50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATE 4TH OF JULYHappy 4th of July everyone!!! How do you celebrate the 4th of July? Do you have a cook out, or celebrate with fireworks? I have seen pictures of some very creative cooks, who have all kinds of 4th of July cakes that look delicious! I am not that creative or that good of a cook. Joe was just encouraging Sandy, my BFF, to start her own cooking blog. She is a wonderful cook! I told her I would help her to get it up and running, so if that happens, you will be the first to know.50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATE 4TH OF JULYOne of my favorite memories of the 4th of July happened when I was just a kid. This memory involves the lake, like a lot of my childhood memories. This memory also involves the police, which I am thankful is not in a lot of my memories. Hahaha50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATE 4TH OF JULYWe were camping in a facility that had a “NO FIREWORKS” policy. I bet you can see where this story is going. Anyway, someone in our group, who I will not mention, brought fireworks and proceeded to put on a show for us kids. We thought it was the best thing ever, however the game warden was not as amused. He showed up and wanted to know who was setting off the fireworks. Nobody volunteered to take the blame, so he picked my dad and his best friend as the guilty parties. Dad and his friend, (the same one who helped rescue the skunks) did not like being the accused, and decided to fight the ticket in court. They showed up, and it was a case of “he said, she said,” but the judge found them GUILTY! The judge said he could tell they were guilty by the way my dad held the paper in his hand. WHAT!!! Dad’s friend paid the fine, but Daddy still refused. He decided to appeal, so he typed up this really fancy letter and sent it to the Appeals Court. It read: “I appeal this decision.” HAHA! The Appellate Court sided with my dad! 50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATE 4TH OF JULYI love this tunic, I just bought it the other day at the QVC overstock store. I took my DIL who was visiting from Tennessee to see the store, and I bought this Susan Graver tunic. I don’t own a lot of red items, and I thought this would be adorable with skinny jeans, or leggings. I looked on QVC, but couldn’t find this top. That doesn’t mean it is not there, it means I didn’t see it. Haha

Red Tunic: Similar | Similar | Plus50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATE 4TH OF JULYI wanted to get at least one more wear from my red-white-&-blue jewelry that Kay & Star sent me. I have loved this set, and it was not something I would have normally picked out. It just goes to show you, that you need to branch out and try new things. I have worn this before here, and my DIL has worn it on her blog as well. I hope you took advantage of the discount Kay & Star offered on their red-white-&-blue jewelry, and bought you a couple of pieces. I also threw on a couple of plunder bracelets, the Darius  and the Bonny bracelet. The initial necklace is one that I bought years ago, I believe I bought it from Jane.com. If you order from that site, remember the clothing is cut more for a “junior,” so I usually order a size up. Even then, the arms are sometimes too small for me. I usually only order items that I know don’t have to be a certain size, I don’t think you can return the items.50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATE 4TH OF JULYI chose to wear a pair of navy leggings with the tunic. I have them styled as capri leggings, but they are just normal leggings. I have them “hiked” up to look like capris. So if you have some leggings from the fall, just push them up under your top, and no one will ever know the difference. Unless you tell the entire internet, like I just did. LOL! I bought mine from Classy Closet, but you can buy them at Target or Wal-Mart, and I even just saw them on the Jane.com website.

Navy Capri Leggings: Similar | Similar50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATE 4TH OF JULYSince my tush is covered, I decided to give you the dreaded backside shot. You can see this tunic is plenty long, it could even be worn as a dress, I don’t know if I will, but it could. Gracious, my butt looks three football fields wide. Why do you gurls want the back shot???50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATE 4TH OF JULYI like these navy t-strap sandals by Tommy Hilfiger. Navy is a neutral, so they can go with almost anything. I have tried to make an effort to wear more flats, since I know a lot of you cannot wear heels. This are pretty comfortable, but there is no cushioning in the bottom of the shoe.

T-Strap Sandals: Similar | Similar50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATE 4TH OF JULYMy favorite memory of the 4th is about fireworks, but I want to remember that today is all about freedom. That freedom did not come cheap, and a lot of lives were lost to bring that freedom to all of us. I want to thank everyone who is/was a veteran, and ask everyone to say a quick prayer for those who have sacrificed so much for our country.

Eat a hotdog for me, and go watch some fireworks. If not in person, I am sure you will be able to find some on television.

Love you gurls!!!

    Hi Tania,
I love your posts! I have recently changed jobs that requires me to dress business casual and unfortunately have had some stomach issues and lost a great deal of weight, so I have had to purchase quite a few clothes. I don’t have an unlimited budget for clothes, so a lot of my looks come from thrift stores, goodwill. Like you good quality pieces are a must, and accessories make the outfit. I look forward to your posts for daily inspiration ☺️
My July 4th memories also include: Dad, fireworks and the lake…such similar memories for us gurls?
Thanks again for the great fashion
    Debra

    1. WOW! Somebody finally likes my attitude! Lol!!!

You actually can return items bought from jane.com. You have to deal directly with the vendor you purchased from and, as you may imagine, the ease of doing so varies widely from shop to shop. Combining that with the sizing issues (often the largest thing offered equates to a 10-12…say what?!), I pretty much do as you do and only order “sure things.” I have really gotten some deals off there, though. Thanks too for styling flats. My feet have issues and I can’t wear heels. 🙁

    1. Thanks Bonnie. I figured you might could return, but it would be a hassle. I think the same when buying from Zulily. I am like you, I stick with the “sure things.”

  4. Love this outfit! I really enjoy your blog! Happy 4th!

  5. Love this outfit!!! Happy 4th!!! ??????

  6. A very nice patriotic outfit. I like the leggings. We need them today, unusually chilly here in Ohio! Happy 4th??

  7. Great blog! Just an FYI, QVC items almost always have a tag inside with the item number listed. Apparel starts with the letter A followed by numbers.

    Happy 4th!

  8. You look adorable today!
