50 IS NOT OLD | DOG DAYS AGELESS STYLE LINK-UPIf you are like me, you might have to google what the “Dog days of summer” even means. I had no real clue, I just thought it had to do with being really hot and miserable. I had also heard this was the period of time when the snakes shed their skins, become blind, and will strike at anything. Mostly, though, they are just referred to as the hot, sultry days of summer.50 IS NOT OLD | DOG DAYS AGELESS STYLE LINK-UPCome to find out, it has nothing to do with dogs, and everything to do with the constellations. How in the world did we make that jump? This was a Greek and Romans term that refers to the dog star, Sirius. It also coincides with the hottest time of the year, a time the Greeks thought could bring fever or catastrophe.50 IS NOT OLD | DOG DAYS AGELESS STYLE LINK-UPNow that you have had your history, and astrology lesson, let’s move on to fashion. Lol! I thought since we were doing blog posts about the heat, I should wear shorts. But the star of this post is the fringe kimono! I wore this kimono already (see here) once this year, but the pictures were before the sun came up so you might not have gotten a good look at how stunning it really is. These wraps are relatively inexpensive, especially for the impact they deliver. They can take a plain look, (shirt and pants.) and make it look like you spent all day getting ready. This little wrap can be as dressy or as casual as you want. I have went very casual, just wearing it with shorts, but it would look wonderful over a dress. I may try that for my next look.

Fringe Kimono: Cream | Pink in a Plus | Gray 50 IS NOT OLD | DOG DAYS AGELESS STYLE LINK-UPThe bright turquoise tank top is one that is probably 3 or 4 years old. I don’t wear it real often, even though it is a gorgeous top. The design you see, is tiny little beads, and they scratch your arm when you move. Having a cardigan or another top over the tank, helps keep the beads from rubbing, but you still occasionally feel them. This top is from dressbarn, which surprised me, because I don’t buy a lot from that store.

Turquoise Tank: Sequins | Similar | Plus50 IS NOT OLD | DOG DAYS AGELESS STYLE LINK-UPI guess you get to see my new nails sooner than I thought. I went with a french manicure, there is an added silver line, that you can’t see. I have on my turquoise bracelet, and four bangles (Frances, Halsey, Odette, and  Skye) from Plunder. I thought the bangles looked good with the fringe kimono, kind of the boho look. I have an August contest running with Plunder. EVERYONE who places an order from Plunder through me in the month of August, will be entered in for a $25.00 Plunder gift certificate. You can buy a 14.00 bracelet, and you will be entered into the contest. To shop with me, here is the website: http://www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens  Try copying and pasting this in the address line, and hopefully it will work. If not, then type in my stylist number 241007 in the stylist box at checkout. I have started an online party, and there is a dropdown box where you can choose Tania’s P Party at checkout also. 50 IS NOT OLD | DOG DAYS AGELESS STYLE LINK-UPI haven’t worn these Marc Fisher sandals in a while, but I thought they went really well with this outfit. I wasn’t sure I would like the gold details with this look, but I actually do. These were comfortable to walk in, and I just didn’t want to wear heels today. It is nice to have a dressier pair of sandals as a alternative to heels. 50 IS NOT OLD | DOG DAYS AGELESS STYLE LINK-UPJust because you have not had your laugh for the day, I am including this picture. What on earth was I doing? I think I was trying to show you the fringe on the kimono, but I look like I am sleep walking. Haha These are the types of photos that you NEVER get to see. For every photo you see, I have probably trashed three. So, take lots of photos, you’ll get one or two that you can live with. Lol! The shorts I have on are what I consider a dress pair. They are a really dark denim style, and the cuff gives them that dressier look. I tried to read in the label the brand, but they went so fancy with the writing, I couldn’t make it out. It looks like One Lane.

Tania, you are too funny! And a woman after my own heart! I love learning the history behind phrases and words (in fact, I was planning an entire post about my favorite phrases ever)! And if you hadn’t given me that lesson, I was about to look it up myself! Ha.

I am loving that kimono. And your silly picture is actually quite adorable! You are fabulous!

I think this would be a great style for the music festival! Because we live just 15 minutes north of Nashville, we go to the CMA Fest every year. Yes – you will see lots of boots and short dresses but your outfit would be perfect too!

    1. Thanks Melissa! I was thinking this type outfit would work. Be sure to enter for the tickets (6) that I will be giving away. I think I will announce the contest this Friday.

  7. I have the exact shorts and purchased them at Ross last year. I love the kimono look. Even though I am very short, I still wear them. You are fabulous at usual Tania!

  8. Great look for hot summer days! I love your kimono – such pretty colors & fun fringe! I just bought a kimono and love how cool it keeps me when I wear it over a tank!

  9. TANIA, WHEN I WAS GROWING UP, A CHILD, LIVING AT HOME….MY PARENTS TOLD ME THAT THE DOG DAYS OF SUMMER WAS WHEN THE WEATHER WAS SO DRY & SO VERY HOT THAT YOU HAD TO BE CAREFUL OF THINGS SUCH AS YOU MENTIONED & ALSO HAD TO BE VERY CAREFUL OF RABID DOGS & ANIMALS…..BECAUSE OF THE HEAT, IT MADE IT MORE POSSIBLE FOR DISEASES IN ANIMALS ALSO…..FOOD FOR THOUGHT?? THE OLDER FOLKS KNEW A LOT…THEY WATCHED THE SKY & KNEW ABOUT STORMS & WHAT THE WEATHER WAS GOING TO DO…THEY HAD THE SEASONS & THINGS THEY WATCHED FOR TOO & SO MUCH MORE…….I HAVE A LOT OF INDIAN BLOOD IN ME FROM THEM & THEY KNEW A LOT OF THINGS THAT THEY LEARNED FROM THE ENVIRONMENT, THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THIS…….THANK YOU FOR YOUR SITE & ALL YOU DO..LOVE YOUR LOOK TODAY & ALWAYS…..GOD BLESS & MUCH LOVE, DEB…..

    1. I agree with you Deb. Some of our older folks knew how to live off the land, and watching the signs is part of that process. I too have some Indian blood in me, I am just not sure how much.

This kimono was a favorite last time you featured it. I was able to find one similar. You are right, it really adds to so many outfits. From head to toe, great look. The cuff and tab really make the shorts. You look cool and comfy for a “dog day of summer”!

    1. I am glad you were able to find a similar kimono:) They are fabulous!

  12. Cute look Tania – adore your fringe kimono – might have to get one of those 😉
    Have a fabulous day!
