Can You Keep A Secret?
Another version of Jeans and Pearls. As you can tell, I like pairing the two together. Pearls can dress up any outfit, and I always conjure up Jackie O in my mind when I put on a strand. Never mind that she never wore pearls like these, I like to think that she would have approved. I have on a British Khaki jacket on that I picked up at T J Maxx. This is one of the season’s hot items. The olive green color is everywhere. Here is a similar one.
I even decided to put on a vintage pearl ring. The great thing about a lot of vintage rings is that they are adjustable. You can wear the ring on any finger. This purse is old, old, old. Look at the wear on the edges. I don’t mind at this at all, I like to think of it as character. How cute are these boots? These are Marc Fisher’s and I got them at the QVC overstock store in town for $25.00. Yep, that’s right, $25.00!!! Here they are on sale at QVC, just not for $25.00.
High waist jeans. Do you like them or hate them? Isn’t high waisted just another name for the dreaded “Mom Jean”? I thought that everybody at work would really notice them, but not one person said a thing. I even tucked in the shirt, even thought that is not a trend that I look forward to returning. My tummy area prefers to be camouflaged.
Now for the secret. I have a blog, but since you are reading this, you probably already know that. The thing is….I didn’t tell anybody I knew about the blog, except my sister who had to help me with Wordpress. Not my husband, children, mother, or friends. I was afraid they would make fun of me. I had decided that if I was still blogging come January 1st, that would be my New Year’s Resolution. I should have known my sister could not contain herself. She told my mother and daughter-in-law during a recent visit, and they told two friends, and so on. My husband had been noticing pictures of me, and he knows I hate having my picture taken, so he was really confused. He finally asked point blank, “what are you doing”? I fessed up, and he was actually relieved. I’m not sure what he thought I was doing. LOL! Here is the funny thing, my children know. I’m not sure when they found out, but they know. I decided to tell my daughter and see how she would react. I was talking to her last night, she lives in Alaska, and told her to go to this blog called 50. That’s all I got to say, she finished my sentence. “Is not old.com”, she said. I was stunned. How did she already know? Seems like one day she was on Instagram, and my picture popped up as someone she might like to follow. I think it was her time to be stunned. She said she couldn’t figure out why someone would be using my picture. She went to the blog, and figured out what I was doing, and also the fact that I had kept it a secret. She of course remedied that, by calling her two brothers, her best friends from here, and her friends in Alaska. My three angels then came up with an elaborate plan to “call me out” at Christmas, when we would all be together. Now that my little darlings know about the blog, I am now free to include them in it. Haha, looks like I am going to get the last laugh. And by the way, secrets always have a way of coming out.

I don’t know why you wouldn’t want your family/friends to know…your blog is great! Girl, you need to SHOUT IT LOUD, SHOUT IT PROUD:) I get good ideas from you so thanks for sharing!
I love this outfit and your blog! Funny story about your family. Your really good at this fashion stuff so I hope you continue 🙂
Hi, just found your blog through Pinterest, and I like it! I want to subscribe, but when I click on the email option, I see “subscribe to Daylight Savings Time reminder”.?????
Thanks for any help!
Dianna, I signed up for you. You should receive a confirmation email soon. Look in the junk folder if you don’t see one. Thanks for following 🙂
“Mom” jeans used to be my favorite and I mourned their demise. I’m convinced that they are why I never developed a bad “muffin top” when I gained weight (I’ve since lost). I don’t know what I would think of them now….I haven’t ventured to try any yet, but I might.
Very pretty. I can’t do pearls. I bought a few and just can’t do them. I wanted to! I just turned 50 one month ago, and no one believes me, they think I’m 30 or something. Maybe I have to wait or find some chocolate pearls. Anyway, love the earrings and the hair do and the whole look. Its really good on you.
Oh girl, I love this look & so wish I could wear jeans to work! I’ve been trying to come up w/a workable alternative I could wear tomorrow! I know this post is old but I hadn’t seen it yet & was going back thru some older ones cause I love them all! I love the tucked in white shirt w/pearls!
You have the most adorable jewelry, style & look! I always LOVE everything about each day’s post & look forward to them all! And it’s helped me w/my style too! This outfit rocks!
Just found your blog and really enjoy. Love the mixing of vintage and new.
Thanks MJ. I love it when I can incorporate some of my vintage items.
Just found your blog yesterday. I love it. Turning 50 in 2016 so the title works for me. Love your style. Where do you buy the pearl bracelets and necklace you are wearing?
Thanks!
Thanks for visiting me Lisa. Most of my pearls come from either a vintage fashion show, (my mother has them), or I buy a lot from Cato’s. Cato’s always has a lot of pearl accessories and at really affordable prices.
Love the outfit and your blog. I found you on WIWW
Love pearls and jeans too 🙂
Thanks, Melissa.
Hi Tania…..saw your blog a few weeks ago and love, love, love your style. You put outfits together that really work for you and the colors are beautiful. Thanks for showing that over 50 can be beautiful and stylish. Keep up the good work. I will be following you for more ideas! P.S. LOVE the large grass “S” behind you!
Thanks Monica! I will take all the good comments I can get. The S was something I made for my son’s wedding over the summer. I liked it, so I decided to put it out on my porch. I think I am going to have to redo it though, I didn’t make it out of thick enough plywood.
So glad to find your blog – we have similar hair, same LV Noe (they just get more beautiful as they age!)
I have also kept my blog a “secret” ~ it’s my hobby to have fun with.
I am now your newest follower & would love for you to visit my blog:

All the best, Mimi
We are blog sister’s!!! I’m on my way to your’s right now????
I am so glad I found your blog yesterday! I am just loving your style and you are inspiring me to create more outfits. I just now pulled out my rarely worn leopard belt. You’re like my new “fairy godmother” when she waives her magic wand and transforms Cinderella’s plain outfit into something much more fashionable. 🙂
Thanks Lisa! I am glad you found me too???? I love the idea of being a fairy godmother, I need to find me a pair of wings.????
Sooooo, I am going to venture out to some of the thrift stores around here and see what I find! You have challenged me now. Lucky you with those outlets for QVC and HSN. I am not that lucky. Love the jacket on you. I have been looking for a military style vest but haven’t found one that I love enough to purchase. Looking forward to your next outfit.
Love the entire outfit… pearls and jeans just too cute. I, too, love pearls and jeans.
To me, Mom Jeans have more to do with the way the back pockets sit, and how the back thigh area fits. High waistband, yes, but the back side has a lot to do with the dreaded Mom Jean look.
Nice outfit. I like the blouse paired with the olive jacket. It’s a good color combination for you. And I loooooove old purses. Come sometime and have a look in my closet. 🙂
Love your style… you make it look so easy. I, too, love pearls with jeans.
I love your jacket! I like “Mom Jeans” to help keep my tummy tucked in, but my problem is my hips and butt are very small in comparison to my tummy area, and so it’s hard to find mom jeans that are big enough in the waist line, but smaller in the butt area. So I end up sticking with the low rise. Your ‘secret blog’ story is so funny. I’m the same way. I don’t mind opening up my entire life to complete strangers, but I don’t want to do it with anyone I know so I keep my blog separate from FB.
I think we don’t mind being judged by strangers, but when it comes to family and friends, that is a completely different story. I am on Facebook, but I have been careful to not “like” or “share” anything that would show up on my friends pages. Of course, that is what I also thought about Instagram. lol
I just love how you put everything together! I’m 56 years young but found that when putting a cute outfit together was tough at this age because I don’t want to look like my daughter yet not my mother!! Lol!! Thankyou for being so helpful!!!
I am wearing a lot of the khaki color this season and purchased two cargo type vests that I wear OFTEN. I had to stop buying all of the khaki items I saw and loved or my closet would start looking like an army surplus store. LOL
Our children have known about my blog for a long time. I have had several blogs over the past 10 years, but not just fashion. I blog about everything, and it keeps the family in touch with us. We are in Virginia and they are all in other states, so it’s a communication device for us… xo
Great looking boots!
Oh my goodness, 10 years!!! That is incredible. I have just set my goal to last till the end of the year, we’ll see from there. I’m in Virginia and I have one son in Tennessee, a daughter in Alaska, and one son right next door.
I love the look of the hard against the soft and I totally get that nothing comes between a southern girl and her pearls!!

I love that saying, Shellie. I may just have to steal that????
I love everything about this outfit. Mixing the pearls with the casual jacket – I am going to copy this look! Thanks for inspiring me!
Thanks Lisa! That is a great compliment????
