Happy New Year’s Eve! Today is the last day of the year, and tomorrow will be the beginning of 2024. I love this time of the year because it is filled with hope and promises for the future. Sunday is always followed by Monday, but this Monday is different…it is time for a change, a reset, a new way of life.

I’ve heard that what you do on the first day of the new year is what you will do for the rest of the year. You and I both know that isn’t true because most resolutions only last a few weeks. But, what if…what if this year was different?

What if the minute the time ticked over to 12:01 A.M., everything was different? What would you change? Would you change things for health reasons? Maybe you would change things for financial reasons? Many of you might want to see changes in your relationships.

Here is the thing, go get a mirror and look in it because the person looking back at you is what has to change. Your choices are sometimes the reason for failing health. There are some diseases that are not caused by poor food choices, alcohol consumption, drug use, tobacco, or lack of exercise, but a lot of them are.

Our financial woes might be because of an employer that shuts down or an economy we can’t control, but a lot of time, it is because we make poor decisions on what we spend our money on.

When it comes to relationships, we might need to set boundaries. Everyone doesn’t deserve to have access to your life, and setting boundaries can be useful for relationships.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

The beginning of a new year happens only once a year. We don’t have to wait until the beginning of a new year or the first day of the week to experience a life-altering change. When we give our lives to Christ, we become a new person. The old has gone, the new is here!

This new person is filled with hope and promises of the person we want to become. More generous, more loving, more forgiving, more spiritual, more like Christ. We pray, we read our Bibles, and we strive to bring others to Him.

New Year’s resolutions and giving our lives to Christ both have something in common. They both take work. Wanting, wishing, hoping, etc., doesn’t change anything very long. It takes discipline, consistency, and a deep desire to bring about change.

Today is Sunday, and tomorrow is another chance for a reset. Look in the mirror and ask the person looking back at you if this is going to be the year when the old has gone and the new is here.

To GOD Goes the Glory!

Have A Blessed Day!
