SPRING 2022 TRENDS IN FASHION
On Monday, I briefly mentioned Spring 2022 Trends, and several people messaged me asking me to do a post on what the trends are going to be for spring 2022. Fashion trends come and go and they change every year. Some trends stick around for only a few months, but others may trend for years.
Fashion Trends tend to circle back around every so often, and that is the case right now. If you remember the 90s, then you will have a jump start on the trends for this spring. You don’t have to wear every trend, in fact, wearing head-to-toe trends is usually not a great look. Building your wardrobe with classic and essential pieces, and then supplementing them with trends, is the easiest way to look modern and stylish while not breaking the bank.
If you only remember one thing from this post, I want you to remember this; you never have to wear any style that you don’t like. Pick and choose what suits you best according to your personal style, lifestyle, body type, and budget. Unless you love a trend or think that it is one that will be around for a loooong time, then I suggest choosing trends that are less expensive. Save your money to invest in classic staples that you can wear for years.
Spring 2022 Fashion Trends: What to Look For in 2022
I’m going to start with the trend that I am thrilled about. I’ve been wearing this “trend” for a long time, so I’m happy to see that it is now considered “in.”
Bright and Bold Colors
This year we’re going to see lots of bright and bold colors. Pink is especially trending, and you’ll see it in accessories as well as in clothing. I shared a bright pink handbag on Monday that would be a great way to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe. If you are a neutral-loving gurl, don’t worry, neutrals will always be in style. They might not be “in,” but you can always wear a true classic neutral outfit.
Head to Toe Color
While I’m talking about color, you’re going to see outfits in head-to-toe colors this spring. That doesn’t mean that it has to be a bright and bold color, it could also be all white, all black, or all pastels. White on white is supposed to be huge this year, so you might want to think along those lines. Everything Bridal is trending, so white or white, lace, sweetheart necklines, etc., will all be in the stores.
I think a head-to-toe outfit is chic and sophisticated, so I’m excited about this trend also. Plus, you don’t have to worry if your outfit matches since it will be in the same color or color family.
Okay, this trend is one that I’m not happy about. I know that it works wonderfully for young women, and if you love this trend, then feel free to jump on board. I’ve worn a mini-skirt in the winter with tights, but I’m not sure I could carry off the look in spring and summer. I doubt that I’ll be wearing this trend, although I’ve learned to never say never. Lol!
I guess the trend predictors must have thought about us ladies who were not going to be happy with the mini-skirts because they also included maxi skirts as a spring trend. Maxi skirts and dresses are a look that I love, and these are already in my closet.
Clothing in different textures will be trending this spring. I mentioned lace above, but there are also going to be lots of feathers, fringe, and pleats in the stores. Lace, fringe, and pleats are textures that we’ve all seen, and probably owned, before, but I’ll be interested in seeing how they incorporate the feather trend into the mainstream.
Jeans That are Low and Long
Don’t panic, but I’m hearing that mid-rise and low-rise jeans are a coming trend for Spring 2022. I’m not sad about this coming trend since the high-waisted jeans are a little uncomfortable. The new mid-rise and low-rise jeans are supposed to be more relaxed. You’ll be seeing lots of full-length jeans in straight and bootcut styles. Since straight leg and bootcut are the easier and most flattering for most women, this might be a trend that you will love to embrace.
If longer jeans are going to be trending, then platform shoes are going to follow. I ordered most of the platform shoes below because I love the idea of wearing platform shoes with jeans, it makes your legs look long and lean.
I love statement jewelry because it makes..well, a statement. I wore a beautiful pearl statement necklace the other day (sorry, it’s sold out), and items like the necklace can take a blah outfit to WOW easily.
Crochet is usually something you see in Spring and Summer, but you’re going to see it everywhere this year. Crochet tops are hitting the stores, but handbags are going to be the way that I incorporate this trend. Leather is my handbag of choice, but I love straw, bamboo, linen, and raffia for spring and summer. I don’t guess it will be a huge leap to try a crochet handbag.
Yes, this means what you think it means. Shoulder pads are back! They have slowly been creeping into clothing, but they aren’t going away, at least it doesn’t seem like they are. Several items that I’ve looked at this year had shoulder pads, so I’m on “wait and see” for now.
Animal print is always popular, no matter what time of the year it is. Leopard has been the king of prints for several years, but zebra print might knock it out of the top spot this spring and summer. Zebra print has been coming on strong for the past year, and leopard print has been around so long that it is starting to feel old and dated. So, I ordered in a few Zebra print items, and we’ll see how I like them.
I love my Tory Burch and Michael Kors ballet flats that I’ve worn for a couple of years. It appears like ballet flats, rounded and pointy-toe will be trending this year. I’m betting that several of you are jumping for joy at this trend since flats are your shoe of choice.
I have a love/hate relationship with statement sleeves. I love them since they are unique and different, but I hate them if I want to put on a blazer or cardigan. The puffy sleeve will bunch up under the sleeve of the blazer or cardigan, and that is not a good look. These are a trend that I will add sparingly unless I figure out a way to fix the bunching issue.
These are a few trends to help you navigate the New Arrivals hitting the stores. There are a lot more Spring Trends for 2022, but these are the ones that I thought would be the most helpful.
Remember, you don’t have to wear any of these trends, but you should be aware of them. Wearing a few trends is an easy way to show others that you are aware of the current fashion trends, and you’ll look more modern and youthful.

I love the cute clutches can you do post on your favorite ones
All of these items look fabulous on you!
I have to say personally, I am disappointed in just about all of these new trends. I was in high hopes that the high waisted pants would stick around for a while. The mid and low rise are such a bummer. They cut your figure. They are less flattering and a whole lot less slimming.
I am one that enjoys the shapely look of clothing that show off the curves. All of these loose-fitting tops, shoulder pads, feathers are a bit much for the look I prefer.
Put yourself in a low rise, loose blouse, then compare it to a high rise, fitted blouse and look at the difference. You will be impressed by how much slimmer you look. I am 65 and need all the “help” I can get to look put together; the fitted look is my preference.
Love love love that bright bold colors are in. I purchased a wonderful long cardigan with color blocks of lime green, fuschia, bright orange, light pink, turquoise and white. I paired it with a white tee, distressed ankle jeans and nude mules. I wore is while having a mini vacay in downtown Savannah and had sooo many compliments. Oh I also grabbed up a beautiful fuschia purse! Thanks for your ideas ( I definitely used you for this great outfit)!
Thanks for all the great ideas!
Thank you, Tania. I’m going shopping in my closet!
Thank you for the update. It’s fun to see what will be in this year.
Thank you for letting us know about the new trends. Some I really like and others not so much.
I’ve never stopped wearing bright colors. After too many years in NYC, I almost never wear black, and then only black pants. I love bright colors. Forget the shoulder pads–my shoulders are plenrty broad bc I work out. And the mini is not for me–I’m 74 and the thighs are not mini-happy. I also don’t like maxi skirts. Too much volume makes me look too square, and I’m always tripping on them. I also no longer wear statement necklaces, as I find them uncomfortable on my upper chest. I guess I’m just not going to be trendy! Oh well.
Pink is my favorite color!! That graphic tee with the pink jacket – oohh la la!! Love it!! I love dressing young and trendy but with class . . . and I am 67 years young!!
Where will we find the purple/red dress and coat?
LOVE today’s post!!!! So many ideas!!! Thanks! Sure wish that hot pink blazer was still in stock!
I’m agree with Lorie about shoulder pads making me look like a linebacker. I’m not a fan of puffy sleeves as they do the same thing. I love boot cut jeans and platform shoes.
Isn’t it great that we are not required to embrace all of the new trends! And it’s a big relief for this 65 yr. old. Thanks for sharing these trends with us! There are some that I really like and others that won’t find a space in my closet. Have a great day!
I like most of the trends except for the mini skirt, it would depend on how “mini”it would be. But the shoulder pads, ugh! I have wider shoulders and sholder pads make me look like a linebacker.
Enjoy your day!
I love a lot of what you have today of course you look awesome in everything! I have never felt comfortable in maxi or midi dresses because I am 5’2 and now because of feet problems bunions on both feet I can’t wear heels which I love! I can never find the shoes that look good. I will have to decline the shoulder pads. Love the zebra dress! I could go on and on😂😂
I think it would be fun to pair a bright color ballet flat with a zebra print. My wardrobe tends to be neutral, overall, but I like adding color in accessories like a bag, jewelry, or shoes.
I too am “vertically challenged” at 5’1″ and most of the trends will not work for me. I agree with the bright colors and straight leg jeans! No thank you to feathers (I am not a bird), puffy sleeves, platform shoes, or statement necklaces. I’ll have to stick with classic clothing for now. We’ll see what next year brings trendwise!
Live the bright colors also. Don’t think I’ll embrace the mini LOL. However I do have a full tiered short “sun dress” I like to wear with leggings.
Love the bright pink, it looks amazing on you! The maxi dress and small shoulder pads are trends I like as I have narrower shoulders. Thanks for another great article and love the scripture verses!
Love the bright colors, jeans, and flats especially…actually I like all you showed😊 although I may be a bit slower to re-embrace the shoulder pads!
At 5’2, I have never been able to wear maxi or even midi clothes but I am happy with color being the trend. No complaints about straight jeans either..I am glad the wide leg jeans did not stay around. You always look great but the pink jacket and statement t. outfit looks super on you.
Great post. Love all of these trends especially the bold colours which I wear often anyway and the platform shoes. Can’t wait for spring to try some of these things out!
Love the bright pink and to hear that statement necklaces are trending. This post supports the idea of not ridding yourself of anything-it will come back around.
The picture of you in the hot pink blazer is just stunning! You do not seem to age at all…just keep looking younger! Thanks for being an inspiration to us old gals!
Thanks for today’s post…you did a great job of showing the upcoming trends. Now I can dig out some platforms, maxi skirts and statement necklaces that I’ve hung onto, but no mini skirts for this gurl!
Hi. I’m 5’2” and chubby. I want to wear a maxi skirt or dress although I’m told I can’t. Any tips? Maybe you have a friend my size who could model! Lol
YAY for the bright colors and shoulder pads!!
Love your post! Always fun to learn what’s on trend. Pink is YOUR color!!!
Where did you get the beaded clutch purse with the flowers. Love it
Isn’t that clutch cute? Here is the link: https://bit.ly/3IDfhkF
I love the pink blazer with jeans and you absolutely rock that color!
I love this bright color.
Hi from the UK. Please could you do a post about maxi dresses / skirts for short people , I never get the right look! . I’m 5ft 1 inch and a uk size 12.
I can try, Susan. I hope you’re enjoying the blog.
Tania I loved all your outfits today. You are looking skinny in the pink blazer & jeans outfit.
Thanks, Holly! I’ll take that comment any day. Lol!
