50 IS NOT OLD | FALL FASHIONS ON MY MIND | FASHION OVER 40The crispness of fall might have been in the air last week, but today it was missing in action. It was in the high 90’s today, and that is not the best day to choose to have pictures made outside. I take most of my pictures outside on my porch with a tripod and the timer on my camera. But, I like to occasionally have a photographer take some “on location” photos to mix things up. Today we headed over to our local golf course for the photo session.
50 IS NOT OLD | FALL FASHIONS ON MY MIND | FASHION OVER 40I spent the morning steaming my outfits and getting all of the jewelry and shoes together for each outfit. If you are friends with me on FaceBook, then you might have seen that I was in the market for a steamer for my clothing. I narrowed it down to a stand-up steamer, and a hand-held steamer, but I couldn’t decide which one that I wanted. I needed the hand-held one for traveling, but I wanted the stand-up one because it had a bigger water tank and didn’t need feeling up as often. So, I ended up buying BOTH of them. Lol! Don’t tell Joe; he thinks that the things I buy are ridiculous, but he can buy a golf club, in four different brands, and he thinks that is fine. Lol! Here is the stand-up one I purchased, and here is the hand-held one.
50 IS NOT OLD | FALL FASHIONS ON MY MIND | FASHION OVER 40I am still in a fall frame of mind, even though the temperatures are in summer heatwave mode. Adding a top like this to my look appeases my fall need, but is perfect for the steamy weather of summer. This eyelet tied tank in olive will be an item that I will be wearing from now until winter hits. I am not sure why the lighting shows the side panels as brown because it is precisely the same color as the front. The side is a knit material, and the front is eyelet cotton, but the colors are almost identical. I bought this at my local Cato Fashions, and here is the link for the top if you don’t have a Cato store in your neighborhood.
50 IS NOT OLD | FALL FASHIONS ON MY MIND | FASHION OVER 40These woven wicker hoop earrings make a huge statement. I was surprised at how large these earrings were when they arrived. I have had other earrings that were a 3.5″ drop, and they did not seem near this large. It must be because of the hoop style. Since they made such a statement, I didn’t feel the need to wear a necklace and decided to let them be the focal point of my jewelry. The soft pale olive suede cuff bracelet with the crystal embellishments is called Page. I thought the bracelet was going to be a brighter green, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was softer in color when it arrived. The bracelet has an adjustable magnetic closure, so it is easy to put on and take off. This is going to be an excellent bracelet for fall.
50 IS NOT OLD | FALL FASHIONS ON MY MIND | FASHION OVER 40Another staple this fall is going to be my Tory Burch flats. These are so soft and subtle, and I love the deep caramel color with the bright gold emblem. These are very comfortable, and they have a padded insole and a slip-resistant rubber sole. The website says that the split sole and flexible construction make it easy to fold into the included shoe bag and take along, whether you’re traveling, commuting or heading to a gala event and planning to dance the night away. I have not tried folding the shoe yet, but the next time I go somewhere, I will try that to see if it works. Lol!
50 IS NOT OLD | FALL FASHIONS ON MY MIND | FASHION OVER 40Today is the first day that I have worn these cuffed crop jeans. I like the way they fit, and I love the tiny bit of distressing on the jeans. It is just enough, without being overtly destroyed. These come in petite sizes also, but I am not sure about plus size. The jeans fit true to size; I am wearing my usual size 10, and they fit great. One of the best things about these jeans is that they are on sale and under thirty dollars! Here is the link.

I’ve used a stand-up steamer probably for over 30 years…mine is now “vintage.” And, I’ve used Joy Mangano’s “little steamer” for probably the last ten years….they are great! Just hang “whatever” up on a bathroom door hook and steam away! So much better than ironing, especially getting rid of those linen wrinkles.

Steamers are great. I tend to shy away from fabrics that demand an iron! Love the handbag, but you didn’t mention where to get it. Fall is my favorite time of year….it’ll be here before we know it!

I can’t even think of fall yet when it took so long to warm up where I live. I do like the olive though. I have the stand up steamer and think it is great. I never iron.

I’m loving the fall colors! I was in Cato yesterday, and olive green is definitely their color for fall! Now if we could only get the weather to cooperate.
