WHEN YOU CAN’T DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO BE DRESSY OR CASUAL
Okay, I am sure that all of you have heard the saying about “paybacks.” Well, this weekend, I was on the receiving end of one of those paybacks. It was all fun and games on Friday (HERE) when I tricked my son into helping me move furniture. He was not as amused as I was when he saw that I needed help moving a huge couch from one end of the house to the other. I guess he spent the next day or so devising a plan to pay me back, and he succeeded!
Emersyn, his daughter, came over Friday to spend the night with me. She and I got up early, we picked up around the house, ate breakfast, and then headed outside to enjoy a day at the pool. I wasn’t planning on getting in the pool, but she begged until I relented, and we enjoyed splashing and cavorting for at least an hour. Hunger drove us inside, and we changed out of the wet suits into comfortable clothing. We were lying on the bed playing a game of I SPY, when her daddy showed up and said that they were all going swimming. She quickly changed into her swimsuit, but I decided to work on the next day’s blog. I walked outside to watch everyone having fun, which was a huge mistake on my part.
Have I mentioned before that my son is 6’4″? He is a big boy, and he picked me up and started walking toward the pool. I thought he was just kidding when he threatened to throw me in. He said, “I know you don’t have your phone on you, but if you have anything else that you don’t want to get wet, you better take it off now.” I came up with all kinds of excuses, but he took a big leap, and into the pool, we both went.
As if getting thrown in the pool wasn’t enough, Emersyn decided that I needed to be splashed also. I think this is called, “adding insult to injury.” Lol! I guess that I’ll think twice before tricking my son into moving furniture for me again or start walking around in my bathing suit if I do. Lol!!!
I sure am glad that I wasn’t wearing this outfit when I took my dip in the pool. Leopard is a print that I have plenty of, but this summery play on the print was soo pretty that I had to grab it. I love the neutral background and the white leopard print. The cardigan is very lightweight, so it is perfect for the summer, except for those of you who live in the hotter climates. It is a relaxed fit, so I am wearing a size medium, and it fits me perfectly. I chose to wear the top with all white, but it will look great with many colors since it is a neutral. HERE is the link to the cardigan.
Do you think that I went overboard on the jewelry today? Lol! I was going through my Kendra Scott jewelry, and separating the silver and gold into piles. I tend to wear gold more often than silver, so I have way more gold items. My jewelry stays in the bags that it is shipped in in hopes that it helps the jewelry not to tarnish. I’ve never had anything tarnish, but I don’t know if it is because it is kept in the bags, or because it doesn’t tarnish.
When I put this outfit on, I had intentions of wearing it as a dressy outfit. So, I put on more jewelry than I would have if I had known that I would decide to take it toward a casual style. My Alice earrings are a different look for me. They are an elongated earring with crystals accents. HERE is the link to the earrings that also come in Rose Gold. The rest of my jewelry are items that I’ve worn regularly. The shortest necklace is the Elisa triple strand necklace (HERE) with a small Ivory Mother of Pearl drop. The Reid necklace (HERE) has a large Mother of Pearl Pendant, and the Rue gold necklace (HERE) is the longest one. My two bracelets are the Fallyn link cuff (HERE) and the Maggie filigree bangle (HERE) bracelet.
Okay, I think that I have found my new favorite pair of white jeans! White jeans should be in everyone’s closet. In fact, you need to have more than one pair! These slim high-rise jeans were sent to me by Soft Surroundings, and this is the first pair of jeans that I have tried from them. I have to say that I am impressed! I love the high waist, deep pockets, comfortable stretch, and the fit is perfect. Plus, the thing that most of us care about when buying white jeans…you can’t see through them! These are soft and comfortable, and they don’t appear that they will “bag” as you wear them. I’ve worn them all day, and they are holding up nicely. I am wearing my usual size 10 that fits like a dream. BTW, these also come in petite, tall, and plus sizes so that everyone can enjoy these jeans. I chose to cuff them today for a casual summer look, but they look equally as cute when worn longer. Here is the link.
These slip-on sneakers are the reason that I decided to go with a more casual look. I went to grab these shoes HERE, but decided on the sneakers instead. If I had worn the first pair of shoes, then I would have worn the pants long, and it would have been a dressy look. These sneakers are definitely not dressy, so cuffing the pants helped with the casual style. These canvas sneakers are a summer favorite of mine. I love how cute they look, and how easy they are to slip on and off. I am wearing my usual size 9 in these, and they fit me perfectly. These sneakers also come in a couple of other colors and prints. HERE is the link to the shoes.

Love the outfit. Laughing at your story, my son done that to me once (brought back lots of good memories).
I love both the outfits! where did you get the pants that went in the pool with you?
I bought the leggings last year from Walmart.
Ha! Ha! Ha! That’s too funny!
Great story!
I think because you carried him for nine months and birthed him that it is your prerogative to ask him to help you!
Hahahaha!
Cute, cute cute!
I like the outfit because I column dress a lot. I won’t to know if you like the no tie sneakers as well as the ones that tie. I haven’t tried them yet but I think I would miss how secure a tie on shoe feels.
I like the no-tie much better. I was afraid that they would be hard to slip on, and not feel secure. But, they are great on both parts.
LOL!! Looks like it will be a while before you ask him another “large favor”. Like the outfit today, and I always wondered how those sneakers felt, now I know. Oh the outfit you went in with looked very comfortable too… LOL
I love those sneakers and I think that you’ll like them too.
You look fabulous in this mostly white outfit w all that classy jewelry! I love your beautiful leopard sweater but Zid die of heat stroke if I wore it here in N.M. where it’s 100 degrees everyday and the past 2 days with 40 mph wind! ?
Too Funny! You looked great even wet and liked the outfit!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another summer outfit that I just love! White jeans, white tank/shell, cardigan. I just have to remember to put jewelry on. I find that in the summer I forget to put on a necklace or bracelet(s). I don’t know why.
I put jewelry on all the time, but I am bad to take it off and forget where I left it. Lol!
Super cute outfit!
Cute outfit today! I never wear yellow but the other day I was at Maurices and bought two tops on clearance. One was a bright yellow and the other one was a mustard color. I’m blonde like you and you wear yellow so I decided to buy them. Funny story about you and your son.
You will have to send me a photo of you wearing the tops!
Love this outfit for casual summers. Your pool looks so refreshing and it was so hot yesterday that I don’t think I would have minded if someone threw me in! lol
It is going to be in the 90s all week long. I think the pool will get a lot of use this week!
Oh my, I love the stories about the interactions between you and your family. And P.S. this outfit is spot on ?
Thanks, Michele! Our family is a mess, but I love them dearly!
Hahaha! Hey but at least the couch is in the right place!!
This is so cute on you Tania!!??
Thanks, Beverly! I liked the outfit!
Exactly! Lol!!! It was worth getting thrown in the pool. Hahaha
