ADD A THIRD PIECE TO ELEVATE YOUR LOOK
I know many of you are retired, and you may not think you need to have a blazer in your wardrobe. When 2020 hit, most of us started dressing casually, and loungewear became our preferred way to dress. Today, I am showing you a couple of outfits from Kohl’s, and you will see how adding a third piece, such as a blazer or cardigan, can elevate your look. Right now, Kohl’s is offering 20% off with the code GOSHOP20 and free shipping on orders over $35!
This is an everyday outfit consisting of a top and a pair of pants. The outfit is nice, looks good, and can be worn to lunch or out running errands. This outfit is an excellent start to what can be an elevated outfit.
I started today’s look with a V-Neck Floral Tank in shades of olive. The colors in this floral tank will be great for summer and fall, and I love the combination of olive and pink. A v-neck is my favorite neckline because it elongates your neck and helps to create a long and lean look. I’m wearing a medium, and the fit is perfect.
You can see the length of the tank here. It hits me at hip level, and the arm holes are not too large.
I wanted to highlight the olive in the tank to make this a fall transition outfit, so I added this pair of High Waisted Boyfriend Jeans in Dusty Olive. Olive has turned into one of my favorite colors, and I love wearing it in fall. These are boyfriend jeans, so they have a relaxed, loose fit. I’m wearing a size 8, which is a little loose on me, but you can size down if you want a tighter fit.
The outfit looks good on its own but adding a third, completer piece elevates the look. The outfit now looks polished and complete by adding one extra piece of clothing. I love wearing blazers and cardigans, and this double-breasted blazer was such a unique color I had to try it. Unfortunately, this blazer has sold out, but here are other options that would give you a similar look.
You can be comfortable and still achieve an elevated look with these Leather Wedge Sandals. The cushioned foam footbed is so comfy, and the jute espadrille wedge heel is stylish. These shoes run true to size; I’m wearing my usual size 9, and the fit is excellent.
Let’s move on to another outfit. This casual outfit is completely transformed by the addition of a third piece.
This neutral outfit screams casual comfort! I love everything about this outfit, from the shoes and bag to the tank and joggers.
The High-Neck Cutaway Tank has a flattering style that shows off your shoulders. This chunky knit sweater tank will become a workhorse of any wardrobe since it looks great alone or as a layering piece. I’m wearing a medium in Lemon Frost, and I love the color. I was afraid the color would be yellow, but instead, it is a perfect neutral that can be worn all year long.
These High Waist Pull-On Joggers are so cute and comfy, but they are stylish also. I love that they can be dressed up or down depending on how you want to wear them. They have many pockets, and the pull-on waistband has a drawstring that gives the pants a laid back relaxed look. I’m wearing the Khaki color in a medium which fits me great.
My daughter-in-law went wild over these Wedge Leather Sandals while taking my photos. I love the unique style of the sandals and how they have the modern square toe. They don’t have the comfort level of the Espadrille Sandals above, but the style factor is through the roof. I’m wearing my usual size 9, and they fit true to size.
When I added the blazer to the outfit, I also changed out my shoes. I’ve worn these Open Toe Wedge Sandals all summer long, and I love how they look and feel. The Natural color goes with everything, and I’ve worn these with jeans, shorts, and dresses. They run true to size, and I’m wearing my usual size 9.
I carried this Draper James Straw Tote with both outfits, which works great with casual and dressier styles. The natural color looks great for summer, but I’m also eyeing the navy version. I love the deep rich navy color, and it is one I could carry later into the fall.

I ordered both of these outfits and they fit great! I picked a blazer that isn’t quite right, which I will return but both fun outfits! Can’t wait to wear them. Thanks for the ideas. I so don’t know how to find things. Enjoy your weekend!
Tania, thanks for this post. I’ve been trying to find a navy pair of joggers so thank you for pointing me to Kohl’s. I bought the Walmart sweater tank you modeled the other day, in the green and in tan. Thank you for that also. I wish our Walmart offered these in store, but online ordering has been great. I love reading your posts every day and hearing about your family.
I took a trip to Kohl’s today! Thanks for the inspiration. I think my husband may not be happy that I found your blog. LOL Your style is right up my alley.
Nancy, I have a lot of women who tell me that their husband is going to block me. Lol! But, remind them how nice you look, and I’m sure they will come around.
I love the 1st outfit. The colors are so vibrant and coordinate so well together. Disappointed about the blazer being unavailable. I might try the 1st floral top with the 2nd pants but in navy. You have such great taste and I’m always impressed with your creativity in outfits.
Janet, I was disappointed too. I love a double-breasted blazer, and it dresses up an outfit immediately.
Great post and lovely fashion reminder on how to elevate (can help us from getting in a fashion rut). BTW love both outfits and you fabulous and so well put together.
Thanks, Robin! I’m so glad that you enjoyed the post.
Lots of the time the items you are modeling are not available. I get the daily emails too. This disappointing.
Ruth, I try my best to style clothing that is in stock, but I can’t control inventory from retailers. I always try to link to similar items when that happens.
These outfits are so practical and stylish for my retirement lifestyle. Love the sweaters, and the blazers for a little more “dressed up” look for outings and church.
I think it is practical even though I’m retired.
Love the post today! I’m a Kohl’s gurl for sure! Great deals, good clothing and home accessories! I really like the 2nd out the best although both are winners. Not a blazer fan but would add a cardigan! Did you need to wear a cami under the tank sweater tank?
A denim jacket would rock the outfit also! And I just bought one recently from Kohl’s! 🌻
Love when you show how to change/elevate an outfit. Could you please do a post on how to half tuck a blouse. When I try, it looks sloppy.
Hi Tania. I simply love the cutaway tank and ordered it right away. I also ordered a blue tie belt skirt to wear it with. You always save me a lot of shopping time. Thank you.
I thought that tank was super cute. I bought it in brown also. 🤣
