I was thrilled to see so many positive responses and comments on yesterday’s post. If you did not see that post, then you need to check it out (HERE) because the comments were terrific! I thought that it was great seeing how all of you had to concentrate on what you LIKED about your body, instead of the normal grumble of things that we wish we could change. There are a lot of things that I think I would want to change, but overall, I am satisfied with what I have.
However, my sweet granddaughter didn’t do me any favors over the weekend when it comes to my body. It was bedtime, so she and I had gotten in bed, and we were going to watch a movie on my computer. I was loving on her, and she went to hug me when all at once she said, “NeeNee, why do your arms feel so funny?” Then she proceeded to poke me in my upper arms while giving me a strange look. “NeeNee, your arms feel like jello!” Well, alright, then! That is a way to win friends and influence enemies.
Yes, my arms jiggle, wave, and flap in the wind. My arms also are full of love, hugs, and made for lifting others up. Could I do more to make then toned, defined, and firm? Oh, HECK, yes! But, I am not going to stress because they are like jello…I happen to like jello. Lol!
Okay, how many of you are looking at my arms? Hahaha! Even though I have jello arms (thanks Emersyn), I am still going to wear sleeveless tops. Don’t let your “less than firm” arms keep you from enjoying a fashion that you like. Wouldn’t you know that I ordered in lots of sleeveless tops when it decided to have a cold spell? Y’all, it is 47 degrees here as I am taking these photos. Lol! See, blogging is not all glamourous! This paisley print tie-front top is so pretty and striking. I love the crisp, bright colors, and the tie is flattering for most people. It draws your attention to the center of your body, and that helps to create a thinner look.
The thicker straps of this top are nice since they are wide enough for you to wear a regular bra. And, the deep v-neckline helps to give you a longer looking neck which is flattering. I am wearing a size 1 (8-10) in this top, and I think it fits me great, especially since it is flowy through the mid-section. HERE is the link to the top.
I added a new necklace to the look, not because it did anything for the outfit, but because it was a present for my birthday. I went to the mailbox before I started taking my photos, and I got a package in the mail. So, I opened it up, thinking that it was something that Joe had ordered. It was a Benjamin Franklin half-dollar from the year 1960. The package was from ETSY, and I was so confused. I kept thinking, “how did they know that I was turning 60?” Then, I turned the card over, and I saw that it was a present from my sister. Lol! Here is the funny thing, I have a “thing” for half-dollar coins. My dad gave me one when I was about twelve years old, and I still have it. I need to have it put in a coin holder necklace, but for now, it is in the safe deposit box for safekeeping.
The jewelry that I am wearing is the Easton geometric earrings and the Rue cuff bracelet. I didn’t think that I needed a lot of jewelry, but I wanted something to give the outfit a little pizzazz.
Speaking of pizzazz…these sandals have plenty of pizzazz! They are the season’s hottest sandal, and you can see why. They are cute and also edgy. The spikes aren’t for everybody, but they make a statement for those willing to take a walk on the wild side. Lol! I ordered these shoes back in February or March, but there was a long waitlist for them, so I just got them a couple of weeks ago. I think that they are in stock right now, but don’t delay if you like this look. HERE is the link, and I am wearing my usual size 9.
Cobalt blue is a color that I love and wear often. I had a pair of pants that I used to wear all of the time, but they were getting faded. So, when I came across this pair, I decided it was time to buy a new pair. These are the So Slimming Brigitte Side-Vent pair by Chico’s, and I am wearing a size 1 (8-10), but they are too big for me. I am still learning the size chart with Chico’s, but it doesn’t feel right for me to order a size 6 since I am actually a size 10. But, hey, who I am to argue with their method of sizing. This pant comes in 8 different colors, and all of them are on sale…except for…cobalt blue. LOL! What were the odds of that happening? HERE is the link to these pants, but remember to size down!
Okay, it is time to let the BIRTHDAY week begin!!! Honestly, I am not one that celebrates birthdays, mostly because I feel like they are just another day. But, I had decided to celebrate, but with a twist. I am not the one who is going to get the presents….you are!!!
YESTERDAYS WINNER of the Lilly Pulitzer sunglasses (HERE) was Kathryn. I’ll email you soon for your address.
This week I will be having a giveaway each day through Saturday. So, make sure that you sign up for my email subscription, and leave a comment about the topic of the day. Today’s topic is not letting age limit you! A lot of us use age as an excuse for not doing or not trying something new, but you are capable of doing so much more than you think. “I can’t learn, I’m too old, I am not young enough” are all EXCUSES! Let’s call it like it is! I started the blog at 55 years old, not knowing anything about blogging. Some people might say that I still don’t know anything about blogging, but that is alright. Lol!
So, to enter, subscribe to my email, and leave a comment telling me something that you have done that you thought you couldn’t. PLUS, if you hop on my Tuesday night ZOOM call at 8:00 ET, then you will get a surprise gift from me. (Message or comment for the ZOOM number) The prize for today is the pair of Easton earrings from Kendra Scott that I am wearing today, and the winner will be announced tomorrow.
7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
I think your arms look great. I always wanted to travel so I was getting ready to go with a group to Italy in May. You guessed it, It was cancelled. Maybe in the future I will get to do that again.
Happy Birthday Week !! I love your blog, look forward to it each day. I am currently studying to get my real estate license…at 61. I started a year ago & thought my memory wouldn’t allow me to pass. However, here I am pushing through !!
Happy May Birthday! I have always wanted to be able to draw…tried many times. I finally told myself to not give up. So after buying the suggested art supplies and watching YouTube and reading a great book on sketching, I am using the quarantine hours to practice. It’s amazing that I’m actually getting better! I also love that I can take it anywhere I go. Good thing I didn’t take up piano…it wouldn’t fit in the car! Love those earrings! Thanks for your blog…loyal reader for years!
Hi Tania! You are my favorite blog and you are giving away my favorite earrings on you! Happy Birthday! Yes Celebrate!
I went to college in my late 30’s and got a degree in Nursing and a license to be an RN by 40! I was on the deans list from the get go! With no baseline of ability, I really didn’t know if I had the academic ability to succeed. Very hard work did pay off! I have been a Hospice nurse, ICU and my final position was as a civilian nurse at a military base community hospital. I retired on February 29th and we moved from Virginia to north Georgia during the mitigation to retire near our kids (we lived in Lynchburg for 11 years, right down the road from you!). Nurses are style challenged from wearing scrubs all the time, so it would be the Best gift ever to win my favorite earrings, and btw, today is my 30th wedding anniversary too, seriously! What a happy story I would have to share with all my new neighbors when I wear those earrings!
Now for the most difficult accomplishment. My husband was activated with the Army in 2001, and spent 35 months straight overseas (with a two week leave each year). I honestly don’t know how I survived or our marriage survived. We spoke often and emailed as much as we could. At about month 17 I decided I needed more family support so I put my clothes in the car, got someone to stay in our house in Lynchburg and moved back to Atlanta until my husband returned for good.
Thanks for being such a happy star in my sky woman!
Hugs,
Sharon Davis
Good Morning – Last year I went for the first time with one of my dear friends on her boat to Key West. She wanted to snorkle and I was so afraid. I have never snorkled and really can’t swim great. I got enough courage to do it knowing that she was right there if I started to drown. lol I actually did it and loved it. Totally shocked and felt like I had overcome a fear. Your outfit today looks great on you. I love Chico’s.
First, I think your arms look firm! I have issues with my arms. I used to lift weights all the time and I need to get back to it…QUICKLY!!! Emersyn would not approve. Last summer, my granddaughter came for a visit (8 yrs old) and we were cuddling and she squeezed my double chin and said “Nani, you have a chubby chin.” And giggled about it for quite sometime. I sent her home immediately ;-D jk! Kids are so dang honest…Ugh! I love her to the moon and back anyway! I hope you continue to wear your cute sleeveless tops!
I have climbed a mountain–a real mountain, not a huge mountain, but a mountain. A few years ago I went through an illness and I promised myself that I would hike with my daughter if and when I got well– I did get well, we did hike the mountain and we still do hike. I will celebrate my 70th Birthday in October. And her birthday is on the 16th of May (not sure exactly the day for you) but I truly believe some of the best people are born in May. I would love to have the Zoom number for tonight!! Thanks so much for celebrating your birthday giving to others.
I feel like when you stop learning then you are dying. At 66 years old I now have a new world to explore and try new things. Look out world here I come.

In my head and/or spirit, I can do anything I want! It is my body that says “Whoa Nellie, let’s rethink this”. ??
