SWIMSUITS FOR WOMEN OVER 50 TRY-ON HAUL, PT. 2
Pt. 2 – Swimsuits For Women over 50 Try-On Haul
I first want to thank all of you who left me encouraging comments on yesterday’s Swimsuits for Women Over 50 Try-On Haul. If you ask most women over the age of 40 what the hardest thing to wear out in public is, I’m betting that swimsuits are top of the list, followed closely by mini-skirts. Here are a couple of other posts I’ve recently done on swimsuits.
Most of us aren’t a size 4 or have a perfect hourglass figure, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t wear a swimsuit. I promise you, most people (there will always be THAT one) don’t even notice you, and if they do, they’ve forgotten about it two minutes later. For sizing reference, I’m 5’6″ tall and weigh between 150-155. I usually wear a size 12 in swimsuits.
The reason that I started this blog was to help women feel confident in their skin. I’m always encouraging you to get out of your comfort zone and try new styles and trends. These swimsuits for women over 50 try-on posts are me following my own advice because they are waaaaay out of my comfort zone. You’ve heard me say that I’m built like a ruler with hardly any curves; that doesn’t change when I put on a swimsuit. If you are an apple, pear, or a rectangle shape, you will still be that shape in a swimsuit. But, please don’t let that rob you of the pleasure of going to the beach or pool in a swimsuit.
Here is a La Blanca Tummy Control One Piece in Capri Blue. This suit comes in a couple of colors, but I decided to try this one since I didn’t have a blue one. My daughter also tried this suit, and she LOVED it but said she wanted a different color. She said she didn’t want to blend in with the water and wanted a color that would stand out if she had trouble. That is something that I would have never thought of, but it does make sense.
I’m wearing a size 12, but I think that I would have preferred a 10 in this suit. It felt loose, and I didn’t feel held in, so this one will go back. My daughter is still deciding if she wants to get this in the bright pink version. The Banded Straw Visor is perfect for windy days when a floppy hat will be hard to keep on your head. This visor has a stretchy elastic band to help hold the visor on tight. Plus, the wide brim is great for keeping the sun out of your eyes. The inside of the band has a cotton lining, so the straw isn’t scratchy against your skin.
This swimsuit is one that I didn’t want to order, but my daughter wanted to try it. This One-Piece Front Crossover Swimsuit is in the color Merlot. I liked this swimsuit and thought it was way more flattering than I thought it would be. Remember, try new styles because you never know what you will like. This swimsuit comes in many colors and prints, and I’m wearing a 10-12, which fits me great.
I love the size of this Wide Brim Straw Hat! It will look great while walking on the beach or lounging by the pool. Even though I have a large head (no comments), the hat fits me great. I’m also wearing a pair of Straw Earrings that was part of a 4-pack. These earrings are lightweight and only about $3.75 each. They aren’t the best quality, but I’m wearing them to the pool, so I don’t want to wear expensive jewelry that might get lost or damaged.
The White Pearl Beaded Stretch Bracelet is one that you will see me wearing a lot this summer. Usually, I shy away from the drusy stones when I wear Kendra Scott jewelry and prefer plain gold or silver items. This bracelet and matching necklace (not shown) have made me rethink this because I love this set. I’m wearing the Iridescent Mix color, but it is available in other colors also. The gray and blue mix look like ones I could also wear often.
This Cupshe One-Piece Geo Print Swimsuit is one that I thought I would love. I have a long torso, so I don’t feel like this swimsuit looks the best on me. It would look better on those with a short torso instead. Also, you can see that the leg openings are higher cut (I always try on bathing suits with panties), and even though they aren’t horrible, I didn’t like the swimsuit.
Here is the look of the “cheek” coverage, and once again, it’s not bad. This swimsuit runs small; I’m wearing an XL.
I forgot to mention the CROC Flip Flop Sandals that I’m wearing. I love slip-on water shoes when I’m at the pool or beach. I can easily take them off if I want to walk in the sand, and they slip on quickly when I get out of the water. These have excellent ratings, and I like the way they fit. I ordered a size up to 10 because I read reviews that they ran small.
Do you love this Leopard Yellow Kimono Cover-Up as much as I am? Oh, my! This cover-up looks fabulous with so many of the suits I’ve shown you over the past two days, and you might also see me wearing this with jeans and a tee this summer. I’m not sure why my camera fuzzed the cover-up color; it is the same color and print all over the kimono. This kimono comes in lots of different colors and prints, and I’m also thinking of ordering the solid black version since I already have the white button-up cover-up. I love so many of the prints that it was hard for me to choose just one.
This Bandeau Twist Top Swimsuit is one of my favorites. I like detachable straps so that you can take them down when you are sunning. The swimsuit also has molded cups, good coverage, and the color is gorgeous. This is another swimsuit that Miraclesuit sent to me, and it is a winner! The suit comes in a couple of other colors, but I’m partial to this beautiful color. I’m wearing a size 10 in the suit, and it fits great.
I showed a Raffia/Straw Tote yesterday, and I mentioned that I had another tote that I liked even better. For some reason, I didn’t get a good photo with this Handmade Woven Shoulder Bag, so I’m showing it to you by itself. It is a great size and seems to be well-made. I also like that it is lined so nothing slips out through the weaving.
I like swimsuits with interesting prints, especially if they are also pretty colors. This Danube Bleu Tummy Control Swimsuit was sent to me by Miraclesuit, and I must say, they know how to make swimsuits look good on women.
This swimsuit is one of my favorites! It has good coverage and adjustable straps, plus I love the sweetheart neckline. I’m wearing a size 10, and it fits me great.
2 Piece Swimsuits For Women Over 50 Try-On
A two-piece swimsuit is not what I normally choose. However, if you are short-waisted, this type of swimsuit might look the best on you. This Bandeau Bikini Top in oxford blue has a twist top design and removable straps that I didn’t attach. If you are going to play in the waves, you will want to attach the straps unless you like wearing your top around your belly. Lol!!!
The Shirred High Waist Bikini Bottoms have great draping because of the shirring on the sides. The draping helps to hide tummy issues, and this is a detail that I need and look for in swimsuits. Like all clothing, swimsuits have details to enhance or detract from problem areas, so make sure to look at how they are made and if they can address your issue. I’m wearing a large in the top and bottoms, and they fit great.
While I am showing you two-piece swimsuits for women over 50 try-on, I might as well show you one more. I’m not sure how this Crisscross Twisted Two-Piece Swimsuit even got ordered, but I like it. I thought my daughter had ordered this suit, and I took it to her room. Later that day, she brought it back down to me and said I had ordered it. Since it was my size instead of hers, I guess she is correct.
This swimsuit has a modern style with the crisscross straps and high waist bottoms. The bottoms also have some ruching to help with tummy flaws, and the coverage is moderate. I’m wearing a large, and even though it doesn’t look like the model on the website, it fits my body.
Whew! Well, that’s over with! Lol! I am actually glad that you encouraged (or pestered) me to do these swimsuits for women over 50 try-on posts because I would have never done it otherwise. After reading your comments from yesterday’s post, I can see that the post helped so many of you realize that we aren’t 20 anymore, but that isn’t anything to be ashamed of. We may not have the body of our youth, but we have the experience that comes with age, and that is PRICELESS!!!
I hope you liked today’s post. If so, PLEASE remember to pin my post on Pinterest.

You are so adorable. I love your posts for the honesty in your comments. And..you look great in those bathing suits.
Big thanks for swim suit try ons. Very nicely done and older girls like me need to be encouraged. Gorgeous suits!
Another post of HITS! I’m repeating from yesterday’s post—-you look fabulous, capital F. So glad you shared.
Wow! Great variety of suits! My favorite, and it was hard to pick, was the blue Danube. Love your accessories Thanks again for doing this post and showing front and back pictures
I think you have a great figure and all the swimsuits looked nice on you. I am a firm believer in why look good when you can look great, however. I loved the one piece Catalina blue, the one piece fushia, the navy blue print one piece and the black one shoulder tankini two piece. Love the leopard caftan and the cold shoulder pink and gold cover up. Love the straw hat more than the visor. Love the straw tote. Not a fan of the plastic crocs. They are practical but don’t do anything for you and the stunning outfits you have assembled.
On a personal note, I am now 70! Yikes! But have never felt better about myself. Four or five years ago, I lost 24 or so pounds. And for the first time I in my life have kept it off. I am a size 12, top and bottom, sometimes M tees and blouses, usually L. Like you, I love clothes, accessories and have fun with clothes outfits.
I enjoy your blog. I get great ideas.
I love all of these suits. You look fabulous! The leopard print kimono is really cute. Thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone ❤️
You simply look stunning in everyone of those suits. You are a great inspiration. Thank you so much.
After looking around the pool, at 60+, I finally realized two things. First, anything goes. Secondly, nobody is worrying about you – they are too busy worrying about themselves. So wear what makes you feel comfortable and have fun! P.S. You look great!
The Danube bleu suit looked just great on you. The print and the design lines on it made you look very shapely. The coral one was a miss and the plain colored ones did not play up your shape and some bottoms were skimpy. This is just my opinion. You are in very good shape!!
Good job Tania! You’ve got some big cajones 😂
