Fashion Blogger, 50 Is Not Old, is Thanksgiving ready with this colorful plaid wrap, lilac cowl neck sweater, and olive corduroy skinny pants

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and I think that this outfit will be a perfect outfit for you to wear. Before giving you all of the details, I have to tell you a little story about how my anniversary went this weekend. If you saw my post last Saturday, then you know that Joe and I were celebrating our 34th anniversary and that we didn’t have any major plans. All I planned to do was to bake him his favorite lemon pound cake, and he was picking up food from one of our favorite restaurants.

Everything was going smoothly, and I was thrilled to see that I had all of the ingredients needed to bake the cake without having to go to the store. Once I got the cake completely mixed, I poured it into a brand new bundt pan I recently bought. I set the timer, and then I started fluffing some Christmas garland that I had purchased. The garland was heavily flocked with snow, so I stepped outside to fluff it so that I wouldn’t have snow all over the house. I fluffed a couple of the garlands, and then I went back inside to check on the cake even though I knew that it still had 20 more minutes to bake. When I walked in the door, I smelled something burning, and when I turned the corner, I saw smoke. Yikes! I quickly opened the oven door, and smoke came boiling out.

Evidently, the “new” bundt pan was not as large as my previous one. When the cake started to rise, it spilled out of the pan and fell onto the aluminum foil that I use to line the bottom of the oven. The over spillage had burned to a crisp and was the culprit for all of the smoke. I yanked out the aluminum foil and cleaned up the mess before putting the cake back in the oven. Thankfully the cake didn’t have a smoky taste, but it took me hours to get the smoke out of the house. Joe walked in the door and immediately said, “did you burn the cake?” Lol!

I am sure that you have begun to wonder if I have forgotten how to wear color. This gorgeous, lilac cowl neck sweater will make up for all of the dark outfits that I’ve been wearing. I immediately fell in love with this color, and I love how it has pinks and blue mixed into the fabric. The neckline is large and oversized for a statement look, and I love the ribbing on the cuffs, neck, and hem. This tunic length will be great for wearing with leggings, and your hiney will be covered. I am wearing a medium in the sweater, but I wish I had ordered a large instead. If I wear this for Thanksgiving, I want to have some extra room in the belly area. Lol!

This plaid wrap is drop-dead gorgeous!!! I absolutely love the colors of this wrap, and it looks great with the sweater. I love the versatility of a wrap since it can be thrown over your shoulder or belted for different looks. Sometimes though, I prefer to have sleeves like a kimono instead of it being loose and open. All I do to create sleeves is to put a quick seam up each side, and my problem is solved.

I thought that you might like to see the material and colors up close.

These corduroy high rise skinny pants are a beautiful shade of olive. They are more green in person than they look in this photo, but they are brownish-green and not bright green. As soon as I saw the two of these items together, I knew that I had to take a photo. The pants match the stripe in the wrap, and I hadn’t even noticed when I ordered them. These pants fit great, and I love how much stretch they have in them. They are very comfortable, and that would be a good thing for Thanksgiving. Lol! I am wearing my usual size 10, and they are perfect!

Several of you have mentioned that you don’t wear corduroy for one reason or another, so I thought I would give you another option. I honestly would prefer a pair of skinny jeans since the top is wider, but I just got these bootcut jeans in, and I wanted to take a photo of them. Maybe the bootcut helps balance out the wrap’s width, and I would have probably liked them better if they had been longer. These jeans are a 31″ inseam, and I prefer a 32″ or longer. The jeans are almost sold out already, so I’ll link to a few other bootcut jeans.

These navy loafers are super cute, especially with the silver bar that is a great detail. The loafers are perfect for this fall, and they look good with skinny jeans also. I am wearing my usual size 9, and they fit me perfectly.

These suede kitten heels are a great neutral, and they help to elongate your legs. When you wear a pointy toe shoe, they help your legs look longer when makes you look taller and thinner. I can use all of the help that I can get, and I appreciate anything that makes me look thinner. Lol! I am wearing a size 8 1/2 because I have found that I need to size down when wearing shoes from J. Crew.

I don’t know if you’ve been checking out all of the early Black Friday sales that Walmart has been rolling out, but you really should be. I was on there last night working on another post that will go live soon, but I had to show you a couple of the items that caught my eye.

Whoops, I almost forgot the jewelry, which really makes this outfit. I am only wearing two pieces of jewelry, but both of them make a big statement. The large KAIA earrings for not heavy even though they are fat are wide. The multi-chain Ryder necklace, however, is fairly heavy. I love all of the different size chains and mixed metals. It makes it easier to mix silver and gold when you wear this necklace.

Beautiful outfit. Love it with the jeans & navy shoes. Had to link over to Walmart and order that pretty sweater in 4 colors, and went with the large thanks to your comment. Love long, soft sweaters that aren’t too heavy and warm.

That wrap is GORGEOUS. The colors are fabulous. I love wearing things like this and have found that Iike the ones with sleeves better so I’m not constantly fighting it. I never thought to sew a seam in it (and by “sew a seam in it” I mean have my mother do it haha. I haven’t sewn in years and don’t even have a machine). The cake story sounds like something that would happen to me!

Happy Anniversary! Cute, cute outfit. I might have to order the plaid wrap. Also, I want to thank you for taking the time to photograph different poses in your outfit. It certainly gives me a better idea how the outfit truly looks. Too many influencers choose one pose, usually with one leg crooked and the opposite shoulder dropped and it just looks weird and unnatural. Thank you for the time you put into your photo shoots. It is much appreciated.
