Jeans are what I wear most of the time. I don’t care if it is winter or summer, you will still find me wearing jeans. There are a lot of different styles of jeans, and the prices can range drastically. I have jeans in my closet from all different price points because I judge jeans by their fit, not the price tag or brand.

I am 5’6″ tall, and I weigh 148 lbs for sizing reference. I usually wear an 8-10 in jeans, an M-L in tops, and a size 9 in shoes.

These Slim Fit Trouser Jeans by Scoop are a pair that I love. They are in a color called Williston, which is between dark and medium. These jeans are lightweight, so they will be perfect for both Spring and Summer. They have a slight stretch, but they don’t seem to get loose and baggy.

The only issue that I could find with these jeans is that they have slant pockets which can sometimes pucker. I like the slant pockets if they don’t pucker, and I find them flattering. I’m wearing a size 8 in these jeans, and they fit me well.

The Slim Fit Trouser Jeans by Scoop even fit me well in the back. There is no saggy butt with these jeans, which is hard to find. There are several colors available, and the jeans are only $26.00.

One of the latest trends in jeans is boyfriend and girlfriend jeans. Skinny jeans are not the favorite style; they have been replaced by straight, slim, or relaxed jeans. If you want to stay modern-looking, then try the latest fashions. You probably don’t want to purchase high-priced items when trying the latest trends since they may not stay in style very long.

These High Rise Slim Boyfriend Jeans by Time and Tru have slight distressing but no huge holes. I like distressed jeans, but I hear a lot of comments from ladies who can’t embrace this trend. If this trend is not for you, check out the other jeans below. However, for you ladies who are willing to try distressing, this is a great pair since they also incorporate the relaxed look.

When I read that jeans are a boyfriend or girlfriend cut, I will usually size down. However, these jeans said “slim” boyfriend, so I ordered my usual size 8. I would have preferred them to be slightly tighter, so I needed a size smaller.

Here is the view from the back. You can see that the jeans are too loose, but I do like the slight distressing on the back pockets. I am wearing the medium wash, but they are available in different washes.

Flared jeans are also trending this year, so I wanted to try the Bootcut Step Hem pair by Sofia Jeans. Of the four pairs of jeans, these are probably my least favorite. I like the color and the fit of the jeans, but I’m not wild about the step hem.

The color of these jeans is Ludlow, and I like this shade. I like the look of these jeans from the front, and I like the raw hem, but I’m not wild about the look from the side.

I’m wearing a size 8, and these jeans fit really well. They don’t give you the saggy butt look, but they aren’t too tight either.

The step hem is too drastic for me, and I would probably cut off the part that is handing in the back. For me, these jeans are a miss even though I love the way they fit.

You’ve heard me say that platform shoes are trending this year. Everything from the 90s is back again, including big flare jeans and platform shoes. These neutral Flatform Wedge Sandals are different from anything I’ve seen. They have a memory foam insole, so the footbed is comfortable. But, they cut into my foot on the top when I walked, and I’m not sure if they would loosen up. I wanted to love them, but the material seemed too stiff. I’m wearing my usual size 9 in these slides.

These High Rise Slim Crop Jeans have a released hem look. I love that style hem since they look like a pair you’ve had forever. For you ladies with long legs, you might not be a fan of this look since that is what you wore as you were growing up.

These jeans are a great alternative to wearing shorts this summer. The cropped length is cute and looks great with sandals, flats, or heels. I saw SLIM in the description, so I ordered a size larger than I’ve been wearing lately. That was a mistake since they are too baggy on me. I’m wearing a 10, but I needed a size 8 instead.

Sizing up will give you the girlfriend look, so if the loose look is what you prefer, then order up. I think the jeans run true to size otherwise, and I would order your normal size.

The black T-Shirt Bodysuit by Time and Tru gets a huge A+ from me. I have a long torso, and this bodysuit is plenty long for me. I hate it when the snaps are hard to reach, and these are great. The bodysuit has a built-in tucked look that looks relaxed and perfectly draped. I’m wearing a size large, and it gives me plenty of room without looking oversized.

I’m also wearing a tan Braided Belt in an S/M. I wasn’t sure what size I would need, so I ordered the tan and black belts in different sizes.

The black Braided Belt is a size large. I like this style of the belt since you don’t have holes and can decide where to latch it. The S/M is okay if I wear a high-rise pair of pants, but if I wore a mid to low-rise pair of pants, I would need a large size.

These Time and Tru Sneakers remind me of a high-end pair of sneakers I own but at a much lower price point. These sneakers are comfortable, and the neutral colors will go with anything. The sneakers also come in wide widths, and at under $20, these are a great price point.

I enjoyed your post. I live in a small town and Walmart is 30 minutes away. Inevitably while waiting on a prescription, I’ll browse the women’s dept. just yesterday I found an adorable Sofia Vergara top for 24.00. I ended up getting both color’s, pink and white.
I’m surprised that anyone that looks great in skinny jeans would toss them out. they are universally flattering if sized correctly, many wear them to tight, to small. I love my skinny jeans, they don’t fit like a second skin, and for my figure are very flattering. They will always be my favorite jean, but the trouser fit is my second go to and I enjoy all the other styles shared here. Thanks, you look great!

  2. I got the trouser jeans and they fit great and are long enough for my 5′ 7 1/4″ height! Really cute look and I like that they’re a lighter weight.

  6. I don’t personally care for the first pair of jeans , more so the cut on the hem. I do love the last 2 pairs and plan on going to Walmart for some trying on!
Their both winners in my book. The black tee looks like a mans tee, no shaping too it, not flattering.
And you do look great Tania! Keep it up, your inspiring us who need a little inspiration!
We would love an update on your daily diet and exercise routine!

  13. I got the released hem crops and I wore them for the first time this weekend. I love them! So cute, comfortable and stylish yet they didn’t break the bank. I love shopping Walmart for clothes.

  14. Thank you so much for this article. I am trying to clear out /clean out my closet, getting rid of visual clutter and extras. This email has convinced me that my skinny jeans need to go, but I am keeping, the straight, boyfriend and bootcuts, because they are flattering to my body shape. Thank you for this article because it was the one that pushed the skinny jeans over the edge into the donate/resale bag. Have a great week!
