How To Rock The Casual Valentine’s Day Look

I am a romantic at heart. I love all things girly, and I love LOVE! Valentine’s Day is one holiday that makes me happy, and I love all the adorable clothing that is in the stores. I’ll be focusing on Valentine’s Day for several days, but don’t worry, it is not going to be all about wearing hearts. Let’s start this series off with how to rock the casual Valentine’s Day look.

How To Rock The Casual Valentine’s Day Look – Sequin Tee

Over 50 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens is showing how to rock the casual Valentine's Day look 24
Long Blazer (Medium) | Sequined Lips T-Shirt (Large) | Mid Rise Dark Wash Jeans (Medium) | Red Suede Pumps – Similar | Valentine’s Day Earrings

Jeans and a T-shirt create the perfect casual outfit. This combination works for all occasions, not just Valentine’s Day. Since Valentine’s Day is in February, the odds are you would also need to add a cardigan or blazer to your look.

I added a black Long Blazer to my outfit, which elevated the look but kept it casual. Every woman needs a black blazer in their closet. (read this post for the other essentials you need) You can wear a black blazer with pants, dresses, shorts, skirts, and jeans. In other words, it is extremely versatile.

I love adding festive accessories to my outfits. You don’t have to dress all in hearts (more on that in the next few days) to still have a Valentine’s Day themed look. Look how adorable this pair of long dangly LOVE earrings are! These work for Valentine’s Day, but you can wear them any time you want to show your love of life.

The Sequined Lips T-Shirt is waaay too cute! You can wear this all year long, but I think it looks great for Valentine’s Day. I always order a large in T-shirts because I’m afraid they will shrink. But the shirt is too big for me, and I needed a medium instead.

How To Rock The Casual Valentine’s Day Look – Graphic Heart Tee

I bet hearts are the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Valentine’s Day clothing. Have you heard of wearing your heart on your sleeve? Well, this casual Valentine’s Day look is all about wearing my heart on my chest.

I love this pale pink tee. The color is so soft and feminine, and I love the scattered hearts that converge to create a large heart. It is like all your friends and family coming together that make your heart complete. This is the thickest tee of the ones I ordered and seems to be the best quality. It is also a little big on me…maybe I need to start ordering a medium instead of a large. 🤔

Talk about adorable!!! These small bow and faux pearl heart earrings are the cutest! They are lightweight, so they don’t tug on your ear. The bow is metal and will keep its shape, and the faux pearl heart dangles to create movement.

How To Rock The Casual Valentine’s Day Look – LOVE Tee

My legs look so long and lean in this photo! This is why I love wearing pointy toe neutral shoes with my jeans. I know that the rounded toe is more trendy, but they don’t create the same effect that pointy toe shoes do. Sometimes I pay no attention to the trends, and instead wear what I think looks best on me.

How do you LOVE this tee? Lol! I think the different prints that create the word love are fabulous. Notice the leopard print? I could have included this tee in my How To Wear Leopard Print Over 50 post. This is an easy way to include leopard print without having it be too bold.

Here is another cute pair of earrings. These heart earrings, along with all the others I’ve shown, are part of a six-pack that is under $15! You can wear them now and later, and each pair is only $2.50. The small Kendra Scott heart necklace is several years old, but you can find lots of heart jewelry here.

Here is a better look at the jeans I wore with all these Valentine’s Day T-shirts. I love the color of these jeans, and they fit me great. The side slit makes wearing ankle boots easier, but it looks weird to me. I understand why the slit is there, but I’m not sure I like the slit. What do you, Gurls, think?

How To Rock The Casual Valentine’s Day Look – Stripes

Here is another example of pairing a T-shirt and jeans with a blazer. As I’ve mentioned a few thousand times before, adding a blazer elevates your look. Instead of being a simply casual look, it is now an elevated casual look. Can you tell the difference?

The navy Original schoolboy blazer is one that I’ve had for a few years, and I wear it a lot. Like the black blazer above, it can be worn with almost anything. This blazer is a little thicker and better quality than the black one, and it isn’t as long.

The Amour striped tee looks a little more elevated than the other tees. Is it because of the colors and the stripes? I think the color block and stripes elevate the tee, and the pink wording is the perfect amount of a pop of color.

More Casual Valentine’s Day Looks Clothing

A graphic tee is an easy and inexpensive way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. This is your basic t-shirt in a cotton blend that you can wear alone or with a cute jacket or cardigan. Like the sweatshirts above, this comes in several of the same patterns. All told, there are over 50 different options to choose from! Plus, it’s just $18 dollars.

For my pet lovers! How cute is this T-shirt? There are other versions at the link, but for those of us who love our four-legged animals, this would be perfect. I could show my appreciation for Lucy every day, not just on Valentine’s Day! Under $20 dollars.

This is one of many options available at the link! There are great colors, some with candy hearts, even one with a truck hauling plaid hearts. It’s a fun and inexpensive way to celebrate the holiday. Just $27 dollars!

Valentine’s Day-centered clothing doesn’t have to have hearts. Words like “Lover” or “Love” work, or even the letters X and O. Wear it on an anniversary and watch your husband smile! These run true to size and are under $25 dollars.

Be sure to watch for more Valentine’s Day looks to hit your inbox in the next few days. I bet there will be a few outfits that you’ll love!

I’ve really enjoyed the Valentine posts. I love the 1st heart tee. When I went to Amazon, I saw it with a blue in the hearts. I love it.

Those jeans with pointy shoes really do make you look like you have long legs! But, I think you just look all around

  5. Love, love, Tees!! the tees!! ordering a couple for me and the paws heart for my daughter! No, for the side slit in the jeans. it would be really cute if the slot were on the outside of the leg though.

  6. love all the heart shirts but really like the earrings. so cute 🥰

  7. Love the tees and the jeans look comfortable and cute.

  8. sue koren says:

The jeans look great on you but I don’t think I would like them on me.

    1. I’m finally getting used to the cut, but it took awhile.

  14. Love the blazer with the valentine t-shirts!

  15. Phyllis Martin says:

    Such cute ideas!

  16. Jane Martin says:

    Hi Tania,
The Valentine’s tees are great fun. and are a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day without spending a lot of money.
And yes, your legs look long and lean. Your body is perfect for modeling.

  17. Roberta Schwandner says:

I don’t have any Valentine clothing but these tops were very cute and I loved the boots.

  18. LOVE the side slit jeans on you!! They make your legs look long and lean! I know the pointy toe shoes help but those jeans look so good. The lips tshirt is calling my name. Really loving your new hairstyle too.

  19. Laura Garrett says:

Love the look of a blazer over tee and jeans. Very cute and modern. Thanks for the tips.

  20. It’s been snowing non-stop here (outside Knoxville, TN) since 3 am. I think we’ve got more snow in 1 day than all of last winter. It is beautiful but I wonder if my husband’s car will make it up the hill to home! Our Valentines are always casual nowadays! 😊

  21. Ginger Hiller says:

Boy did you share some awesome tops and earrings. I am going to order the paw prints tee and the pack of earrings. I am waiting on the delivery of a Valentines sweatshirt I ordered from Wal-Mart that has graphics for coffee lovers, which I am. I knew that I could wear it longer, just like the paws heart tee. Yes, your legs look miles long and slender in those jeans and pointed toe boots. Like you, I’m not crazy about the slit at the hem of the jeans, but I get why it’s done. I have long legs and love when I can make them look even longer. It’s in the 60’s here and Spring like, which I prefer over being stuck in the house with a bunch of snow. I do love snow, but as a GA native, I’m not used to dealing with it.

    1. I saw several ladies were loving the paws graphic tee. I’m sure my mom loved it too.

  22. Stephanie Weeks says:

Cute look. D you have any looks for 50 year olds for a baby shower?

    1. I don’t think I’ve ever done a dedicated post on that.

  23. Jacque Abell says:

Love the sparkly lips. it makes me smile. I’m over the cold and snow. Can’t take the – degrees.

  24. I really like the Express jeans and the slit to me is a great detail that I like.

  25. Lisa Roberts says:

Love the cute Valentine vibe of these tees! Most could either be dressed up with black pants or down with jeans. Very versatile!

  26. Janice Nagle says:

I like the slit. The jeans look a little flared at the bottom. I also like adding a blazer over a graphic tee for a casual but elevated look. thanks for the links for the cute, but inexpensive holiday tees! Fun!
my area was supposed to have 6 inches of snow too, but we got about as much as you. I was disappointed, until I reminded myself that I didn’t have to shovel it!

  27. Diane Holley says:

We have the snow in Middle Tennessee. Six inches and still coming down. Thirteen degrees outside. We may be snowed in all week. I told my husband I may have to make biscuits because we ran out of the bag biscuits. I can make them just a lot of trouble. When I get started I enjoy making them. Love all the styles. I may have to try the Express jeans since they have short length. I had forgot about them. Thanks as always for sharing. I hope you get the snow.

    1. I love biscuits too, but I quit making them when Grands were so easy.

  28. Susan Mckenzie says:

LOVE ❤️ the Valentine tee’s!! Great way to holiday outfit without breaking the bank!!!!

  29. Dottie Kinnaman says:

Love is in the air! ❤️❤️ BTW, I’m in southwestern Virginia & we have snow with more to come (hopefully)!

  30. love the lip T! Definitely a purchase for me! How does this blazer fit? TTS??

    1. Yes! I ordered a large at first, but it was too big. So I sent it back for a medium.

  31. Thank you for the posts. You have such good taste! I buy a lot of items you recommend from Amazon.

I love the slit jeans! I have front slit flare leg yoga pants. I definitely like the style.

We woke up to 5 inches of snow in Tennessee.

  32. Great Valentines tee shirts

  33. Patti Jones says:

I love all the Valentine tshirts but I think my favorite is the paw print heart! I will be purchasing this one for sure!

  34. Kelly Smith says:

First of all, Thanks for the Amazon Gift Card last week! I was so surprised! I have already put it to good use!

Valentine!s day! Love the casual look! You are adorable in all the outfits!

  35. The first sequined tee and the heart earrings are just so cute. I love Valentine’s Day and decorated the house as soon as the Christmas things came down. Such a fun holiday!

  36. Cynthia Romine says:

I love the slit on the jeans, looks modern with those suede boots.

  37. cute tops. It’s snowing like a blizzard in the Memphis area. yay!.

  38. I do love the snow as long as I don’t have to go drive in it.

  39. These styles you’re wearing are so cute! I love all of them..

  40. Although the sneakers may not be considered chic, I love them for running errands, casual events with the kids/grands, etc. I think it’s a very put together look and plan to get a pair. I appreciate that you present many options

  41. Excited to celebrate the days leading up to St. Valentine’s Day with your adorable outfits! I will be adding a black blazer to a shirt I bought last year from your recommendations. So cute!

  42. I like the Amour t-shirt the best because it’s subtle. The jeans are cute and do make you look long and lean. I thought pointed toe was on trend and not round toe. (Every blogger seems to have a different opinion.) Both styles are classic. I prefer pointed toe because round toe unless it’s really wide hurts my big toe.

  43. You look great in the Valentine Day outfits. Thanks for the ideas and encouraging verse.

  44. Thanks for a fun post…you look great in all the pictures…love your hair. You wear it different all the time…wish I could get out of the rut of styling my hair the same! Whenever I ask a stylist to do what she thinks look the best…I get the same haircut! I’m going to have to investigate my closet for a fun Valentine’s Day outfit! It’s on Ash Wednesday this year, so I guess I won’t be giving up chocolate for Lent…ha ha. ❤️

    1. Lol! Joe usually gets me chocolate covered strawberries.

  45. What fun outfits! The multi pack of earrings looks like a deal. What I like about the outfits is that they aren’t too cutesy over-the-top Valentine looks. Some of them could be worn anytime of the year.

  46. I love your column.
Thank you. I’m 65 and your column is very appropriate for someone like me
Your taste in clothes is right on
    Happy early valentines 💌 day
    Do the tee’s run small?
I noticed you typically buy a medium
    I am a large, (12)
    Stay well, be safe

    1. Nancy, I’m between a medium and a large. The medium would have fit me better in the tees. I would think a large would fit a size 12 without any issue. I’m an 8-10 usually.

  47. Delanie Collings says:

I just love all the Valentine’s Day looks you chose! I have some heart themed tops and sweaters in my closet, but these are so cute, I’m going to have to order more!! The earrings are such a bargain and oh, so cute. You’re the best!

  48. Louise Logan says:

    Cute Cute Cute!!

  49. Do you know that the lips T shirt is from Rocky Horror Picture Show?

    1. No, it looks like the Rolling Stone Lips to me.

  50. You always inspire me to look my best. My friends have told me that I always look well put together. Love is in the air.

  51. Charlcy Green says:

Whoa, To Tania, you were speaking my language in this adorable post! I LOVE Valentines Day & ordered the earrings & 3 of the shirts! You look fabulous in all! You have really done a great job of staying thin & I love you’re hairdo too! More beautiful all the time! And I’m also a kid about the snow…still eating icecicles, making snow ice cream for my grands & attempting to make snowmen! It’s 10 degrees here this morning! Burrr!

    1. Burrr, that is so cold.

  52. Just ordered two of the Valentine T’s. Going on a cruise over Valentine’s Day so thought I might need something fun. Thanks for the idea!

    1. That sounds like a lot of fun!

  53. Valerie M says:

Love all these looks with hearts! I’m a Valentine’s Day baby so I love anything with hearts. Everything looks great on you!

    1. My SIL is also a VD baby.

  54. Great choices in t-shirts! I really like the pink with the red heart on the chest. Can you tell me what the fabric blend is for that one. I see on Amazon it says hand wash? Just wondering about ordering a medium or large depending on how much it could shrink. Thanks!

    1. It is a cotton blend. I feel like they say hand wash because of the screen printing.

  55. Love those jeans! I have a hard time with Valentine’s Day since losing my husband in 2021. Just can’t get excited anymore.

  56. Love these outfits, you can pull off anything you wear. My fave is the rhinestone lips with the red shoes is my fave!

  57. These are all such cute tops! I love elevating a casual t-shirt ! The jeans look great on you!

  58. personally, I love the little slit in the bottom of the jeans. I like little details like that

  59. Love all the ❤️ tops!! So cute!

  60. Doris Mitchell says:

Good morning – love these Valentine ideas! I really like the jeans with the slit, I think they look awesome on you. I’m going to check them out !

  61. I love the iconic Rolling Stones lips but have been afraid I was “too old” to pull it off. You look great in it, so I think I may give it a try : )

    1. If you like it, wear it.

  62. Love the lips tshirt, so cute!

  63. I love the split in the Express jeans. It gives the jeans a touch of style and makes the jeans look slightly bootcut without so much fabric at the bottom of the leg. I think I need the shorter version, which, alas, is sold out.

  64. Joyce Cushing says:

So many cute T’s! It’s hard to choose!

  65. Love the heart shirt and the striped one!

  66. We woke up to snow in Shreveport, LA!!
    Want to build a snowman?

  67. The forecast for snow was pretty much a dud here too!

    1. Its been snowing here all day, and it not supposed to quit anytime soon.

  68. Love the sequined lips for my preteen granddaugter! She has the lips one she wears for “Rock and Roll” dress up day at school!

    1. That’s what it reminded me of too.

  69. I love the LOVE t-shirt!!! Happy Monday❤❤❤

  70. I love the pink tees and red sweatshirt. Super cute ideas!! Now time to shop! 😀

  71. Love the cute shirts and fun earrings. I also like the slit in the jeans. Gives them a fun vibe with the shirts.

  72. Pam Bowling says:

I liked this post on Valentine’s Day. I am a First Grade teacher and a kid at heart. I always devote the entire week of Valentine’s Day by wearing valentine inspired outfits. I am always looking for more options.
I felt the same way about the slit in the jeans as you do.
I saw a pair and thought about ordering them, but hesitated. I will say they do look good on you. I think I will try a pair.

    1. I’m hoping everyone doesn’t get tired of all my Valentine’s outfits. Lol!

  73. Love the tshirts, lots of great options here. Do the jeans stretch out?

    1. They have some stretch to them, but they didn’t get baggy.

  74. Stella Gustafson says:

Oh my such cute outfits love the matching earrings

  75. Love the jeans and pointed shoes. Don’t like the sneaker look. Love the tshirt with blazer look! Thanks

  76. You sure did rock those outfits! Loved all the options & just have to decide which one to order!

  77. I’m born on Valentines Day, so I love everything too & snow!

    1. Joe’s sisters birthday is them also.

  78. Donna Brown says:

U r the Bomb! Always love your cool t shirts…u wear them so well!

  79. Linda Shearer says:

Cute shorts but really love those jeans!

  80. I, also Love ❤️ Day! Mainly because my son was born on it! Use to make Valentine’s Day Birthday Cakes when he was little! He somehow grew up and has a family of his own now but he’ll always be my 💙 I’m not sure about the jeans with split at bottom, and doesn’t it seem like split should be on outside? Anyway, I love all the styles and the earrings are adorable ❣️

  81. Such fun clothes for Valentines Day. And the earrings are really cute too!

  82. Love the heart t-shirt! I would also like to see a few v-neck options. 🙂 Thanks!

  83. You look cute in all the tees.
And I love the jeans with the split at the ankle from Expess.
I am curious about the orange item sitting on your sideboard.

    1. 😂 That is a huge salt lamp.

  84. I bought a pair of slit jeans, I’m still on the fence🥴
    I love pointed shoes!

  85. Yes to the jeans with the pointy toes.
No to the jeans with the sneakers.
Not wild about the slit, but the jeans fit you great and look great. Would not have seen the slitif you didn’t point it out.

  86. I understand the slit in the jeans and like you, it’s can see the advantage. However, it also see it flipping over in the pic and can see it flipping even more after washing.

I’m really torn on this one.

  87. Very cute tees. Added several to my shopping cart. LOL

Here’s to hoping you get some pretty snow soon. Best,

  88. I love valentine day also. And love the t-shirts you showed today.

  89. A little of your snow is here in Kansas! I agree, if it’s cold at least let it snow! Right now it feels like -16! We are supposed to get a little more snow today.
I enjoyed the post today, I think I will make a Valentine T this year! (with my Cricut)

  90. Cindy Vought says:

Tania the jeans look fabulous on you. I wouldn’t worry about the slit. I would love to see them with other shoes to compare wig the pointed shoes really make a ddifference.

    1. Cindy, I’m sure you’ll see them again, but almost all my shoes are pointy since I like that look the best. Lol!

  91. Yes to the jeans with the pointy toes.
No to the jeans with the sneakers.
Not wild about the slit, but the jeans fit you great and look great. Would not have seen the slit if you didn’t point it out.

    1. Pat, I’m not wild about the slit either, but I do understand how it would be helpful. I’ve seen lots of jeans and pants with the slit (it is trending), but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Lol!

  92. Alicia Wilson says:

    Love the pink heart tshirt.

    1. It is such a pretty color.
