50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO GO FROM DRESSY TO CASUAL | FASHION OVER 40How many of you have sung a song for years only to find out that the words you had been singing were completely wrong? Lol!!! I heard someone singing the Bon Jovi song, “Living on a Prayer” once and they said, “it doesn’t make a difference if we’re naked or not” instead of “it doesn’t make a difference if we make it or not.” I just kept looking at them trying to decide if they were just being funny and being silly. But, no, they really thought those were the lyrics. Why did this come to my mind?50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO GO FROM DRESSY TO CASUAL | FASHION OVER 40I was sitting at the kitchen table which is very normal for me because that is where my laptop sits most of the time. I had fixed supper and Joe came over and sat down to eat. He looked over at me and said, “Madagascar and coffee.” Once again, I just looked at him for the longest time trying to decide if he was being funny. What the heck was he thinking? I opened up my cardigan and showed him my t-shirt that I had on and said, “Do you mean Mascara and Coffee?” Then he stared at me for a long time like “I” was the one being funny. He said, “well, that makes no sense. What do mascara and coffee have to do with each other?” Really? Really? Like I am going to be wearing a t-shirt that says, “Madagascar and coffee!!!!” Men, you gotta love them!50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO GO FROM DRESSY TO CASUAL | FASHION OVER 40Okay, gurls, do you remember when I wore this outfit the other day? If not, then you can check out that post here. I mentioned at that time that I was doing a before and after of the same clothing. This relaxed and comfortable version is the after. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO GO FROM DRESSY TO CASUAL | FASHION OVER 40This is what I wore to church the other Sunday. When I came home I wanted to take off my skirt, shoes, etc., and when I converted the outfit to an everyday Sunday afternoon outfit I decided to show you gurls what I was doing. I wore my open front cardigan for two reasons. One, I have on a sleeveless tank top and I don’t think that would have an appropriate look for the church. Lol! And, two, it is either cold as blue blazes in the church or hotter than hates in there. Haha. I wanted to be prepared for the cold but I guess I would have just had to sweat it out if it had been hot.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO GO FROM DRESSY TO CASUAL | FASHION OVER 40I added quite a bit of jewelry to this look but you can always scale back if you don’t like as much. People would think that I was sick if I didn’t wear a lot. Haha! I am starting at the top and moving down. My Esme earrings are 1″ studs with mini pearls and rhinestones. They match all of the other pearl jewelry without being the “exact” same pattern. The shorter necklace is the Anna Marie necklace and the longer necklace is the Lizzy. The Lizzy comes with an attached cream/yellow material tassel but I took it off. The tassel was just too large and distracting but now that it is off I wear this necklace all the time. The bracelet that matched the Anna Marie necklace is sold out but the Lucinda bracelet is still available and it is adjustable up to 9 inches. I want to remind you that the Plunder special is almost over. Join my Plunder team this month and Plunder will gift you TWELVE extra pieces of jewelry!!! It is only 99.00 to join so be sure to check it out. Go to plunderdesign.com/taniastephens and at the bottom of the page (in the right-hand column) hit the Become A Stylist tab. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO GO FROM DRESSY TO CASUAL | FASHION OVER 40This skirt!!! Oh my goodness, this is a favorite of mine! I received this skirt from Purple Poppy, one of my favorite stores, back last year. I have worn it on several occasions. I love the boho feel to this Tempo Paris skirt and it reminds me of something that I would wear on the beach. I may have to take this with me when we go to Cancun. I saw a white and a taupe version on her site but I didn’t see this exact one available. It might be there, I just didn’t have time to search the entire site.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO GO FROM DRESSY TO CASUAL | FASHION OVER 40What I “wanted” to wear and what I “wore” was two completely different things, Lol! I wanted to wear a cute pair of taupe high heel shoes but since the day that I wore this it was snowing and yucky outside I did the smart thing and wore this gray boots. The taupe heels were waaaaay cuter! These are H by Halston and they are a knee boot.

    Pinned! Love the skirt.

  3. Love the outfit Tanya. Your song lyrics made me chuckle. Years ago The Marshall Tucker Band sang a song called “Heard it in a love song.” Well when the song would come on the radio I would belt it out thinking the words were “Early Indian Love Song” instead of “Heard it in a love song”. Until one day my sweet husband asked me why I was singing the song with those words. Yep….one of those moments in life….we laugh about
    It to this day….
