50 IS NOT OLD | NATIONAL WEAR RED DAYToday, February 2nd is National Wear Red Day. Here is the dilemma for a blogger, we can’t wear the outfit and post the outfit at the same time. Lol! I have actually run into people around town and they say, “that isn’t what you wore on the blog today.” So, here is a spoiler alert for you, I am NEVER wearing what is on the blog on that day! Lol!!! I figure most of you have already figured that one out. I do want to wear red today, you might see those pictures next week sometime, but I didn’t have any “new” pictures of me in red to talk about. Instead, I decided to look back through my archives and see what red outfits that I could come up with.50 IS NOT OLD | NATIONAL WEAR RED DAYNational Wear Red day is not about the outfit, it is about the cause. Here is what I found on the goredforwomen.org website.

Why Go Red? Cardiovascular disease in the U.S. kill approximately one woman every 80 seconds. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes. Go Red For Women advocates for more research and swifter action for women’s heart health. That’s why this year we are asking that you wear red on National Wear Red Day® and Donate to Go Red For Woman. By doing so you help support educational programs to increase women’s awareness and critical research to discover scientific knowledge about cardiovascular health.50 IS NOT OLD | NATIONAL WEAR RED DAYGo Red For Women is a movement that starts with you. Lead by example and make the time to “Know Your Numbers.” It’s knowledge that could save your life. Five numbers, that all women should know to take control of their heart health are: Total Cholesterol, HDL (good) Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI). Knowing these numbers can help women and their healthcare provider determine their risk for developing cardiovascular diseases. It’s time for all women to learn the most critical numbers in their life — their hearts depend on it.50 IS NOT OLD | NATIONAL WEAR RED DAYI was shocked when I began to read the statics about women and heart disease. I had thought that Heart disease was a disease that affected mostly men. WRONG!!! Did you know that 1 in 3 women will die from heart disease and stroke! That is 1 in 3! I looked around today at work at the 4 of us ladies working there. One of us has already had open heart surgery. ?50 IS NOT OLD | NATIONAL WEAR RED DAYI know this is not my normal type post but I thought it was something worth highlighting. If you are interested in any of the outfits above I am going to link to that post so that you can go back and see where the clothing was purchased.

  2. Tania you look wonderful in all those styles and my favorite is Candy & Cupid!
All you ladies, thank you for sharing your experiences and may God bless each of you. You definitely got my attention with all you have endured and I must get serious with my health. I have not taken my cholesterol and other issues serious and you have opened my eyes today! Tania, thank you for making this your blog today! I was definitely shocked in the statistics of 1 in 3…. that’s frightening.. but thank goodness we can make lifestyle changes to “be our best”.
    Thanks Carla

  3. Thanks for sharing this. I would never have thought of having issues considering your profile. We must be vigilant.

    Tania,
Wow & Thank You. I am a new subscriber at age 53 . Long story short version… I am just now becoming the Woman I want my Daughters to be! Sadly I had “let myself go” in all regards – dignity, fashion and health during an emotionally toxic relationship of twenty years. You have inspired me in more ways than you’ll ever know ! Todays “Wear Red for Women” comment section , may literally save my life thanks to “Susan”. I never knew that having a pre-existing heart murmur could pose a life threatening condition . I am finding so much strength and guidance here . Words can not express the depth of my appreciation . Sincere Thanks for all you do,
    LynnDurham

My dad was 39 when he had his first heart attack and my brother was 56 when he had his first of seven heart attacks. Yes, seven! Obviously the Lord is not finished with him yet. Anyway, my dad and brother both had the “normal” symptoms of a heart attack. However, my mother was 82 and felt very nauseous and had a terrible pain in her back. She suddenly started throwing up and couldn’t stop so my sister took her to the emergency room. She was having a heart attack and coded right there in the ER. They revived her and flew her via Lifestar helicopter to a larger hospital and she once again coded in the helicopter. Thankfully she stabilized and after a pacemaker was put in she is doing fine. However, the one thing all three of my family members had in common was Diabetes. Yes, that was a contributing factor. I never knew that diabetes was so serious and can affect every single organ in your body. Pretty scary.
Thanks for bringing attention to this issue. Heart disease is so rampant and the symptoms can vary greatly from person to person. I guess we just need to be aware of what our bodies are telling us and seek treatment if you don’t feel right.

  6. Here’s my story. I have hormone issues, including palpitations and SVT. I’m on meds, including one that will lower my BP and keep my anxiety at bay. I feel GREAT! I see my doctor every 6 months and have a physical every year with blood work. I’m all about prevention! The key for me is to leave my health in God’s hands so that I won’t become anxious. Leading a peaceful life is most important. Tania, you look great in red! I especially love the dress.
    Blessings,
    Sherry

Tania, I wish you were my fashion stylist. I generally love your selection for the day and would love a peek into your closet! Do you actually shop shop shop constantly? Love the variety. If you ever are having a closet clearance sale let me know. I’ll send my sister over to shop for me. She lives near Roanoke.

#2 & #5 are my favorites. Casual but refined. They both look great on you.?

  9. You always look great but #5 is my pic…this week I went and had my nuclear stress test done which I have been having done every 2 years….so far everything has been normal (thank you God) reason I have it done so often is I was adopted and don’t really know much of family history except my biological mother died at 43 and most women on her side never made it passed 65! Weee I will be 66 in April and have ATLEAST another 30 to go!! Lol

I have a very close friend that is and has been battling serious heart issues for the past 4 years. She is one of the most positive and strongest people I know. Through it all, she is selfless and concerned for others. I would love to be able to gift her with this bracelet. She is an inspiration to me and many who know her. Her eyes are always on God.
Here are just a few of many of her FB posts:
“Seems most days something about my #heartjourney pops up. Ironically I had a cardiologist appointment this morning. Overall checkup post latest hospital stint was okay. Love my doctors. They just tell me the real deal. “Girl, you’ve got a seriously aggressive coronary artery disease.” I cried as usual. Doc hugs me as usual. Even if your docs aren’t supposed to, I think we have a personal bond. I think he (actually “he” is “they”, there are 2 and they are the bomb.com) knows I really love him and I think he really loves me. He wants me to be well and does his best. It’s hard hearing the word “disease.” I know many of you can personally relate. I got some new and old meds added to my repertoire. Starting an injectable medication that we hope will bring positive results. As I posted four years ago, I am overwhelmed every day by the love and support I receive. I’ve always thought of myself as a giver. It came easy to me. However, I never knew receiving would be so difficult. I’ve been told to just simply say thank you. Thank you dear ones. Much love, light, prayers and peace to all.”

“As usual I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, well wishes, prayers, offers of help, food for thought and the many kind & encouraging words I have received. I’m at a bit of a loss for words. A simple thank you seems inadequate. Still I want to say thank you, a very heartfelt one to all of you! Tomorrow morning I will undergo another heart cath to insert new stents. Another open heart surgery is too difficult at this time. We have consulted with numerous doctors and are confident with their decision. God is great! I remain stedfast and calm. I have turned it over to Him! Again, thank you. Goodnight my friends. Love to all. xo”

“Last night I went to bed with a happy heart. This morning I woke up with a hurting heart, literally a hurting heart. My intention was to go to church, but realized I needed to stay in and take it easy. I have lived with heart issues for the last four years. I’ve survived that which often times I thought I would not. This morning I simply fell to pieces, emotionally, mentally and physically. I texted my sister, and as usual, she immediately called me. She helped talk me off “the ledge” so to speak. I then tuned into Cokesbury’s live stream service. I was instantly overwhelmed with God’s presence. I relaxed and the pressure in my chest eased. I knew He was holding my hand as I stepped down from the ledge I was on. He was with me. He is with us all. He is everywhere. Always. He is always holding our hand. He is the calm, the peace we all need. Everyone I know is hurting in some way. Before you lay your head down tonight, I ask that you say a prayer for someone, anyone who is hurting. You don’t have know them, just say a prayer for someone. God is listening. Prayers matter. Peace, love, light and prayers. Love to all. Goodnight. xo #prayersmatter #andthebeatgoeson #heartjourney ❤️”

    Thank you Tania
