Y’all know that I have a love for mixing high-end clothing with low-end clothing. There are times when low-end or less expensive clothing equals low quality. However, that is not always the case, just like high-end clothing doesn’t always equal high quality. For me, I like a little of both types of clothing, and I especially like getting my high-end clothing on sale. Lol!

When to splurge on high-end clothing or accessories

If I am going to splurge on high-end clothing or accessories, I have a few items where I will put my money. For the most part, I will splurge on classic pieces that I know that I will be able to wear over and over again. Accessories, such as handbags, jewelry, and shoes, I will sometimes splurge if I think that I will get my moneys wear with them. Those items don’t go out of style as quickly, and leather seems to last forever. This is a topic that I’ve discussed before, and I’ll probably revisit it many more times in the future

When to save by buying from low-end retailers

I will go with a low-end retailer for trendy items that I know I will only need to wear or use for a couple of years. Jeans are one thing that comes to mind since the style is constantly changing. When I splurge on jeans, it will be with boot-cut or straight-leg jeans since those are classics. They may not be the trendiest choice, but they never go out of style either.

In looking at this outfit, I want you to guess what is high-end and what is low-end. I guess that high-end and low-end depends on your situation. Some might think what I consider as high-end as the middle of the road or even low end. And, some will consider what I think of as low-end as middle or high-end. So, let’s throw spaghetti on the wall and see what sticks. Lol!

If you guessed that this Dusty Camel field jacket is low-end, then you were correct! You can’t see from the photos, but this is a thick and heavy jacket. I think that the quality of the jacket is waaaay better than the price indicates. This isn’t lined, so it isn’t a winter jacket, but it will be great for the entire fall season.

This jacket has a relaxed fit, and I am wearing a medium in it. If you are looking for a casual jacket under $35, you should seriously consider this one.

While we are up-close and personal, I’ll tell you what jewelry that I am wearing. Everything that I have on is from Kendra Scott, and I wear her jewelry probably 75% of the time, if not more. My large filigree hoop earrings are a pair I’ve had for a long time, and I still reach for them a lot. This style comes in several sizes and colors, so you are bound to find something that you like.

The other hoop earring that I wear even more is the AVI, and I wear that pair ALL OF THE TIME!!! I love them so much that I ordered them in gold and silver. The bracelets are the Rebecca stretch bracelet in white Howlite and the Fallyn cuff bracelet. They must have sold out of the Rebecca bracelet since I can’t find it on the website anymore.

I LOVE this cable-knit sweater tank. I already have this Latte color, and I loved it so much that I bought it in the cream white color. Even though this sweater tank was originally 79.00, which I would consider mid-range, it is now on sale to the point where it is considered low-end!

The cable-knit design is a classic knit, so you will be able to wear it for years to come. Plus, cable-knit is trending right now, so it is also considered modern and trendy, so you win all the way around! I am wearing a medium, and the top fits me great!

Now, let’s talk about jeans! These high-waist flare jeans are definitely high-end for me. I had never tried this brand before, and since I caught them on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I decided to give them a try. The website said to order up one size, so I ordered a 31 instead of my usual 30. They fit straight out of the bag, but I feel like they would stretch as the day goes on, so these are going back.

Here are some mid-range jeans that give you the same look.

WOW!!! That was all I said when I opened up the box of these haircalf pumps. These real fur shoes are so striking and chic, and I immediately fell in love with them. The shoes are on sale for 30% off with the code WEARNOW, so that makes them a little more affordable. They run true to size, and I am wearing my usual size 9.

I decided to style this outfit with two different handbags. This one is high-end for me, and the other handbag is higher-end. Lol! I love the color of this Allsaints bag, but I am honestly not in love with the shape. I would have loved it if it had looked in person like it does on the website. It just doesn’t have the pretty slouch that the website has; if it did, I would keep it. But, it is going back instead.

This Clare V. tote is stunning, but dang, it is expensive. What I like about the bag: the size, the print, the leather, and that it has feet on the bottom to keep it from getting dirty. What I don’t like: the price, the lack of structure, and I would like the handles to be bigger. The Allsaints bag didn’t slouch enough, and this bag is too slouchy. Lol! I am looking to see if there is a liner that would fit it that would help to give it more structure. I did get this bag on sale, so I might keep it. What do you think?

Even though I will never wear the jacket belted, I wanted to show you how it looks. Now, how many of you picked out the high-end items? I am thinking about starting up my Friday Favorites again. I am thinking about sharing makeup that I am trying, trying new skincare (yes, I still love my R+F, but I know that it isn’t for everyone), trying different accessories, gadgets, and maybe even home decor. (small items, not furniture, Lol!) What are your thoughts???

  1. Love the ideas for your future posts, I really like home “fashions” sprinkled in with all the fashion, hair and makeup ideas!!

  2. I love to see your favorites! I’ve gotten some good ideas from previous blogs of yours, such as the butter dish, erasable pens and a few more things that I can’t recall at the moment. It’s fun to see other things that people use; things I wouldn’t think of. And yes, to all of your other ideas.
Outfits in this blog are great. I do love that sweater tank. I love the shoes too, but would not have a place to wear them! Too specialized for me and I would not wear them as everyday wear as you show them here with jeans. Where do/would you wear them?

  3. Yes, to all your ideas for future posts!

  4. A big ‘ole YES to the Friday favorites!!!! Not a fan of the Clare V tote, would not keep it unless you absolutely love it because of the price.

  5. Marilyn Comstock says:

l don’t like either bag today for the reasons you gave. Both bags are out my price range choice.

  6. Is there a similar jacket low end? Sold out on line already.

  7. Thanks so much I got 2 sweater tanks for half price. This bible verse is one of my favorites!😘

  8. Linda M Holmes says:

I bought the cable knit pieces on sale also. Nice to see how you are wearing them.

  9. Ginger Hiller says:

I did pick out the jacket to be at a lower price point. Regarding the leopard print tote, if you don’t love it, I would return it and look for one that you do love. Your new heels are beautiful!

  10. Love everything about your look! Is the color of the jacket truer on you or on the web-site? Thanks.

    1. I think the color of the jacket looks more like mine than on the website.

  11. Definitely get an insert for the Clare V bag if you keep it. I recently got an expensive structured bag but it is a tote, so I got an insert for it and love the organization of it instead of stuff all over the place!

  12. Love the fall jacket, please share any similar you find. I would never have thought of the sweater tank but how great to layer it w/ the jacket. Great ideas!

  13. The timing of this is unbelievable!! I LOVE purses and have typically purchased Coach or D&B so I’m not buying multiple bags a year. I was just thinking yesterday, “I wonder what Tania would think about buying less expensive bags to have a variety”, and here you are!!

  14. I look forward to your posts!!!! I would love your suggestions and reviews about skincare and makeup.

  15. I find that the buttons are a telltale sign of a less expensive jacket. I like to change the buttons with fancier ones to upgrade the look. I do this with dresses, blouses, and thrift store items as well.

  16. I love the post today! Cute outfit and those shoes are to die for.
I didn’t get your email today so I had to hunt your post today for some reason.
    Have a great weekend.

  17. Yes! to sharing skin care, makeup, furniture, etc. Love the idea.

  18. Elizabeth says:

Love today’s look! – The jacket is already gone, but there should be options out there. The bags are both gorgeous, but the price is exorbitant especially for the lack of structure, better straps/handles and subsequent ease of function. I’d hold off for something else.

  19. Just ordered the sweater tank in two colors. Got a great deal!

  20. Gina Solak says:

I say yes to Friday favorites!

    1. Friday favorites…YES!!

  21. Angelia Wampner says:

Would love more ideas for make up ( for mature skin) hair styles, home decor, winter coats, us girls all share the same dilemmas in life , lets help one another out..

  22. Love the idea of Friday favorites and makeup ideas.

    1. YAY!!! I am ordering some things, and I have already been experimenting with a few items.

  23. Tania those jeans are amazing on you but I know what you mean about feeling like they’ll stretch out. But dang gurl, legs for days in those babies!

      1. Carrie D Kujath says:

I have to agree with theblondesshoppingbag! That was the first thing I noticed in the photos was how great those jeans looked on you! But those are definitely high end….hard to swallow paying that much for jeans, but wow! They look FANTASTIC on you – you look super trim!

  24. Donna Roberts says:

    Tania,
When you do not use the tie belt in a jacket, do you just remove it or do you knot it in the back? ( ie. The Walmart camel jacket) I am long waisted and turn back so many outfits bc the belt ends us under my boobs!

    1. Donna, most of the time I tie it in the back because of the belt loops. If there aren’t any belt loops, then I will remove it.
