it
😊I prefer the eyebrow gel over the pencil. I use the gel made by It Cosmetics.
😊Good choices for me to try.
:)found it.
Thank you for the many choices and comments on this important complement to our appearance. I agree with a commenter, it would be helpful to have a little tutorial – I too feel like I over do the enhancements.
😀 Thank you for the information on the eyebrow products. I am always looking for great eyebrow products.
🙂 Found it!!! I use the Anastasia pencil or the NYX pencil. Very hard to get them to look right, because although I have very small eyebrows one side is grey and the other side is brown. Always something.
🙂 I use eyebrow serum
😊 I use the Elf for no makeup days at home. Now that I’m older I have to do my eyebrows no matter what along with lipstick. I’ve tried different eyebrows pencil and gels but the best one for me is Tarte eyebrow gel. It’s the only thing that covers the gray hair in my eyebrows.
😀 I use the elf one daily but think I will try the clear glue product. enjoyed your posts as always! thank you
😊 My brows are thinning now; just another challenge of being in my 60’s. I’m interested in that iMethod pen – I’m going to give it a try!
I use Anastasia eyebrow pencil from Sephora, but I really like some of your choices.
I wish my brows would thin out a bit. I just ordered the NYX brow glue. Hopefully that will tame them. ☺️
🙂 These are good choices. But I will stick to my regular Benefit ” Gimme Brow” and Brow Microfilling Pen. I’m very happy with them.
I have used the elf product . 😊
Thank you for the information on eyebrow products. I so need this. I’m quite nervous to try them. I don’t want to look like a clown. 😁
🙂 found it
I would love to have you do a tutorial on grooming and applying product.
I always feel that it looks unnatural when I am done applying a brow pencil
found it!
:). Lately I have not been pleased with even the expensive brow products I have used. I need to try something new. Thank you for this information!
I have been wanting to try something similar to the hair-like eyebrow pencils but thought they would be cost prohibitive. Glad to know it is affordable. If anyone is considering eyebrow stencils, I don’t recommend them. You almost need another set of hands to use them.
Found it 🙂 !!!
I’ve tried those too, but wasn’t impressed.
🙂I have been using the elf wow brow gel for over a year and love it. I might try the brow growth serum for my sparse eyebrows!
😊Agree with everyone that I definitely have to put something on so my eyebrows show up! Thank you for the suggestions
🙂
Great info. I use the e.l.f. one now. Will try the merit soon too!
😊 I had my eyebrows permanently done 🫣
😀 I use eyebrow pencil, brush, and eyebrow gel to smooth them and cause them to stay in place
Great ideas for us who struggle with our eyebrows
🙂 Thanks for the recommendations!
😀. I have used the Revlon pencil for years and love it! My brows are so light and sparse, I need all the help I can get!
🙂 I’m going to try the Method beauty brand. I’m 75 and years of plucking have made my brows very sparce. thanks for the ideas
🙂 Love the pink lipstick you have on in the first photo – what is it called?
I just have a tiny bit of the MERIT lip oil on. I didn’t plan on taking photos, so I don’t have on a full face of makeup.
🙂 Another post full of so much information and something for everyone! TY!
🙂. I am constantly telling my 14 year old granddaughter to never pluck her eyebrows!! One of the biggest mistakes I made in my youth.
😊 Eyebrow pencil is tricky for me. Thanks for the suggestions.
😊Anastasia is my go to but that Imethod one looks interesting!
exactly the post I needed! 😊
🙂 I am so glad you did this post. I have been fretting about my awful brows and now I have some tools to fix the problem.
🙂 thanks for the choices.
Wow this is linked in Google News today under “Beauty.”
Yay!!! I love it when Google shares my posts!
🙂
I love elf products for trying out new types of products. Eyebrows are such a a challenge as we get older!
🙂 I always use a brow tint and brow pencil.
I use the Loreal and Elf ones. Both come in taupe and are waterproof. Loreal is a finer pencil and Elf is a thick pencil. Found it.
😊
😊I use benefits goof proof eyebrow pencil
🙂 I am always looking for eyebrow products that look natural and stay on since I no longer have eyebrows. It’s hard! I’m going to try a couple of these and see how they work. Thanks for the different suggestions!
I’ve also noticed as I mature my eyebrows won’t hold tint. My hairdresser used to tint them with my base color, but it won’t hold the color anymore. 😭 Thank goodness we have great products available to help! My brows are very light. My fave right now is Mary Kay’s brow kit in blonde – pomade, color, and highlighter in one kit!
Thanks for the verse today (I needed it), and I hope your husband feels much better!
🙂 I use the e.l.f. Wow Brow. It’s pretty great to just plump up what’s there and keep them tamed. I’ve tried several different kinds of things. Might try the 4 Fork Tip too. Tried one similar and liked it for a little bit. It played out too quickly and then I was just smudging brown on my skin. ha
🙂 I have tried a few of these and they just didn’t work. My brows are almost non existent. I think I will try the Revelon one this time.
🙂 Thank you for sharing this. I need to invest in these products. Mine are over plucked and very grey. 😟
🙂 I have hardly any eyebrows left so finding an eyebrow product that stays on and doesn’t look completely fake has become quite a challenge. Thanks for the recommendations.
😊 I use the NYX but may try some of these
😊 I use Estée Lauder eye brow pencil. I will check out the brow glue though…😊 Thanks for the post!
🙂 found it. My eyebrows are the first thing I do in my makeup routine. Can’t leave home without them. Haha
🙂 I love Brow Whiz and NYX glue too!
Tania, I hope all the above things help Joe to feel better soon!!
Love a good eyebrow pencil! I tweezzed my eyebrown to death as a teenager and I sure regret it now! Have a blessed day! 🙂
It’s hard not to over do the darker brow colors. But I’m learning. 🙂
😄 Boy, are you ever correct about the thinning brows and gray hairs. I enjoy the e.l.f. and nyx but the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade is my absolute favorite.
🙂I use busy gal brows
😊 Just the post I needed! I’ve been struggling to find a good brow product for my thin almost nonexistent brows! I see several I want to try.
I couldn’t find it.
Nice range of choices
🙂 This post is just what I needed! I’ve used a few products and am currently using light brown eyeshadow, lol.
I so enjoy your post although a lot of of the clothes I can’t wear because I’m 5’1 and they are just too long/big on me. Anywhoo, I just wanted to pass along an eyebrow product that I have found and love. It is by Revant. The pencil is tiny, and I thought you would never work, but I cannot believe how natural it looks when you do it in short brush strokes. They also have eyeliner and mascara that I love as well. None of it flakes and stays all day. Give it a try! I have to say, I used the L’Oreal you mentioned, as well as their mascara, and those are good.
😊 I have noticed my eyebrows are thinning out and I do use an eyebrow pencil some , but will start using one daily. Thanks for the suggestions for these eyebrow products!
🙂
I find it hard to get the proper shade for my coloring. I am very ashy and most blonde shades have a reddish tone which doesnt work for me. I use Benefit eyebrow products now, but I used to use MAC in Omega until they discontinued the regular brow pencil. The MAC Pro Brow Definer mechanical pencil didnt carry that shade and didnt last very long, so I changed to Benefit Goof Proof & Gimme Brow Voluminzing Pencil in shade 2.5. I am happy with Benefit and they do both a mechanical and regular pencil which I prefer.
😃. Love a good eyebrow pencil.
found it.
😊Thanks for all the suggestions
Over plucking…. Ugh. I hear you! The growth serums do help. 😊
I love Jane Iredale’s brow pencil. That said, I used to use a great brow gel from the currently defunct Beauty Counter.
Found it 🙂 I have the Revlon one, which works well.
I have used the NYX micro brow and repurchased multiple times. I love a good micro pencil.
FOUND IT🙂! Tania does anything bounce back like it used to after 50?🤣. I am eyebrow challenged and I use a brow pencil from It cosmetics that I like. But I do need something to tame them so thanks for the suggestion of the brow glue.
I’ve always had very sparse brows. I had them tattooed a few years ago. I
What a difference!
🙂 My eyebrows are pretty good; maybe because I was never one to over tweeze them so they have always been a bit fuller. May not have made a beauty statement earlier in my life, but works out for me now. LOL
🙂 Recently started using NYX Microbrow in Gray. Because it is thin, its best to use it sparingly or it will not last long. It looks very natural and the color is perfect for me.
🙂 Another idea packed post!:)
Found it 🙂 I have the Elf brow pencil and I love it.
Thanks for these great ideas for brows. I use the L’Oréal product you showed in dark blonde. It works great in the Texas humidity.☺️
🙂 The hardest part of all this is finding the right shade. Then, not overdoing it. I don’t want to look like Groucho Marx!
thanks for covering this topic! I have found that Urban Decay Brow Blade is a good product. Taupe Trap is a great neutral for most women.
Does make a difference for sure. I like Anastasia and e.l.f. but will try your faves next time.
found it!
I’ve been using Revlons Tattoo Studios brow liner and their eyeliner and really love it. I also like ELF products although I haven’t tried their brow liner yet.
😊
This post is exactly the info I need!
Thank you!
😊I use the L’Oreal brow stylist definer.
😀great suggestions
😀didn’t find it, I like elf one, it’s cheap
