Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend and that you found time to relax and enjoy yourself. Joe and I were out of town for a few days, so I am all refreshed and raring to go. The weekend was beautiful and sunny, and the sunshine always makes me feel alive.
There have been times when I would walk out on my patio on a sunny day and just lie down on the bricks to absorb the heat. I can feel the sun beating down on me and the vitamin D finding its way into my system. As uncomfortable as it is to lie on bricks, it still manages to make me feel better. UNTIL… it comes time to get back up. Do you know how hard it is to go from a prone position to sitting on rock-hard bricks? Lol! I am sure that it would be a funny sight watching me struggle to get up.
Even though the sun was out, the weather was still chilly, so a long-sleeved top was perfect. This beautiful watercolor floral top by Caslon makes me smile. I was immediately impressed with the top the minute that I took it out of the bag. The beautiful print might have been the first thing that I noticed, but the soft and silky material was the next.
You will hear me talk a lot about the feel of what I am wearing. I want things that are next to my skin to be soft, silky, and cozy. If I go into a store, I will walk down the racks feeling on the clothing. I don’t care how pretty something is; if it isn’t soft against my skin, then it stays in the store. The top runs a tad large, so I ordered a medium, and I think it is the perfect size for me.
The light blue magnesite huggie earrings are so cute with their little dangles. These earrings also come in Papaya Mother of pearl if you would rather have that color instead of the light blue. I added the matching charm necklace, which fits perfectly in the v-neck of the top. Finally, I added the Natalie filigree hinged bangle bracelet and the Rebecca stretch bracelet in white Howlite and Varigated Turquoise.
I still love skinny jeans, so I am not giving those up just yet. Life is usually give and take and finding a good balance. So, I am adding a few straight-leg loose-fit jeans to my wardrobe, but I am not throwing out my skinny jeans anytime soon.
This pair is by Joe’s Jeans, a brand that I have come to love. I do like the name of the jeans, but that is why I like them. Jeans that fit well are not easy to find, so when you find a few brands that do, you need to keep buying them repeatedly. This is the Icon Mid-RIse jean, and I am wearing a size 31 instead of my usual 30. I have found that I need to size up in this brand to get the fit I want. Since I had been wearing loose-fit jeans that last few times, these skinny jeans felt really tight on my legs. After I had worn them for about an hour, they felt normal.
My dome satchel in ivory is a great size, and I love the lighter color for spring. This leather satchel is one that I just bought, but this color has already sold out. If you would like a lighter handbag for summer too, then here are a few that you might like.
I’ve done a half-tuck with the top in this photo, and I love the look since it allows you to see my brown leather belt. I usually don’t like bringing attention to my waist, but since the top is flowy and not fully tucked in, I like the effect.
I am really trying to get used to mules, but I am struggling. My sister-in-law says that she loves mules because of the ease of wearing them. I can see how they would be much easier to put on and take off, but I have a big foot, and I feel like they look like boats on me. Lol!
This pair by Steve Madden is one that I’ve had for a while, and they must be sold out since I couldn’t find this exact pair. But, I did find several that were similar and will give you the same look.

Skinny jeans won’t be leaving my closet any time soon. I still prefer them over boot cut and I definitely can’t get into the wide leg look going around right now. Oh well, I know that if the skinny jeans go out if style, they’ll eventually come back!
I have always felt that my legs are too big for skinny jeans, which is why I have always gravitated to loose fitting jeans. I love the top and this outfit looks great on you.
Beautiful outfit, so feminine and pretty! I don’t walk well in mules, they are cute but not for me, I love cute flats!!! Glad you and Joe had a good weekend!!!
I love my skinny jeans, too! The blouse is super cute…I feel the same about flat mules!
;I agree with you; those mules look more like bedroom shoes. Way off.
Just wanted to say that I REALLY enjoy your blog and I love your fashion style and styling information. I’m a school teacher but I have the staff fooled about my age. 😊
I’m 63, 5’ 2”, 132lbs and wear 6 or 8 depending on the style of jeans. I have applied your styling tips many times.
My only problem is that I can’t wear the cute shoes that you model. I have plantar fasciitis and have to wear shoes with good support. Could you please find some cute shoes that also have support? Thanks! Betsy G.
Try Vionic since they have cute flats with arch supports. Fit Flop brand is also good for plantar fasciitis (which I also have). I have a pair of Vionic flats in silver and another in leopard and I “luv em!”
I love this outfit. It’s so light and feminine and looks great on you. I ordered the blouse and purse!
Skinny jeans are the best!😊
The top is really springy and pretty!🌸
Great look!
I used to wear mules, but a bunion makes it Impossible now. Over the years I’ve incorporated satchels in rotation of purses. I think they can dress up an outfit.
Wow! I still love skinny jeans too,…thanks for giving me permission to keep them!
I can no longer wear mules. I walk right out of them. They look lovely on others, however. Love the blue and white print of the shirt. Also, your Sunday blog was so true. I think we have all felt like that, but “He is risen” is the wonderful three words we love to hear.
I love your look! The top is so fresh and springy.
Love that top! Looks like Spring. 🙂
Love this look on you! Fabulous and fresh! Perfect for Spring!
Love this outfit! I think you look younger in it! 🙂
Love the outfit…so full of Spring! 🌸
Glad to hear you say you still love your skinny jeans! They look great on you! Be fashionable, but true to what you love and feel comfortable in. That’s you! Love the blouse and the earrings and necklace. You look rested after your well deserved getaway!
I like the look and ease of mules but I have skinny feet at the instep arch and they are wide at the ball of the foot. Every pair I have bought has been too wide at the top of the shoe and impossible to walk in – with every step I have to be really careful not to kick them off into my path in front of me. Funny that a shoe like a flip flop with a thong doesn’t do that. I had the idea to buy some stretchy sport tape to wrap the foot first.
I’ve given up on buying them. I’ll keep on working on the ones I have.
I do love that shirt though. Our weather has been so weird that I’m back in sleeves after three days in the high 80s we are now cloudy and have furnace on. Of course if I buy more long sleeve tops it will be hot again LOL.
I like the outfit as well. I wish my legs liked skinny jeans and that my waist liked mid-rise jeans. 😫 You look great as always!
This is a beautiful outfit!! I too think mules make my feet look bigger than they are, so those would be a no for me. I love the look on others though.
I am glad you and Joe got to recharge.
I am glad that it isn’t just me that think they make my feet look big. Lol!
Today’s outfit is such an way spring look. Still live skinny jeans! I need a shoe with a little more to them these days so I’m not getting into mules although I think they are very cute.
An “easy”
I’m not sold on the mules yet either, but I see a lot that are.
Such a cute outfit and looks amazing on you. I have never tried Joe Jeans. I need to look into these. Thanks.
Joe Jeans are super comfy and they fit great!
Another great outfit!
Thanks, Elizabeth!
I like the proportion of the flowy blue blouse with the skinny jeans. I’m still wearing my skinny jeans too. I’m going to order the blouse!
You will love the blouse, Laura!
I would love to see a tutorial on the half tuck shirt. Every time I do it, it doesn’t look right. Can it be done with any shirt or just with flowy shirts?
I will try to do that Kim!
Lol about trying to get up off the bricks!!! Love your blog, the fashion, your sense of humor and the Joe stories. Have a wonderful day.😀
It is probably hilarious watching me struggle to get up.
Really cute outfit! I love Joe jeans❤️They were the first pair of premium jeans I bought about 15 years ago and anytime I see them, I grab…the fit is so good, they run true to size for me. Have a great week! We are in the 80s in Dallas this week..yay!
I really love this brand of jeans too!
Skinny jeans after a feast yesterday is probably not a good option for today!! lol Beautiful top. Enjoy every bit of that sunlight!!
Sheryl, that made me laugh. Lol!
Fell in love with this beautiful top, and ordered it through your link. You always find the most gorgeous clothes, and I love the way you put outfits together! I’ve followed you for a while, and you inspire me to look my best every day. I also have those earrings, and the lovely blue color brings me joy. Thank you so much for all the time you put into this daily blog! 💖
Denise, I think that you will love the top. I just recently got the earrings, and I think they are so cute and fun.
Beautiful color top and….I don’t do the skinny jeans since I have a pear shaped body, they don’t do my any favors on my bottom half.
Sandy, you are right, skinny jeans aren’t the best option for a pear shaped body.
You look so pretty in this outfit and so put together. Glad you were able to get away for a few days. Thank you for all the time you spend on the blog helping us.
It was the first time in over a year that I have not spent the night in my house.
I still love skinnies too! They look so put together with the right top – just like you did here. 🙂
Awww, thanks, Stacey. I loved today’s blouse.
I agree about clothes being soft next to your skin. Like you I feel the clothes before I even think about trying them on.
Love the top. The whole outfit is so lovely.
Never tried mules.
Love the idea of lying on the warm bricks.
The warm bricks feel so good, except for the part where they are rock hard.
This outfit is cute and casual 😍 I love it 💖 You look beautiful!
Thank,s Tracey!
Beautiful detail on the blouse. I remain a skinny jean devotee but have picked up a couple girlfriend jeans as an option. Trying to be open-minded. I am not a slides fan. Several years ago we were at the start of a UK vaca. My slide slid off as we were exiting a train and I sprained my ankle. The rest of the trip was by cab or staying on the hop on/hop off bus. I’ve sworn them off ever since. I wear a 6.5 and feel as you do, they add length in my mind’s eye. I have friends that love them. Gratefully, in fashion we can follow the trends that suit us best.
I am trying to be open-minded too, especially when it comes to fashion. Kathy, I can see why you swore off of them. I know a lot of people really love them.
