They say the eyes are a mirror to the soul. I don’t know if that’s true, but it’s pretty much what every single person you speak to will be looking at while you talk. I’m always amazed at how many people throw on some mascara and call it a day. Gurls! Take the extra few minutes. Don’t worry I you don’t know what you need. Today I’m sharing everything you need for great looking eyes. 🙂

Over 50 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is showing beauty products to get beautiful looking eyes.

When it comes to makeup, it doesn’t matter if you wear some, none, or look like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show; we can all agree that we can all use a little “enhancement.” Most of you probably use lipstick occasionally to add color and brighten up your face.

The same is needed for the eyes, especially since they are always on display. They aren’t ever covered, unlike the mouth that was covered when we all wore masks. Below are items that I’ve used over the years or that my friends and family members use and love. I love experimenting with makeup, so what I use can change weekly. Lol!

Be sure to check out the name-brand sellers that I buy from on Amazon. I prefer getting my products there if possible since I’m a Prime member I get free shipping, and the products are here before I can blink an eye. (Get it…eye!)

Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes – Concealer

I did an entire post about concealers recently, but I wanted to add one more. This Bye Bye Under Eye is the real deal. It is thicker than others, but don’t let that scare you. Just put a TINY dab on your finger and lightly apply. A little goes a looooonnngggg way. It’s one of my faves. This might not be the one that I use on a daily basis, but believe me; there are times when nothing else will cover the dark shadows!

Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes – Eye Shadow

Tarte is one of my go-to eye shadows. I’m a huge fan! This is one that I use all of the time. It has 28 different colors. Some are shimmery, some are matte, but none go into full metallic. These are rosy, plum, and bronze neutrals that look amazing.

This is another great pallet from Tarte with browns and tans. It is my second favorite, and I’ve used it so much that I probably need to order another one. These neutrals are good for just about anyone. I use dark black as a smudged eyeliner. I wear a lot of tan eyeshadows, especially on the brow line as a highlight, but they work especially well for people with brown eyes.

Have you tried eyeshadow sticks? I think cream sticks go on really easily, and they tend to last a long time. These come in 6 to a pack and are waterproof. They are very popular, and have great reviews! I honestly haven’t tried this brand; here are some that I’ve used.

Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes – Mascara

I’ve also done an entire post on mascaras recently. I featured several, but one of my all-time favorites is this one by ILIA. I love that it’s very gentle for my eyes because all of the ingredients are non-toxic, and it removes easily. It also doesn’t bother my contacts. And it gives me nice, thick lashes, which is the whole point, lol. Other favorites are:

Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes – Pencils

How can anyone leave the house without eyeliner?! Properly applied eyeliner makes your eyelashes look fuller, and can be used to reshape the eye! Cat’s eye, anyone? This eyeliner is waterproof and comes in several shades. Remember when I mentioned reviews? I also love one by ILIA; it doesn’t tug at all.

This is another option. I know some people don’t like liquid eyeliner, but I love it. Liquid eyeliner is darker than traditional pencil liners, which results in a bolder line. When Taylor Swift sings the lyric that says, “Draw the cat eye sharp enough to kill a man,” she should add, “and use liquid eyeliner to do it!” Lol! I also use Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, which has a fine tip and a finer tip.

Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes – The Brows

Eyebrows are SO important, yet so many women don’t even bother! Eyebrows can completely change your look. I know that women of a certain age start to lose their eyebrows, so let’s start with this stencil kit. You’ve probably seen these advertised. You put the stencil where you want your brow to be; then you stamp in the color. This takes some trial and error, so don’t freak out. It can be disconcerting to go from no eyebrows to eyebrows. Play with different shades and shapes!

Sometimes you just need a bit of fill and shape. Gurls, when I tell you that this brow pencil is popular, I mean it is POPULAR. This is very skinny to fill in tiny spaces, and it comes in lots of colors, so you should have no issue finding your correct shade.

Finally, once you get your eyebrows done, you’ll want to set them. This is clear, so think of it as hairspray for your brows! Get them in the right shape, set, and go. Everyone knows the CoverGirl brand, so it should surprise you that this is a very affordable!

Comment and let me know if you’re going to start taking more time with your eye makeup!

Thanks for this information. It was during covid and zoom calls that I realized I needed to define my brows without looking like something from Angry Birds, lol! All your suggestions are very helpful and I will be watching your recommended video.

    1. Have a blessed weekend! 😊

  4. Your eyes looks so pretty! No matter what I use or try I end up with a black ring under my eyes. I don’t like waterproof mascara. I’ve tried pencils, shadow etc and nothing seems to help it stay in place. Any suggestions?

    1. Trish, try using eye shadow, instead of a pencil to line your eyes. And, make sure to set any concealer that you use with powder before adding any type of liner.
