EVERY SEASON I SWITCH UP MY MAKEUP
Every season I switch up my makeup. The colors change in the fall, so I tend to go with deeper shades than in the spring and summer. Makeup can be expensive, and it can quickly add up to a huge chunk of change when switching out all of your makeup. It doesn’t have to be that way though! Everything that I am using today is listed below and is from Walmart, and it is at a great price.
Makeup is fabulous at highlighting your assets and camouflaging your flaws. But, to look great in your makeup, you need to start with your skin. I’m a huge skincare fan, and I know that you need to be consistent if you want results. I started using L’Oreal Midnight Serum (only available at Walmart) two weeks ago, and I like the serum. It is too early to see any major changes, but I am being consistent and can’t wait to see results. Plus, I love the glass container, which looks awesome on my bathroom sink.
L’Oreal Midnight Serum is an Anti-Aging Serum with Patented Antioxidant, Vitamin E, and Hyaluronic Acid. It is effective for all skin types and tones – Dermatologist Tested, and suitable for sensitive skin. According to their website, it is preferred to the number 1 luxury night serum (based on a head-to-head consumer preference study of 350 women vs. the #1 luxury serum retailing for $75.00 for 1 fl. oz.)
I only use a little of the L’Oreal Midnight Serum, and then I smooth it all over my face and neck. Don’t forget the neck area; it needs lots of love and attention also.
The first thing I noticed was the fragrance. There is a small fragrance, but it is light and pleasing. Since I have issues with certain fragrances, this is always the first thing I check out. The next thing that I noticed was how fast the serum absorbed into my skin. By the time I put the dropper back in the glass container, it had already sunk into my skin!
You always use serums before creams, so you should follow this serum with a good moisturizer. L’Oreal Age Perfect nighttime anti-aging moisturizer is a great one to try if you don’t already have one on hand.
After I am finished with my skincare, now comes the makeup. I start with my foundation first, and I am using L’Oreal Visible Lift lightweight foundation in the colors Soft Ivory and Nude Beige.
I like mixing two colors together for my foundation to get the perfect skin tone color. In the summer, I will use more of the darker shade, and I will use more of the lighter shade in the winter. I apply a small amount to the back of my hand first, and then I can build the color if I need more.
I think that I might have used a little too much of the lighter color this time, but I can go back and fix that easily. You just completely cover your face making sure to get the hairline, neckline, and ears.
I then applied my concealer next under my eyes and blended it upward towards my temples.
The concealer that I am using is L’Oreal Infallible Full Wear Concealer in the shade Fawn. This concealer is waterproof and a non-greasy formula that won’t transfer, fade, or flake.
Because the foundation and the concealer are liquid products, I need to set them with a setting powder. I’ve used L’Oreal Hydra Perfect Loose Setting Powder for years. I usually prefer the translucent powder, but it does come in a couple of other shades if you want extra color.
I use a large fluffy brush and cover my entire face with it. And leftover powder and be blended in easily.
Moving on, it is time to do my eyebrows. I like to do my eyebrows before my eyeshadow because they frame my eyes and make them more visible.
I like this L’Oreal Brow Stylist Pencil because it has an attached spoolie. Before I color in my brows, I use the spoolie to lift my eyebrow hairs to see the shape of my brows better.
Then, I color in my brows with the pencil part, and I try to keep my eyebrows the same size and shape. That hardly ever happens, but I try. Lol!
The finished product!!! I used the Blonde shade, but it is available in two other shades if this is too light for you.
Remember that I usually wear darker shades in the winter, so I chose the L’Oreal LA Palette in the Intense version. There is also a regular version if you want to stick to the lighter nude shades.
Here are the different shades that I used for my look. I start with the lightest shade (1) and completely cover my entire eyelid.
I use a fluffy brush and apply the shadow from the eyelashes to the brow bone.
Next, I picked a light pink (8) since I was doing a daytime look.
This shade I applied to the lid from the eyelashes to the crease of my eye.
Then, I blend the two colors together. The mauve shade (3) is a nice neutral shade without being too dark.
The darker brown shade (6) will give me more definition, especially since I am also using it as an eyeliner.
I apply the two colors to the eyelashes, like eyeliner, and then to the sides and the crease of my eye. Then, you have to do a lot of blending to get the shade that you want.
I have to use mascara, or you won’t be able to see my blonde eyelashes. I found this Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara and primer by L’Oreal set, which is only available at Walmart, and it is a fabulous deal.
I never used to use primer because I didn’t see a difference in my lashes. My daughter taught me that I have to apply the primer and let it set before applying the mascara. The primer goes on white, and it dries clear, so you have to wait until it is clear before applying the mascara.
While the lash primer is drying, I can now apply my L’Oreal true match blendable blush. I have two different shades because one is for summer and one is for fall. The lighter shade is Rosy Outlook, and the darker shade is Spiced Plum.
I am applying the Spiced Plum shade, and I am only applying it to the outside of my cheeks. I don’t apply it under my eyes because I want that area to be light and airy. By applying the blush higher on the cheek, it gives me an instant facelift.
I went darker with my lipstick also, and I am wearing L’Oreal Infallible Pro 2-step lipstick. This is a lip stain that will last you almost all day long. One end is the lip color, and the other end is a moisturizing balm. I use the wand’s tip to outline my lips and then fill them in with the remaining color.
Since this is such a dark shade, I wiped off most of the lipstick back into the tube and only applied a very small amount. At night, I will build on the color since I will want a more dramatic color. This comes in LOTS of shades, so you can find the perfect one for you.
Now that the eyelash primer is dry, it is time to apply my L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara.
I start at the base of my lashes and work my way all the way to the tips. One coat of mascara is all that I ever use, and this covered great and really made my eyelashes look fabulous.

You look so young and beautiful and fresh faced without any makeup on!!
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial.
Thanks for the easy to follow make up tutorial. I’m not into wearing eyeshadow, but now I just may give it a try, after practicing, of course!
Hi Tania! Can you please tell me the shade of lipstick you used. I didn’t see it in the post (although it may be staring me in the face). Thanks so much!
What a fun idea, I’ve never really thought of updating my makeup seasonally. I have several tired items so I went yesterday and picked up some new makeup brushes, foundation, and eyeshadow. Fun little fall treat for myself!
This is great! Thank you!
Thanks so much Tania. Yes I do use Rodan and Fields and I love the products and feel that most work well for me – hence my questions about L’Oréal. Appreciate your candid response and I’ll continue using Rodan and Fields.😊
They look beautiful
I loved your makeup tutorial. You and I have almost the same coloring so it was good to see the colors on you. I missed the scripture verse today.
Just curious. I know you represent and sell Rodan and Fields products and skincare regimen, but here you’re promoting L’Oréal products. How does one determine which is best to use? Don’t they directly compete with each other? Not criticizing- just trying to determine which may be best.
Jeanne, do you use Rodan + Fields? My point is, R+F products are PREMIUM skincare and the price reflects that. A lot of women who read my blog don’t have the finances available to purchase RF, so I decided to try skincare at affordable price points to give them options. Will I change products, probably not. But, if I find something that I like, then I’ll incorporate it in my routine.
I love your makeup ideas! Very cool to see how you professionals apply it! Do you still use the stuff you sell on your face? I”m just curious if you replaced it with the Walmart stuff, or use it in addition to Walmart,..
Diane, I still use my Rodan + Fields products 2x a day, and I love them. I used this product in addition to my products so that I could give my opinion on how the product smells and feels, etc.
Love your blog! You are one of very few women that looks good even with no make up!
Awww, you are too sweet!
Love your step by step makeup tips! Thanks!
I am so glad that you enjoyed this post.
Beauty!
Thanks!
I never knew to let the primer dry before putting on mascara! Thank you!
I am so glad that this post helped you, Charlotte.
Missed your scripture at the end.
Marin, I understand, but I never add my scripture to sponsored posts. I don’t force my opinions on them, and I wouldn’t want the brands to force their opinions on me.
What a wonderful post! Tania, your makeup looks amazing. I can’t wait to try some of these L’Oreal products.
L’Oreal is a well-known brand that has great products.
Thank you for including those on a fixed income so we can be a part of your blog, So many blogs have gone elite or something, 400$ tops. Eek!
I love this tutorial. I want to try the serum and boy that mascara makes your pretty eyes pop. I’ll try that.
You are welcome, Eve. That is why I like working with Walmart.
Beautiful makeup! What color did you use on your lips?
Leigh, I didn’t pack the lip stain on this trip, so I’ll check the name when I get home.
Are you still endorsing R&F. Love your makeup tips.
Yes, Judy, I still use my RF products every day and have for the past 5 years. But, I know that everyone doesn’t use RF, or can afford the products, so I am trying other products to give them choices.
That was a great tutorial and you look beautiful Tania!
I’m glad that you enjoyed the tutorial, Connie
THanks – that was a great tutorial
Thanks, Elizabeth.
Hi Tania! I see you went back to your acrylic nails. What made you decide to do that?
I am using a gel topcoat over my real nails to help them keep from breaking.
Love the look of your face! Your top is so cute! Where did you get it?
Thanks, Lois! The top is one from Nordstrom, but it has already sold out.
