There is nothing more versatile than a crisp, white button-down shirt. You can wear them with suits or jeans, and they never go out of style. I have several white shirts in my closet and lots of different styles and shapes. White goes with anything, and almost everyone can wear this versatile color.
Even though I love a white button-down, I do like a style element in my clothing. A style element is what I also call a unique detail. It is something that sets an item apart from all the rest. My husband used to always wear a white or blue button-down shirt with a pair of khaki pants. The shirts and pants were all the same brand and style, so it looked like we wore the same thing repeatedly.
I don’t want to appear that I am wearing the same thing repeatedly, so I try to look for details that make an item stand out. I am sure that you have already spotted the style element on this white button-down shirt. The ruffle front of this lightweight poplin shirt looks so polished and chic! I call this classic look a “tuxedo” shirt, but you can see that it also looks great with jeans!
This white button-down shirt is a tunic length, and I’ve seen tunics everywhere this year. Not all tunics are the same, and some are much longer than others. This one is on the longer side and it has it is great for covering up the rear. I think this style shirt would look AWESOME with a pair of black faux-leather leggings, and I might style it that way the next time.
But, you don’t always have to wear a tunic shirt untucked and long. For shorter women, a tunic shirt can make your legs look stubby, and that is never a look that we strive for. So, here I have tucked the tunic into my jeans, and you can see a big difference in the length of my legs. I prefer the tucked version, but I can see myself wearing it both ways. I am wearing a size 1 white button-down shirt, and I think that it fits me great. I am usually between a medium and a large for size reference.
While we are looking at this gorgeous white button-down shirt, can we just talk about these accessories? I mean, have you ever seen anything more gorgeous? Accessories are the icing of the outfit!
I love my ombre sunglasses! These are a great size, and the ombre shade is subtle and gorgeous. I love oversized sunglasses, especially those that don’t have prongs to get stuck in my hair. These do have Maximum UV protection that helps to block the sun’s harmful UV rays.
But, let’s talk about my favorite accessory, the horn and shell adjustable necklace! I love the color variation of this necklace, and it is one that you will be able to wear all year round. It is a fabulous neutral necklace, and since it can be adjusted shorter, that makes it very versatile also!
The matching horn cuff bracelet is also a great neutral. The colors in these items will vary since they are made from 100% horns. The cuff that I am wearing is more camel-colored, but the one on the website is more white. Here are a few other jewelry pieces that would also look great.
My crossbody handbag/wallet is versatile also. Versatile should be my middle name since that is always what I am looking for in items. You can carry this as a shoulder bag, use it as a crossbody, or take off the straps and use it as a wallet in your larger handbag.
It is made of soft leather, and it keeps you organized with multiple compartments, card slots, and a zipper pocket.
I am wearing the So-Slimming Girlfriend Ankle Jeans in Venus Indigo. I love this medium shade of blue, but the jeans also come in a darker version if you prefer. I love an ankle jean length, although as a child, I hated it because I thought the pants looked too short on me. That was the curse of being all legs when I was young.
An ankle-length jean works with many shoe styles, including sandals, flats, booties, heels, and more. That makes them very versatile. Lol!!! Here is what the website says about the fabric: “No Tummy Girlfriend Jeans feature a slightly stretchy fabric powered by exclusive So Slimming® Hidden Fit technology that slims and smoothes at the tummy.” I am wearing a size 1, and the fit is spot on.
The pointy toe kitten heels are an old pair that I’ve had for a while. They are a great neutral, and the pointy toe helps to elongate the leg. Because I’ve had these for a while, they are almost sold out of sizes. This slingback pair is a great alternative, and the color is gorgeous.
I hope that you have had as much fun today as I have. Remember, a white button-down shirt is versatile, classic, and crisp, and chic! Try several versions so that you don’t look like you are wearing a “uniform” and look for a unique style when shopping!
