50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINEGood morning “Gurls!!!” Doesn’t this dress just exude sunshine? I mean, who could not be happy wearing this dress? I think it would be virtually impossible to be sad in this dress. Isn’t that what clothing is supposed to do? Clothing should make you “feel” something. It is a direct reflection on your mood and personality. So, what do your clothes say about you?50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINEI can already hear some of you groaning. “Don’t make me look at my clothes as a reflection of me.” Sorry!!! That is exactly how society judges you and me. If you don’t know a person, then their outward appearance tells the story. Every day is different for me. Today I was very happy, and it showed it my outfit choice. Occasionally I get in a “funk,” and my outfits will reflect that. Dark colors will usually be my choice on those days, or a pair of jeans and the first top that catches my eye. In other words, I really couldn’t care less. I HATE THOSE DAYS! Clothing is important to me, not because I am a label reader or that I want someone to notice me, but because it affects “me.” 50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINEWhat I see when I look at this outfit might not be what you see. That could be for any outfit you wear. Suppose you have a favorite t-shirt that has a “special” meaning. When you wear it, it might make you feel loved or special. If I met you coming down the street, your confidence might impress me, but I might just see a worn out t-shirt. In that case, I would take the confidence and love over appearance. But that doesn’t mean you need to start pulling out all those old rock-band t-shirts you wore to concerts years ago. But every now and then strolling down memory lane is good for the soul. My outfit today says happy, confident, stylish, and fun. The pop of pink is why I consider the outfit fun. What does it say to you? 50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINEI bought this dress (Sandra Darren) the other day at a local department store in town, Pebbles. I don’t know if you have ever heard of that store, it is like a Goody’s. Anyway, I went there to buy Joe a couple of pair of dress pants and shirts, and I of course had to at least look through the sales rack for me. This dress was on clearance, and I ended up getting the dress for only $12.00. AND, I even had someone in church on Sunday (that is when I wore this) and say that they had been sitting behind me having dress envy. Hahaha That doesn’t happen everyday. I of course had to tell them where they could go buy their own and how much I paid for it. Joe has always said, “Can’t you just say thank you?” Nope! I am a sharer!

Dress of Sunshine: Badgley Mischka | Alyx | Liz Claiborne | Sandra Darren (Plus)
50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINEI know you have already seen these shoes here (with hot pink) and here (with dark gray), so I won’t go into great length about them. However, I will say this. When I bought these shoes , I never thought I would wear them over once or twice, and instead I wear them almost weekly. So, “step”  outside your comfort zone and try new things. Your comfort zone might expand for the better.
50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINEThis hot pink purse I knew I would carry. I didn’t know how much, but I knew it was a bright summery color, and I could always carry it in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I treat this purse as a neutral. I will carry it with almost anything, unless I have another purse that will go with the outfit I have on even better. And even then, I am sometimes too lazy to move everything from one purse to another. See, I am just like the rest of you. Lol!

Hot Pink Tote: Vince Camuto | Kate Spade | Leather (Only 55.00)
50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINEI didn’t wear a lot of jewelry with this look. Which is a good thing, since my mother told me I have been going overboard on the jewelry. What does she know, does she have a blog? Lol! I let the neckline shine with the embellishments from the dress. I added a vintage wide yellow and white bangle, and a Chloe & Isabel Retro Square-Cut Crystal bracelet. If you want to place an order from Chloe & Isabel, please type my name, Tania Stephens, in the Find A Merchandiser box.50 IS NOT OLD | SUNSHINE

Now, look down at what you are wearing. What does it say about you? If you are not sure, ask your friend or your husband. Tell them to be honest, and then decide if that is how you wanted to be portrayed. If not, then it is time for a style make-over.

  1. Like the dress but hate the bag with it. Didn’t compliment the outfit at all . There should be some hint if that color in the outfit.

  2. Yellow is one of my favorite colors. You always look so bright and alive, Tania!

  3. Haven’t had time to reply, LOVE your style & outfits!

  4. I work at a place where black or khaki pants and black or white shirts are required. The aprons we wear haven’t been replaced for months. It’s sad! But when I’m not at work, I wear color! Maybe that’s another reason I enjoy your blog so much, I just wish certain employers would read it lol!

  5. Another great look that I would definitely wear! I love the color on you. I tend to always go with greys, blacks and blues so I’ve been branching out with more colors. Keep those ideas coming! Have I told you lately I love your blog! Have a sunny day!!!

  6. Shelley C. says:

Love the sunny look! And you nailed the jewelry on this one…that soft, subtle, beautiful neckline would have been lost if it had to compete with blingy jewelry.

  7. Susan Stancliff says:

You are so right, our clothing does reflect how we feel! And a great outfit can make us feel better! I love your style, it is so close to mine. And I love all the different places you shop. I look forward to your blog every day! Thank you!!

  8. Melesa Garrison says:

Super cute dress at a super great price, right? My husband gets irritated with me when I do that too, but I say things like “Oh, I’ve had this for ages!” or try to convince them that I really don’t look that great in it bc…blah, blah, blah!!! I do need to stop that and say Thank you so much (just do it, Melesa)

  9. Kristine Thompson says:

Love dresses, especially in the summer. You look so put together.
A while back you posted a blog on your hair cut,
can you tell me what day that was? I am in need of a little hair maintenance.

  10. How do you decide what to get rid of in your closet. I need to downsize mine. But where do I start?

  11. Hi! I love your blog and your “way with words”….I look forward to seeing you everyday on your blog! I wish there was a way to sign up for the “giveaways” other than Facebook and Twitter. I know…I know….I need to get in the current century…BUT I don’t do those…..guess that is a perk I am missing out on! Hope you have a blessed day!

  12. robjodiefilogomo says:

Hah—that’s so me—I’m always saying where I got it and how much I spent (when it’s a great deal)—and my husband says the exact same thing yours does!

  16. Good Morning! I just wanted to inform you that you are such a great inspiration to me. I am coming upon the age of 50 in 2017 and it is so fantastic to know I do not have to be frumpy! I love your style. Bright, cheerful, tasteful, stylish, and comfortable! On New Year’s Day of 2016, I realized that this was my last year in my 40s. I decided to embrace the fact that I was turning 50 and decided to make this last year…”all about me”. I have lost 50 lbs since New Year’s, researched and found several blogs of women in their 50’s that have embraced the age. You are in the top 2 of my favorite! Just felt the need to share that with you! Happy Bloggin and Keep on Inspiring! You are making a difference
