MONOCHROMATIC SPRING STYLE OVER 50 WITH FLORALS
Today’s post almost didn’t happen. Do you ever have one of those days where you can’t find your motivation? I felt fine, but I found myself constantly scrolling the internet, rummaging in the pantry, or staring off into space. Basically, I was doing everything except what I needed to be doing. My daughter calls this “getting lost in the weeds.”
She will walk past me and ask me what I’m doing. When I tell her, she responds, “weeds.” She is telling me to quit procrastinating and do what I’m supposed to be doing. Joe didn’t help the matters when he brought home a new ceiling fan for our screened-in porch. He asked me to come and look at it, which was code for, “come and help me.” He calls me his hand me, give me girl. Lol! I hand him the screws and give him the parts. Haha! Even if it was “weeds,” I at least got a new ceiling fan out of the deal. I had to test out the fan, so there went another hour with me sitting on the porch and enjoying the breeze.
Yesterday, I styled a pair of bright floral pants, and most of you loved them. I know that wearing a large, bold print on your bottom half might be challenging for some, so today, I’m adding the bold print on the top half. Bold prints can camouflage problem areas since it distracts the eye. Your eye looks at the print, not a bulge under the print. This tonal Blue Floral Lightweight Sweater is beautiful, and it is on sale for a great price! The feel of the sweater is very luxurious, and it looks as good as it feels. Because the sweater has various shades of blue, I decided to keep with the monochromatic look, and I paired it with navy pants. The sweater would look great with white pants or jeans also. I’m wearing a size 1, and the fit is perfect.
You can tell that I just opened my package and decided to take photos. The tag is still hanging on the bracelets. Lol! I’m guilty of this a lot, it is like Christmas morning when I get packages in, and I can’t wait to style them. I had hoped that I would get the blue shell jewelry in before I left for Belize, but it came a few days later. The Resin Shell Earrings are clip-on. Clip-on jewelry has come a long way, and there are way more to choose from. The matching Blue Shell Necklace is beautiful, and it would make a big statement if you wore it on a white dress. The set of blue and white stretch bracelets looks great with this outfit. They will also look great for Memorial Day and the 4th of July, plus you can wear them daily with jeans, etc.
These Brigitte So Slimming High Vent Crops in Classic Navy are perfect for wearing with heels or flats. They look dressy, so you could wear them to work or on a date night, and they are so comfortable that you’ll want to wear them every day. I think the cut is very flattering, and I love how they have a tiny flare at the hem. The pants have the So Slimming panel, so they keep your silhouette trim looking. I’m wearing a .5 in these pants, and I think they fit great.
I am so ditzy sometimes, well, most of the time. While I love this handbag, it isn’t the handbag that I meant to order. Lol! This Alabastor Woven Leather Tote is beautiful, but I meant to order the Woven Leather Crossbody instead. I already have a large tote in an Alabastor/Ivory/Chalk color, but I don’t have a crossbody. If I didn’t already have a tote in this color, then I would keep this one. It is a great size, and it has separated sections inside, which is a detail I like in my handbags. Here are other handbags that you might like; I’m showing you them before they have a chance to sell out.
The Navy Espadrille Wedge shoes are a pair that I bought a couple of years ago. They are no longer available, but I have (this pair) in flax, and they are almost identical, and they fit great. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Chico’s is now carrying shoes! I am so excited to get my first pair. Here are some that I love, but I can’t decide which pair(s) to try first.
What do you think about this outfit? Do you like the tonal/monochromatic look?

That looks great! I like the colors!
I do like this outfit and am going to check out the sweater since I like for the bulges I’ve earned to be camouflaged. I’m glad that you are happy with the new ceiling fan!
On the Chico’s website, the sweater looks like it is a very loosely knitted. Do you think a camisole is needed underneath?
You don’t need a camisole, it’s not see-through at all.
To me, this is not monochromatic. Monochromatic, to me, is wearing ONE color, not shades of a color (like the top is), I actually like all of these pieces, especially the necklace, but the way you have styled it with the printed top, the two compete.
It would be interesting to see the necklace showcased against an all-navy outfit (or all-white!). Then it would really sing! Just my 2 cents.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! You are so creative and look gorg!
I really like your outfit today. It is something I would wear.
I love the tonal look especially in navy. The bold top gives the navy a bump in style! I’d totally wear this outfit!
Classic Chico’s look! So pretty!
I saw your post at 5 this morning. I clicked on the sweater link and WOW…it is on a great sale! I bought the pink/orange one. Can’t wait!
Happy Friday!
Love this outfit.
Love it and yesterday’s about printed pants. I bought my first printed pants in years and years and they are those same Brigitte So Slimming. You are right about comfort – I’m wearing them on the plane for my girl’s trip this weekend.
I love the tonal look with the blues! You look so good it that outfit! I think I’m going to order that sweater to wear with some Brigitte crops I already have. Then for my birthday, Joe bought me the yellow Coach bag. I can’t wait to start using it next week on the 12th!!
The sweater is on sale, so it is a great time to grab it.
