FOLLOW ME
I haven’t been sleeping very good the past week because of a persistent cough, but that was not what woke me up from a hard sleep last Wednesday. I was sleeping soundly, when all at once my eyes popped open because I heard the words, “follow me.” I couldn’t go back to sleep for a long time because I was confused about what that meant. I assumed that the Lord was speaking to me, but I needed more direction.
Maybe you are like me when it comes to directions. Don’t tell me to go to Route 83, and then go North on Route 98. Instead, tell me to go to the red light and take a right. Stay on that road until you come to a fork in the road, and then go left. I need everything spelled out for me if you want me to arrive at my destination.
I just kept thinking, follow you where Lord? Is there something that You want me to do because You need to be more specific in Your instructions. When the Lord spoke to Peter in Matthew, I am sure that he was as confused as I was.
Matthew 4:19
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Peter was a fisherman by trade and he knew all about catching fish. But, Peter had no idea what it would mean to go fishing for men. Even though he had no idea what Jesus wanted, he still obeyed. Read Matthew 4:20.
20 At once they left their nets and followed him.
I am not sure why I heard those words, but I have decided that I am going to follow Jesus in the best way that I know. Here is my plan:
- I am going to seek out His words by being consistent in my morning devotional.
- I am going to try and put His words into practice by making Him a priority in my life.
- I am going to let His light shine in me so that others might come into the light.
Jesus is the light! Let His light shine in you.
John 8:12
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Have a Blessed day!
Good things for all of us to do, Tania! Thanks!
Great words I believe in that Follow me and also Let go and let God he knows what we go through and knows how to help us if we believe have a great Sunday and hope your cough gets better! Thanks for your blo!
A big resounding Amen! I get teary eyed just reading the words “Follow Me.” Two of the most important words we will ever hear. Simple words, yet not always easy to comply when our own desires get in the way. Thank you for reminding all of your readers!
Perfect words!
Some times we get so self involved with life we forget to get out of Gods way and let him be in control. There’s a country song by Carrie Underwood whose ttitle is “Jesus Take The Wheel”. That’s a good rule to live by. God may be trying to open another door for you. God bless you & heal your cough. ?? You touch many lives.
Amen!
Honestly, I have been so busy this summer I have not been putting God first. Thank you for the reminder. God bless.
What a beautiful God moment. I’m going to keep those steps in my heart as well. Life is hard but life is joyful when we follow Him.
Love this post! Tania thank you for inspiring us. I love that you have a specific plan to follow Him. I need to be more consistent with mine. I always have good intentions but don’t always follow through. My days are different and more peaceful when I do! Happy Sunday.
So enjoy your Sunday posts. Hope your cough is better.
