Gray Cashmere TurtleneckI don’t know if it is all of the testosterone that men have running through their veins, but have you noticed how they all seem to be very sure of themselves? Women tend to second guess themselves and are way more insecure than men, or at least I think that is the case. I know that Joe has enough confidence running through his system for both of us. Take the incident that happened the other day….
Cashmere Turtleneck in GrayYears ago, I used to wear readers so that I could see up close. I know you are going to find this hard to believe, but I wanted fancy readers, and I had them in multiple colors. I found a company called Jimmy Crystal in New York that had readers with Swarovski crystals on them. I haven’t worn readers in years, but I still have 15-20 pairs of them lying around the house. Joe has always borrowed my glasses whenever we went out to dinner, and he has some of my glasses in his truck. The other day he went to the bank, and the young lady kept giving him the eye. Being a cocky male, he was sure that she was checking him out and thought he was cute. Once he left and got back in his truck, he looked in the mirror and noticed that he as wearing a pair of my glasses. I am showing you the glasses that he was wearing so you can decide for yourself what the girl was thinking.sparkly glasses I am still laughing at him. ? But, the best part is, he is laughing too. Lol!
Cashmere and PearlsI like to splurge once a year on a cashmere sweater. I love having beautiful things, but I can quickly get bored when I have something for years. So, I will pick a solid color or a classic style if I am going to splurge. You can’t go wrong with this pale gray color, and I like how the turtleneck is not tight. I hate tight turtlenecks that feel like they are choking me, I will continuously tug at them. If you are paying a lot for an item, you want to make sure that you can wear it in multiple ways. So, I decided to take this top and show you a couple of different looks. For sizing purposes, I am wearing a large. (PS: all the links will be at the bottom of the post)
Cashmere Turtleneck and Long CardiganAdding this gray Ombre animal print cardigan to the turtleneck is a great way to make you look thinner. The cardigan brings your eye inward toward the middle, and that creates the illusion of being slimmer. I need all of the help in that department that I can get. For those of you who have been hesitant to wear animal print because it is too bold, you will like the subtle muted print on this sweater. For sizing purposes, I am wearing a large.
Gray Cashmere Turtleneck and CardiganI kept the same skinny jeans on for all of the different style looks. That way, you can see how simply changing ONE item can make a huge difference in the overall look. I wear these Kut From The Kloth Diana jeans all of the time. They fit me great, and they have just enough give to them, but not so much that they look baggy. They run true to size, and I am wearing my usual size 10.
Gray CardiganI haven’t mentioned my jewelry yet. I am wearing a gorgeous Pearl necklace with a decorative clasp called the Brindy. The clasp is antiqued with crystals, and it looks great worn to the side. The Torilyn bracelet features seven rows of pearls and has a magnetic clasp. It is currently sold out, so keep an eye out for it to come back in stock. The Shalia pearl studs earrings are a go-to for me. These are oversized, and they make a great statement. These can be worn with anything, from a casual style to dressy.
Red Blazer with Cashmere TurtleneckSince the Holiday season is here, I thought that adding a red blazer to the outfit would make it festive. This is simple yet elegant, and you could wear this to a casual Christmas party.
Red Blazer and Gray CashmereMy black ankle boots are old, but I think they will last me the rest of this year. I like the pointed-toe style and the higher heel. Anytime that you wear a pointed toe shoe, it will help to elongate your legs. Longer-looking legs make you appear thinner. As you can tell, I am always looking for ways to appear thinner. Lol!Red BlazerCashmere Gray Turtleneck | Ombre Animal Print Cardigan | Kut From The Kloth Diana (style 1) | Kut From The Kloth Diana (style 2)

Love this new format. The three pictures right next to each other really show changing one thing really gives it a different look. I really like the red blazer for a pop of color. I just bought some black pointy boots my sons are giving me for Christmas! Just like you I like things hat help m look thinner!

  2. Ha ha ha, what a story! Such fun! I never owned a cashmere sweater. Should give it a try as I’m always cold.

  3. i love the outfits ! Red is my favorite . But, that story is the best. I’m laughing and it feels good. Can’t wait to share this with my husband. I agree… my husband’s confidence amazes me, as well.

I really like the new format and the cardigan! My “Christmas Gift Wish” would have to be an Amazon gift card.

    • My gift wish would be an amazon gift card to buy all the books I have on my wish list. ?

  5. I just read your old blog on My Neckglasses! I can’t wait to order some. I would like an Amazon gift card too!

  6. I love this story! I agree that men seem so much more confident. My husband wears my old readers too! I noticed he has my old red pair in his work bag!??

I like your new format. Everything looks great.

I have tried a couple of different cashmere sweaters, and they always itch. Have you ever had that problem? Have you found one that does not itch?

Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.

  7. Love the new format and Joes story. Oddly I received 2 posts today of the same content. Did you send twice?

    • Me too. Not a problem and certainly better than receiving none! It would hurt to miss a “Tanya” day ♥️

  8. Bigger isn’t always better….I am unable to view the full length pictures on my iPad without scrolling vertically. And take this for what it’s worth, but I am a stickler for backgrounds in photography and I find the scrollwork wall hanging in your pictures distracting. It looks like you have something growing from your shoulder. But the brick wall is on point. It adds texture without being busy. Good luck with your experimenting. Change always us to grow!

PS. if I was lucky enough to win something, I would love a Plunder GC

  9. My husband too wears my old readers…hot pink bright blue and red. He answered the door in the hot pink ones and wondered why the delivery guy looked at him kinda funny. I like the new format too! I don’t have an instagram acct. I guess I need to get with it.

I like the new format – it looks great! And I love when you show multiple ways to wear an item. The story about Joe was hilarious! I bet he’s fun to be around. As for my gift wish, Amazon gift cards always work for me. I have several books, movies and music on my wish list.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  10. I would love to win a $50 Talbot’s gift card to shop for some of the beautiful items you have been styling!

  11. Cute outfits! Funny story! Liking the new format. I would like a Facelift for Christmas jk keep up the good work!

  12. I like the new format a lot! I especially like that when I click on the link I am taken to a full size screen and not that little sidebar thing that has happened since the last Apple update. Very nice outfits. I wish I could wear cashmere but I am allergic ?

  13. The new format works great for me I like all 3 looks! It’s cool the way you can mix things up a bit and not feel like you’re wearing the same thing all the time. I like cashmere but it doesn’t really like me…they are itchy to me and sometimes the fiber from the sweater ends up in my contact lens…oh well, lol. Gift cards are the best! And that story about Joe is great…sounds like something my hubby would do, lol!

  14. I also like the new format. I do like the larger photos so i can see the details of the ensemble. I know this is over $50, but I think the perfect gift would be R&F lash boost!

  15. I love the new size of the photos and the outfits , especially the red blazer. It’s so holiday looking and I love it.
My gift wish would be a Visa gift card so I could treat myself to a pedicure. I had surgery reconstructing my ligaments a couple months ago and my feet are in need of some attention. ?

  16. Our first grandchild was born this year, and I would love a silver “H” (for Henry) charm to wear on the chain I already have!

I enjoy wearing cashmere but can no longer tolerate turtlenecks. I’m on the hunt for a v-neck in the same shade of gray.

I love the new format! Your three ways to wear cashmere is really helpful when styling classic pieces. I tend to buy the trendy items and forget to supplement my wardrobe with the classics! If I were to win your contest, this is what I would choose: https://www.amazon.com/Ru-Sweet-Leopard-Cardigan-Sweaters/dp/B07VG4MRSS/ref=sr_1_41?crid=BGT6LJ513CJY&dchild=1&keywords=leopard%2Bprint%2Bcoats%2Band%2Bjackets%2Bfor%2Bwomen&qid=1574346467&sprefix=leopard%2Bprint%2Bcoat%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-41&th=1&psc=1

  18. Love the new format, it’s much easier to compare! Wish my darling husband was still with us, never a dull moment, just like Joe! I would love any gift card, gifts are so special when you are alone! Love all your posts!

  19. I am having issues with the blog! Yikes! Yesterday I couldn’t leave a comment. Today I received 2 notifications; one from 50 is Not Old & another from Tania Stephens. Earlier after writing a lengthy response about the issue it disappeared! Can you control the number of pop ups? I look at the blog on my iPad and very often some of the pop ups just need a slight swish from a stray finger to send you to heaven knows where! Good luck! Love your daily (even 2 times a day!) blog!

Lol! Linda, I love that you love my (2x a day) blog! I am working hard to get the notifications down to just one, but thanks for being patient.

  20. I like the three photos side by side for a quick look BUT I like the larger photo better. Also on this post I had to ‘click’ a box to see the post and I don’t like that. Just opening the email and reading the post is better in my opinion. I like the links by the product vs. at the bottom. Hmmm, looks like I’m not that receptive to change? I’m sure I’ll adjust! Thank you and keep up the great posts!

Thanks for your feedback. I am not sure how to send my actual post in an email since it is a website. Giving the link via the click button is the easiest way to deliver you straight to the correct post. Thanks for understanding.

all very cute. i agree men seem to have more confidence. Mine certainly does.

  22. These are all such great looks, the turtleneck is so versatile and the gray color is perfect! Funny story with your hubby and those reading glasses!

I agree with that most men are always so confident and sure about themselves. And it’s funny I told my husband a few weeks ago how men seem to be look like they are ready to leave the house when they wake up, me – I need to spend too much time in front of the mirror before I feel “presentable” LOL, and I don’t even wear a lot of make up!

  23. Robin Curtis Staley Reply

I am falling out of my chair laughing at Joe. Great story!!!

  24. If I were to win $50 for my Christmas wish, it would be for a new watch!! I look forward to your post every day!!

  25. What a hilarious Joe story!!! Those look like Elton John glasses!!!!!!!! Thanks for these helpful outfit ideas!

  26. Your Joe is a hoot!
Today’s looks are so ME! I mostly wear jeans when going somewhere & I love how dressy they can look. I have many tops & several jackets & sweaters so I can make lots of comfy, pretty outfits. (And I’m always cold so layers are great.)

  27. Like some of the other ladies. I received two posts today. I love the red blazer.

Sharolyn, I am trying to fix the issue of duplicate emails. I am using a new service now, and I am trying to turn off the old service. UGH!

Oh my word!!!! I am still laughing over Joe and “his” glasses. I swear all men are the same….my husband wears my readers as well. Like yours they have jewels or are various shades of pink, yellow or blue. I just shake my head and say – I promise to “take him home” to the people who look at him like he’s crazy. LOL. I would love a gift certificate to Plunder Jewelry or credit towards some Lash Boost. ?. Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!!

  29. I love the new look of your blog! Especially the preview in email. Makes me more likely to click to the actual post?

  30. I would love to win a $50.00 Talbot’s gift card to use towards purchasing the grey ombré animal print sweater. I love it and I really like Talbot’s and the quality of their clothing.

  31. Love the Joe story. Perhaps the person thought she was helping Sir Elton John! These are great looks. I need to invest in one of the longer cardigans. I am not having any trouble reading the blog on my computer tonight. And a gift $50 and under would be that beautiful pearl necklace you are wearing. If I don’t comment later, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your lovely family.

  32. I would love a Starbucks gift card so I can indulge in my chai tea latte obsession

I would love to hear from YOU!
