MIXING HIGH-END WITH AFFORDABLE CLOTHING FOR VERSATILE OUTFITS
Did you read my post yesterday about How To Get Out Of A Style Rut? In the post, I mentioned wearing high-end items with more affordable items. So, today, I thought that I would give you an example of what I’m talking about.
Can you spot the high-end items? If you spied the Brahmin Finley Carryall Handbag, then you guessed right! This gorgeous handbag was my Valentine’s gift from Joe that I bought for myself. Lol!!! Take it from me, gurls; leaving hints never works; buy it yourself! They’ll be happy and so will you.
This outfit is me trying to get out of a style rut. I’m guilty of staying in the same color family all the time, so I decided to try something different. Normally, I would never pair a Blue Striped Button-Down Shirt with a brown outfit, but I’m loving this look. This is a great example of trying new ways of wearing your clothing instead of always wearing it the very same way. I bought the button-down thinking I would wear it with jeans this fall, and I still will, but it is so versatile that it can be worn in several ways. I’m wearing a size large, and it fits me great.
I already own this same lightweight longer length cardigan in Bright Pink. It is affordable, and I love the fit and style. So, I ordered this Brown version for fall, and I’ll probably end up with several others since I like it so much. I’m wearing a large so that I can wear it over shirts and turtlenecks, but I could size down to a medium if I wanted a slimmer fit.
These Block Heel Sandals are PURRRRFECT for fall! I love this color; it is such a deep and luxurious shade of brown. I didn’t get a great photo of them, so I’ll include one from the website below so you can see them better.
They recommended sizing up, so I’m wearing a 9.5 instead of my usual size 9. FYI, the heel height is 3 1/4″, but they are pretty comfortable.
Here is another outfit using the same pants. I like showing you different ways to wear your clothing, so you get your money’s worth from them. These Loose Work Pants and comfy and feature a pull-on style; the buttons are purely decorative. Even though these pants are supposed to be loose, I think they are too big for me. I’m wearing a size large, but I think the medium would have fit me better. These pants are available in several colors; I’m wearing the 8-brown shade.
I love this V-Neck Boho Floral Top, and I think the colors will be great for fall. I plan on wearing this with a pair of jeans and ankle boots later this fall, and I might try adding a Chocolate Faux-Suede Moto Jacket, but I’ll have to see how it looks. I’m wearing a size medium in the top, and it fits me great.
I’m wearing the Sophee Drop Earrings from Kendra Scott. I’ve had these earrings for a couple of years, and they are a classic pair that I wear a lot. The multi-strand bracelet set is from Chico’s, and I love the neutral colors. You can’t see my Michele Watch in this photo, but I wear it constantly. I think it looks great with jeans or a fancy dress.
This straw crossbody isn’t available at the moment, so I found some similar ones and put them below. Just click on the photo of the similar one(s) you like, and it will take you to the website.
The shoes that I’m wearing with this outfit are soooo comfy and are great for anyone with Plantar Fascitis. They are by Aetrex, and the insole is comfortable beyond belief. This style is the Lexa Leather Wedge, and they run true to size. These shoes aren’t cheap, but if you have foot issues, you might want to give them a try. If you’ve ever worn this brand before, be sure to leave a comment on your experience. I’m wearing my usual size 9, and they fit true to size.
Which outfit do you like the best? Can you see yourself wearing either of these?

I think the first outfit is very pulled together, with the duster cardigan as a completer piece. I love the way long sleeve button down shirts look on others, but I struggle getting to look as good on me (especially if the blouse sleeves get bunched up in the sweater sleeves).
I have 3 pairs of Aetrex sandals/shoes and love them. I also love Earth shoes. As a teacher, they are so comfortable standing on cement floors all day.
Karyn, I had teachers in mind when I was talking about these shoes. They look professional, but they are comfortable too.
I am going to look into the pants, so I would wear them. For my style aesthetic I would change out the top and would probably wear a pair of my clogs or my retro sneakers.
Ginger that is a great way to take pieces from my outfits and make it your own.
I like both looks today but I am curious which color of the v-neck boho floral blouse you purchased? The colors look a bit different on Amazon site.
Gabrielle, I meant to post the color, it is z-khaki.
I think the brown and blue combo is very attractive! I have several pairs of Aetrex shoes/boots and really like them. Quality leather, zippers (on the boots), very comfortable. I wear a 5.5M, and think they fit true to size. The tall boots have narrow calves, which I need, fwiw.
Mary, I was looking at the boots last night. I want to get a pair for fall, so thanks for the heads up on the sizing.
Definitely the second outfit. The first one looked a little Frumpy.
I liked the second outfit the best too. I like the second outfit, because the pants are a little big on me, it throws the outfit off.
