Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a bright cobalt blue paisley tie-front top and blue pants with tan sandals with spikes from Steve Madden I was thrilled to see so many positive responses and comments on yesterday’s post. If you did not see that post, then you need to check it out (HERE) because the comments were terrific! I thought that it was great seeing how all of you had to concentrate on what you LIKED about your body, instead of the normal grumble of things that we wish we could change. There are a lot of things that I think I would want to change, but overall, I am satisfied with what I have.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a bright cobalt blue paisley tie-front top and blue pants with tan sandals from Steve Madden However, my sweet granddaughter didn’t do me any favors over the weekend when it comes to my body. It was bedtime, so she and I had gotten in bed, and we were going to watch a movie on my computer. I was loving on her, and she went to hug me when all at once she said, “NeeNee, why do your arms feel so funny?” Then she proceeded to poke me in my upper arms while giving me a strange look. “NeeNee, your arms feel like jello!” Well, alright, then! That is a way to win friends and influence enemies.

Yes, my arms jiggle, wave, and flap in the wind. My arms also are full of love, hugs, and made for lifting others up. Could I do more to make then toned, defined, and firm? Oh, HECK, yes! But, I am not going to stress because they are like jello…I happen to like jello. Lol!
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a bright cobalt blue paisley tie-front top and blue pants Okay, how many of you are looking at my arms? Hahaha! Even though I have jello arms (thanks Emersyn), I am still going to wear sleeveless tops. Don’t let your “less than firm” arms keep you from enjoying a fashion that you like. Wouldn’t you know that I ordered in lots of sleeveless tops when it decided to have a cold spell? Y’all, it is 47 degrees here as I am taking these photos. Lol! See, blogging is not all glamourous! This paisley print tie-front top is so pretty and striking. I love the crisp, bright colors, and the tie is flattering for most people. It draws your attention to the center of your body, and that helps to create a thinner look.

The thicker straps of this top are nice since they are wide enough for you to wear a regular bra. And, the deep v-neckline helps to give you a longer looking neck which is flattering. I am wearing a size 1 (8-10) in this top, and I think it fits me great, especially since it is flowy through the mid-section. HERE is the link to the top.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a bright cobalt blue paisley tie-front top and blue pants with silver jewelry I added a new necklace to the look, not because it did anything for the outfit, but because it was a present for my birthday. I went to the mailbox before I started taking my photos, and I got a package in the mail. So, I opened it up, thinking that it was something that Joe had ordered. It was a Benjamin Franklin half-dollar from the year 1960. The package was from ETSY, and I was so confused. I kept thinking, “how did they know that I was turning 60?” Then, I turned the card over, and I saw that it was a present from my sister. Lol! Here is the funny thing, I have a “thing” for half-dollar coins. My dad gave me one when I was about twelve years old, and I still have it. I need to have it put in a coin holder necklace, but for now, it is in the safe deposit box for safekeeping.

The jewelry that I am wearing is the Easton geometric earrings and the Rue cuff bracelet. I didn’t think that I needed a lot of jewelry, but I wanted something to give the outfit a little pizzazz.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing tan sandals with spikes from Steve Madden Speaking of pizzazz…these sandals have plenty of pizzazz! They are the season’s hottest sandal, and you can see why. They are cute and also edgy. The spikes aren’t for everybody, but they make a statement for those willing to take a walk on the wild side. Lol! I ordered these shoes back in February or March, but there was a long waitlist for them, so I just got them a couple of weeks ago. I think that they are in stock right now, but don’t delay if you like this look. HERE is the link, and I am wearing my usual size 9.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a bright cobalt blue paisley top and blue pants with tan sandals with spikes from Steve Madden Cobalt blue is a color that I love and wear often. I had a pair of pants that I used to wear all of the time, but they were getting faded. So, when I came across this pair, I decided it was time to buy a new pair. These are the So Slimming Brigitte Side-Vent pair by Chico’s, and I am wearing a size 1 (8-10), but they are too big for me. I am still learning the size chart with Chico’s, but it doesn’t feel right for me to order a size 6 since I am actually a size 10. But, hey, who I am to argue with their method of sizing. This pant comes in 8 different colors, and all of them are on sale…except for…cobalt blue. LOL! What were the odds of that happening? HERE is the link to these pants, but remember to size down!

Okay, it is time to let the BIRTHDAY week begin!!! Honestly, I am not one that celebrates birthdays, mostly because I feel like they are just another day. But, I had decided to celebrate, but with a twist. I am not the one who is going to get the presents….you are!!!

YESTERDAYS WINNER of the Lilly Pulitzer sunglasses (HERE) was Kathryn. I’ll email you soon for your address.

Let’s call it like it is! I started the blog at 55 years old, not knowing anything about blogging. Some people might say that I still don’t know anything about blogging, but that is alright. Lol!

So, to enter, subscribe to my email, and leave a comment telling me something that you have done that you thought you couldn’t. PLUS, if you hop on my Tuesday night ZOOM call at 8:00 ET, then you will get a surprise gift from me. Psalm 139:7-10

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn,  if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

  1. I don’t normally leave a comment, sorry! But I read your blog every morning and love how you share your life outside of just the outfits you showcase. You work really hard and I so appreciate you! I love that necklace, I’m turning 60 in July and can’t figure out where the time went! Anyway, my accomplishment: 3 years ago I woke up to the most painful sensation of feeling like I was stabbed in my back. This started a long journey of having to quit my job, I could barely function and no doctor knew what was wrong. Finally, I decided we had tried everything, I gave it to God. I can’t remember how quickly things changed but I am back to work full time and feel like I have my life back. I’ve learned to embrace the journey no matter how bumpy it might be.

    1. The outfit looks great on you. I love cobalt blue. I went back to school in my mid-thirties and got my associate’s degree in business administration, which then lead to several promotions.

Just wanted to wish you a Happy Happy Birthday! ????

I remember my grandparents when they were my age. They were old! I think 55 now is what 35 was back then. I exercise, eat right, work, travel, have hobbies, and love on my husband and family! We just opened a new practice for my husband ( he’s a chiropractor), and it’s off to a great start!

  4. Great topic! And I think you have given me the courage to go sleeveless!
Age IS only a number… just like weight is just a number. It doesn’t define us.
I went to medical school at age 35 with 2 young children and a husband who was rarely home. At first it was so hard to memorize everything, I thought I’d made a terrible mistake. But with practice, my brain adapted and I regained my ability to learn and memorize! I was able to work part time after training, and be with my boys after school. Since then, I’m not afraid to learn and try new things, knowing with exercise and practice our brains (and bodies) can do SO much. It may not feel that way at the start of something new, but it’s true!

I also love cobalt blue. Looks great on you! Here is how I refuse to let age defy me: I started a new job last month, at 61! I also started a new business last year. So who cares how old we are? As long as we look good doing it. Thanks for the inspirations.

    1. Happy Birthday week to you! You look amazing! I can’t think of anything recent that I have done that I thought I couldn’t, but after reading today’s post, I am going to start wearing sleeveless tops. I will not wear them because I always felt my upper arms are not toned enough for sleeveless tops and I love them! So, you are right…that shouldn’t keep me from wearing something I love! Love reading your post. Have a great birthday week! Got to go shopping now for sleeveless tops ?

Happy birthday week!!! This isn’t the usual type of accomplishment but I am doing good, enjoying life since my sister/best friend passed. I know this is only through the Lord though and not in my own strength!:)

  7. I love your blue outfit. You look so pretty and you have great arms! Happy Birthday!

    1. Brenda Young says:

I was able to follow instructions and connect to a zoom call with my sisters. ( I would normally get help from my husband or daughter) I appreciate your blog and how you never give up. Thank you for helping us. Happy Birthday! You look so young!

      1. Angelia Wampner says:

Happy Birthday! Age for me is just a number I dont pay attention too. If I like a fashion style I wear it. I have learned to accept myself as is and dont let Age appropriate keep me from experimenting with styles. One thing I did which I am so glad I did was zipline from a 170 foot tower. It was so exciting to know I faced my fears and can do anything with determination! Hope you have a fanastic birthday week.

I love your birthday giveaways! What an awesome way to celebrate your birthday by giving to others. At 57, I began a very hard dyslexia training (equivalent to a masters degree) but I already had a masters. At the end I will be a Certified Academic Language Therapist and. licensed Dyslexia Therapist when I pass the licensing exam. If I knew how hard it would be over the two years, I would’ve not started it. It has been stressful and grueling. It has been worth it to see struggling readers go from having no confidence to reading with pride. I have been with the same students for two years. You come to know them and see them blossom. I was by far the older wiser lady in the group. It’s become a calling. I can see the difference my efforts are making. My class did not get to graduate on May 1st as planned. We will eventually. That is how I have tackled something later in life and age did not stop me.

  8. I am afraid to speak in front of a group of people but was asked to speak about a group I was involved in at my church. Without thinking I said I would do it. When the time came I thought there was no way I’d ever get through it. I honestly wanted to back out but felt too ashamed so I sucked it up and did it! Everything went fine! I actually thought I did a pretty good job. It’s nothing I want to do again anytime soon but if I would need to I think I could handle it. Hope you have a wonderful birthday. Spend the whole month celebrating. You deserve it!

My younger sister took up triathlons. After cheering her on for the sidelines I decided to compete in one myself. I wasn’t sure I would be able to finish, but I did. And what a rush of accomplishment I felt. I wasn’t the fastest, nor the most graceful but I DID it! The mental and physical stamina I used to do that I use for all kinds of things now!

  9. falkchris says:

Í neglected to say Happy Birthday! You look amazing at 60!!

Today is my birthday and I am turning 55. I have always wanted to fluently speak Spanish. I took French in high school and remember a little of it like very conjugation which transfer well to Spanish. I even took beginner Spanish about 8 yesterday ago but didn’t practice so a lot of it didn’t stick. So during the quarantine I’ve been learning on Duolingo and am on my 68th consecutive day of 20-30 mins of daily practice. My daughter is fluent in Spanish and she said she will help me with my conversation skills as the skills get more difficult. Eventually I plan to take courses in a traditional setting. I figured I’m never to old to learn something new. ?

One of my favorite comments from my granddaughter as she poked the soft skin under my chin…”Grandma this feels like pudding” lol I am 67 and the one thing I do three times a week is a HIIT exercise class (on line at this time) Sure most of the class is half my age but thats okay. I do the best I can and feel great after. Have a great birthday week!

      1. Dawn Spanie says:

BE THE BEST VERSION OF YOURSELF, no matter what age that is. Sounds cliche, but think about it and make the why not make effort. You have everything to gain. I lost my job right before the pandemic hit (the bosses new live-in girlfriend wanted my job). So after 25 years in the same niche administration field, I am going to do consulting and start my own business. My talents and experiences can now help many to succeed.

    2. Happy Birthday week!
With you inspiration, I am working on adding color to my wardrobe! Next step is to attempt a sleeveless top! Let’s just say I’ve got lots of jello! LOL
