“The” Blanket Scarf

DSC_0009 Anyone who does not own this blanket scarf, please raise your hand. This has to be “the” blanket scarf of the season. In fact, it was the blanket scarf of last season. I remember I was so very happy when I bought mine last year, till a much younger lady in town posted on Facebook that she just loved her new scarf that just arrived in the mail. Even though I had bought mine a couple of weeks earlier, and had even worn the scarf, I felt like I was copying her look. I made the critical mistake of not making mine “Facebook Official”. LOL!DSC_0010 All teasing aside, that is one of the downfalls of buying a trendy item. You run the risk of running into someone wearing the very same item. I HATE that!  I am not that unique, but I can’t stand it when I see someone else wearing something I own. I know that items are massed produced, and that thousands are sold, but I just don’t want them to be wearing the same item at the same time. I think it goes back to my high school days, when I went to the Prom and another girl had on the same dress. I blame my mother!DSC_0013These pants are light beige corduroy from Maurice’s. However, I also love this pair from Nordstrom.  And I wore my Marc Fisher boots that don’t have much of a heel. While I say that age is just an attitude, my hips are telling me that I have been wearing too many shoes with a higher heel. They need an attitude adjustment, till then, I guess I will wear flats for a day or two.
DSC_0014At least I haven’t run into any one else wearing these bracelets. The geometric bracelet was purchased at T J Maxx and has a toggle closure. Here is one that is similar, but a little expensive, and here is one a little more affordable. The amazing grace bracelet was purchased on my trip to Atlanta in the little tea shop boutique. Here is one that I own from Artistic Icing, a shop on Etsy. The braided leather bracelet was purchased from a street fair vendor that also makes belts and wallets. My watch is from Fossil, and is rose gold with crystals surrounding a dark brown face.DSC_0008The denim shirt is from Old Navy. But honestly, with this scarf you could wear almost anything. It has so many great colors, I just grabbed the first shirt I saw. I mean, I agonized and tried on several shirts, before I decided on the perfect one to put on my blog. Haha  I still blame my mother, she must have warped me. Lol!  I wonder how long it will take before I get a phone call.

  2. LOL! I resisted getting this blanket scarf and when Target had it smaller version last year, I could not resist. Love how you styled the “it’ scarf of the year!

Thank you for being a part of TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you soon!

  3. Sometime we should all swap stories of horrible things are mothers made us wear. Scarred for life 🙂

  4. I love the lipstick you are wearing today. It is very soft and natural. I bought a rectangular scarf with those colors because the blanket scarf seemed like it was too much fabric for me. Plus it was hot. I think that’s the fun of fashion—you have to find what works for you. Bought the Bonfire poncho from the Loft and it is gorgeous. It is soft and has great colors—coral, red, grey and some bark brown. Just the colors that make you think of a bonfire AND it was on sale! Now I have to find a fire pit 🙂

    1. I need to check that scarf out, Sharon. It sounds like great colors.

  5. I am raising my hand! I have been looking for one that appeals to me with color, and have found a couple. Love the one you chose and the tan pants with the look . Cozy too!
THanks for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday!

  6. Looks great on you. And you’re always ready for an impromptu picnic. 🙂 – Sister

  7. I know that feeling about seeing someone wearing the same piece especially a dress – but as for accessories like scarves, shoes and handbags, I find that each of us has a unique “look” that makes it okay. Your haircut and hair color is awesome and the scarf actually accentuates that and people see something different than they would on a 20 or 30 something year old (with their predictable long hair). You look great! Have a wonderful day!! xx Britta

    1. Thanks Britta! I think the scarf matches my hair too????

  8. The colors in that scarf definitely go with EVERYTHING! I love mine.

  9. I have this one too!! I bought 2 last year when my Baylor girl said we “had to have it!” LOL I purchased a different one for my daughter-in-law, that I’m now seeing everywhere this year. Wish I’d gotten that one for myself as well. : /

    1. I did the same, Brandye. I bought this one for me and one of my daughter-in-laws, and a navy and green one for the other daughter-in-law. I loved both of them????

  10. You are too funny – I always read your blog first thing in the morning to get my chuckle of the day! Thanks!
I just received your sister’s book Last In A Long Line Of Rebels that I won in the giveaway! Thank you, it looks really good. My grandchildren are a little young but I will give it to them in a few years. I think I’ll read it in the meantime!

    1. You will love the book, Lisa. Even though it is marketed for middle grade, it is not too young for adult readers. Let me know when you have read it.

  11. The blanket scarf looks beautiful on you! It appears to be a manageable size. Some are big enough to sleep under…ha… Your outfits always look so “put together”. Each item compliments the others. Um, I would be raising my hand on the no blanket scarf issue. The shorter I get, the less I wear bulkier scarves.

  12. I also have this scarf last year. I got it at target after seeing a number of the younger petite bloggers wear a similar one I love and have it on this am. I enjoy being able to copy the younger woman on some items Enjoy your blog every morning. Makes me smile
