How To Wear Traditional Red For Valentine’s Day
Here we are on day three of my Valentine’s Day looks. I think most people consider red the official color of Valentine’s Day. It is the color of hearts, and many of you might receive a vase of red roses from your sweetie. My darling husband usually buys me chocolate-covered strawberries, which are also red. Today, we will be talking about clothing and how to wear traditional red for Valentine’s Day.
- Day 1: How To Rock The Casual Valentine’s Look
- Day 2: How To Wear Hearts For Valentine’s Without Looking Childish
I wanted to show you how we can use regular clothing that we would typically wear but give it a slight Valentine’s Day vibe. None of the clothing has hearts, love, or lips on them, but they are still festive looking for Valentine’s Day.
How To Wear Traditional Red For Valentine’s Day – Plaid Blazer
I LOVE the colors of this Plaid Longline Blazer!!! The blazer is perfect for Valentine’s Day but could be worn at any time of the year. I wore this blazer before but with a black turtleneck. Today, I thought I would add a pink tank under it to bring out the pink stripe. If pink and red isn’t your cup of tea, the blazer is available in several patterns and colors.
Here is a view showing the length of the blazer. I purchased a large blazer the first time, which was slightly too big. The medium fits me perfectly.
The pink sweater tank is an old one from Talbots. It is the charming shell, but this color is no longer available. The tank is in stock in a couple of other colors. The red Kyocera Opal heart earrings are a pair I’ve had for a couple of years. They are from Kendra Scott and are no longer available. I linked to this year instead.
How To Wear Traditional Red For Valentine’s Day – Cashmere & Jeans
This is a classic outfit you could wear to lunch, date night, or anytime you want to look polished and put together.
As I mentioned on Monday, every woman needs a black blazer in their closet. (read this post for the other essentials you need) You can wear a black blazer with pants, dresses, shorts, skirts, and jeans. In other words, it is incredibly versatile.
Over the years, I’ve been adding cashmere to my wardrobe. I love the softness of cashmere and feel like a Queen when I wear it. No one needs to know that I usually buy it during a sale. Now is the time of year when you can find great sales on Cashmere, but this one is not on sale at the moment.
I added the Ashton Gold Pearl Heart Statement Earrings that were c/o Kendra Scott. These swoon-worthy earrings can be worn more than just for Valentine’s Day. I LOVE these earrings, but they are more expensive than the other earrings I’ll link to. There is a smaller version that is a little less expensive, and they are available in white, red, or pink.
How To Wear Traditional Red For Valentine’s Day – Edgy, Faux Leather
The previous two outfits are classic looking. I like mixing things up and not styling everything the same way. So, I threw together this edgy outfit to see what you think about it.
This Pebbled Faux Leather Cropped Jacket is edgy but in a classy way. It looks chic and stylish and puts a new spin on the traditional moto jacket.
This one looks feminine and has a chain detail on the pockets. You can see the grain of the jacket in this photo. If you didn’t know better, you would swear this is genuine leather.
I paired the faux leather jacket with a traditional red turtleneck sweater. The sweater is ribbed, and I will always size up when I read that in the description. I’m wearing a large, which fits nicely without being too clingy and tight.
Talk about adorable!!! These small bow and faux pearl heart earrings are the cutest! They are lightweight, so they don’t tug on your ear. The bow is metal and will keep its shape, and the faux pearl heart dangles to create movement. The necklace is from Kendra Scott and is one I’ve had for a few years. You can see all of their heart jewelry here. I love giving heart earrings or necklaces to my granddaughters; it is a gift they can keep for years.
Anytime I’m going somewhere and need a nice-looking pair of jeans, these SPANX Flare Jeans are one of the pairs I will reach for. They are a darker wash and are dressier than light-wash jeans. They have the perfect amount of stretch to them, and the size large fits me perfectly.
How To Wear Traditional Red For Valentine’s Day – Fun & Casual
This is more casual looking than the other three outfits. It is also fun-loving and different. I don’t like looking like everyone else as I walk down the street. I like adding some personality to my outfits, even if it is through accessories.
I would be shocked if you ran into someone wearing this same Colorblock Button Up Shirt. If you do, be sure to ask them if they also follow me. 😉 The back of this shirt is solid red, so it is only the front that is color-blocked. If you can’t decide if you want to wear pink or red, this shirt will make the decision easy.
I think this handbag is too adorable. This saying is perfect for me since the first thing I ask when we are going on vacation is, “Do they have wifi?” Lol!
When I saw the back of the handbag, I knew it was meant for me. Joe has been calling me “queen” ever since we watched The Crown. Lol!
I am NOT wearing my husband’s jeans, but these are a pair of Joe’s Jeans. Lol! I love the way these jeans fit, and my photographer mentioned that they made my booty look good. Don’t worry, my photographer isn’t male. I read that these jeans ran small, so I ordered two sizes to be sure I got the right size. The size 30 fit better than my usual 29, so I suggest sizing up one size.
So…what did you think about my how to wear traditional red for Valentine’s Day outfits? Which was your favorite?

Beautiful lady, beautiful lips, beautiful lashes, beautiful shaped body.
Beautiful clothes.
God Bless you Tania and all you do each and every day.
I love this festive series for Valentines Day! My favorite color is pink! You can never go wrong with a pink and black outfit! Love the pink top with the multicolored jacket! And love the black love purse. Pink makes me happy so I’ll be wearing lots in the days to come! 💕💕💕
I love red. You look amazing. I love the long blazer and the leather jacket. You’re so beautiful in red. I will plan on getting the long blazer. That’s my favorite look
I’m ordering the black blazer!
LOVE everything! I think I need that plaid blazer. 🙂
Love the first blazer and the button down shirt ❤️🩷
Love the blazer, and purse. You look so pretty in red.
Love the jacket and the dual colour shirt.
These outfits are perfect for February, and I think each one is fab! ❤️🩷
I love red too!
Love these outfits! The blazer is a showstopper!
I like all your outfits and especially your wide leg jeans. Would these jeans work with a chunky bootie or chunky shoe like a loafer? Do you have to wear a pointy toe to make this type of jean look good?
They would look fine with booties or chunky loafers. It would depend upon the length, and if you need a higher heel to keep them from dragging on the ground,
Super cute outfits; you look great in the red (and pink). I love the flare jeans, but a little high for my comfort. LOVE the colorblock shirt!
Love the earrings with the red bows – I heard bows are a trending item right now
I love the faux leather cropped jacket. It looks great on you!
Love that plaid blazer!
The first red sweater, then the color block sweater looks great!
chocolate covered strawberries! What a sweet husband you have.
Beautiful reds and pinks today – love it!
I don’t wear a lot of red but I think it’s time to change that! Cute outfits!
I like the solid red the best. Red is a good color pick because I can wear red at Christmas and again for Valentine’s. I’m always on the lookout for a stylish red sweater. And cashmere is always nice.
I like these red outfits! Working in a school district that doesn’t celebrate valentine’s day, these options let me dress for the day without being obvious. I love dressing for holidays!
I love your sophisticated yet casual take on looks for February and Valentines Day! One of my favorite pieces to wear this time of year is the pink plaid quilted winter vest that you shared a year or two ago! It was from Belk. I am a sucker for plaid vs hearts!
Tania,
I just found your site a little over two weeks ago, I was scrolling for “outfits” to buy. I am so excited that I found you! I love that you list the site for the clothes so I can go directly there, also the “expensive” look vs. the “not so expensive” look just thrills me. And, your true reaction to the outfit and accessories. I love to see the cost and a quick review of the product. As a woman over 50, I find it so hard to look for cute, put together outfits that can go from work (I am a teacher) to later in the evening, along with being functional and comfortable. I appreciate your work sorting through all the styles and getting this out to us over 50 gals, so we don’t have to waste our time scrolling for hours. By the way, you look adorable and super put together! I haven’t seen one outfit that doesn’t look good on you. Keep up the good work!
Wow! Thanks, Laurie! You sure know how to make a GURLS day!
Great scripture verse! The blazer is so pretty for those that enjoy wearing them. Sine I’m not one of them, I really like the edgy look. That handbag is calling my name, but I have a feeling it’s pretty small, which wouldn’t work for me too often. Way to go Joe!
Love it all – especially the red and pink top and the heart earrings, all of them!
I love all the valentine outfits. You look fabulous!
Thanks for all the info.
Love the statement earrings! The pink and red outfits go togeather very well. Like your hair behind your ears, compliments your face.
LOVE ALL OF THESE OUTFITS!!! Most all have things already in our closets!! But, that little handbag—- I TOTALLY LOVE ❤️
I Love the pink&red blouse and purse! You look great in all the outfits! Have you lost more weight? You look fabulous! 💕
Dawn, I’ve not lost more weight that I know of. I haven’t been weighing myself, that is hardly ever a fun activity. Lol!
I love wearing red all year long!
Those handbags are to die for!. You look marvelous in that red turtleneck sweater.
All the looks are great. You really look good in red.
Nice tops for Feb 2 which is national wear red day.
Love the color block shirt!!
They’re all great outfits. Love them!
Love the color block shirt. I may have to add it to my shopping cart.
First time commenting… that plaid blazer!! 😍 Love the pop of combining pink & red! Being on my way to 60 next month, I really enjoy your fashion insights, and seeing pieces as complete outfits is so helpful! 🙂
Welcome, Susan! I hope you enjoy the blog, and hang around for a long time.
I love Red all year round!
I really like these colors together.
I love the cashmere with leather jacket. I need to find a slightly more affordable option, but the look is amazing. The blazer would look great with a black leather A-line dress as well, which might be the look I decide to rock for V-day. Thank you for the ideas!
What does your husband think of jeans named after him? And they’re not cheap jeans either. 😊All the looks are cute.
Lol! I’ll have to ask him what he thinks.
you look amazing in the red sweater and black leather jacket outfit. Great outfits. Loving all the heart earrings. Pandora has these silver heart hoops that are really pretty. May ask for them for valentines Day.
Love the Blazer!!!
Red is your color! My favorite is the red cashmere sweater. Thanks for so many cute ideas.
Love the red cashmere sweater!
Since red is not my color, I am glad to see so many different ways to incorporate red in my outfits!
I love the look with the faux leather jacket. It is the most like my style. I love both red sweaters, however they are both sold out in my size!🙁
cute reds
I love the cropped leather jacket! Classic!
You are literally the cutest in everything!! I love that colorblock blouse. I told my husband I want all your clothes you post – he said go for it! LOL
All of the outfits are so cute with your red shoes!
I love your combinations. And I love that most of what you show us covers the belly.
I have the Spanx flare jeans! Seeing them on you reminds me of why I love them—your legs look so long!

These are so cool!!
All great options & love the Spanx jeans on you!
You are slowly winning me over on the spanx jeans. I’m ALMOST there!!! HAHAHA
One question and one request:
question: are you a paid link for all of the kendra scott jewelry or do you personally purchase that much?(I’m gauging my level of your interest in your answer!)
request: can you ask the platform people to send us a notification when you respond to one of our comments?
Krista, the jeans will eventually win. Lol! No, I’m not paid by Kendra Scott. If I’m paid, you will always see something on my blog that alerts you to that. They do send me jewelry occasionally. As far as a response, I think there is a box you click when you leave a comment that says you want to be alerted when there is a response.
Gorgeous outfits as usual. Love the red and pink color block button up. It’s very different and I enjoy wearing different items then everyone else!
Cute ideas!
Love the pink shell with the red plaid blazer! It was great to see the combination of red and pink paired together.
I’m usually not a fan of pink and red together but I love that color block blouse! Thanks for all the great looks!
Good ideas!
Love the red cashmere sweater, don’t love the color block shirt. It is a little too much for me. Truth is, I don’t usually wear anything that draws attention to me. And, yes. the purse is adorable.
Love the red cashmere sweater! ❤️ My favorite color is red!!
Darling Valentine outfits. The edgy one is my favorite – that jacket is beautiful!!! All the looks are so stylish and make me want to wear red! Thank you!
I love everything in today’s post, a way to celebrate Valentine’s Day without bold hearts! And, I love your new hairdo with bangs. You rock, gurl!
Fun outfits!!
Cutest WiFi purse!
I love red!
RED is my absolute best color in winter. I leave out my red sweaters that are not Christmas, to wear all through the winter, especially around Valentine’s. Great looks. Stay warm, it is very cold, for the SOUTH!!
You look great in red and pink. Great options!
