Do you wear eyeliner? I rarely leave the house without mine! The question is not whether to wear eyeliner; it’s WHERE to wear eyeliner. Above the eye has its benefits. Using eyeliner on the top lid can “lift” the eyes, making them appear larger and more awake. It’s also less likely to smudge into fine lines or wrinkles, which can sometimes happen with under-eye makeup. Eyeliner under the eye can balance your eye makeup, especially if you’re wearing a heavier lid look. It can add definition without drawing attention to under-eye concerns. I now use a brown liner since it isn’t as harsh and looks more natural. No matter which you prefer, you don’t want it smearing with the warmer temperatures. No worries! Today, I’m sharing the best waterproof eyeliners to buy now.

The Best Waterproof Eyeliners To Buy Now – $

You know I’m a fan of e.l.f, and it’s pricing! This little black marvel, celebrated by 17,550 reviewers with a solid 4.4-star rating, has become a must-have, not just for its affordability but for its incredible performance. Imagine a liner that glides on creamy and stays put through every splash and tear. Perfect for lining your lash line or waterline or even covering the entire lid as a dramatic eyeshadow base. Did I mention the price?? Very affordable!

Wow! With a staggering 63,456 ratings and a 4.4-star average on Amazon, this liner is under $10 dollars! Its flex-tip brush and hexagonal grip are designed for a no-skip application. Yes, please! Getting a smooth glide is important. There’s nothing worse than having to clean and reapply eyeliner after a slip-up. I know that from experience. I’m a big fan of liquid eyeliner.

I love a good deal! For about $11.87, you get two of these bad boys. Plus, it stays put for up to 16 hours. With a solid 4.5 stars from over 7,000 reviews, it’s also ophthalmologist-tested, so even those of us with sensitive eyes can dive in without worry. Revlon has been around for a 1000 years, so I’m sure you’re familiar with the brand. Two for one means you won’t run out quickly.

This vegan and cruelty-free liner (always a plus) is great for creating sharp, precise lines without breaking a sweat. Of course, if you do break a sweat, this is waterproof, so you’re still good, lol. The flexible felt tip lets you control the thickness, so getting that dramatic cat eye (aka Taylor Swift) or a subtle everyday look is easier than ever. Plus, at $10 and available in both black and brown, it’s a steal for anyone looking to up their eyeliner game.

For those who love a liner that sticks around without the panda eyes, Stila’s Stay All Day Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner might just be your new go-to. It glides on with the ease of a pencil, offers a smudge window to perfect your look, and then locks in place for a solid 12 hours. (If you’d told me years ago that I’d use phrases like “Smudge-window,” I would have laughed my head off. ) With a variety of shades from classic jet black to vivid amethyst, it’s versatile enough to use as a liner or a smudgy shadow.

Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil has a whopping 4.5 stars from over 17,000 reviews. Its creamy formula, enriched with vitamin E, jojoba oil, and cottonseed oil, makes application a breeze—no dragging or pulling. Who needs that?! And with 37 shades, from the deep metallic copper of “Lucky” to the bold “Electric Empire,” you have tons of options!

The Smashbox Always Sharp Longwear Waterproof Kôhl Eyeliner Pencil has a solid 4-star rating by 2,134 folks. At $27, what sets it apart isn’t just its rich color or its waterproof formula; it’s the genius self-sharpening cap that gives you a perfect point every single time you use it. How smart is that?!! Plus, it’s cruelty-free and comes in sustainable packaging, making it a guilt-free purchase. I LOVE guilt-free purchases, lol.

The Best Waterproof Eyeliners To Buy Now – Removers

I can’t share waterproof makeup without giving you a way to take it off! Please tell me you’re removing your makeup at the end of the day. 🙂 If you’ve ever battled to remove waterproof mascara without irritating your eyes, Neutrogena’s Gentle Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover is for you. This dual-phase cleanser, boasting a 4.7-star rating from over 17,220 reviews, is a hit for its ability to remove even the most stubborn makeup without leaving behind a greasy residue. Priced at $8.99 for an 8 fl oz bottle, it’s enriched with soothing aloe and cucumber, making it perfect for sensitive eyes. And sensitive pocketbooks, lol.

Lancôme’s Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover is a standout with a 4.8-star rating from 3,269 reviews. At $39, it might seem a bit on the pricey side, but hear me out. Lancome is a trusted brand, and this dual-phase formula—a mix of oil and water- activates with a simple shake, removing even the most waterproof makeup without any harsh rubbing or greasy aftermath. Plus, it’s friendly for all skin types, including those of us with sensitive skin or contacts. It promises to leave your skin feeling clean and refreshed.

Okay, Gurls. Comment and let me know if you’re an under-eye liner gal, or an above the lid type. I love hearing how you do things in your house.

  1. Check out the new updated Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day Smudge and Set Liners. The new formula is clean and EU regulated. And you can safely use it two waterline and tightline!!! They are buildable and blendable, and are beautiful as eye shadows!!!

  2. Love liner for those few times I do wear more than mascara and lip color but I can’t ever get liquid on well. I’ve tried too many times. Thanks for sharing all the options.

  3. Julie Lozano says:

    Hello Ftiend!
Great piece on eyeliner. I’m a total fan of eyeliner and won’t leave the house without it.
The Revlon liquid is my tool of choice. I use the one with the tiny roller on the applicator. It’s foolproof and stays put. I prefer the Sparkling Black.. it has a nice sheen to it. Under eye I love Mally Pencil Eyeliners from QVC. Tons of colors and last forever. I also agree with the Neutrogena remover. It’s the only product I trust.

Great piece today! Have a Blessed evening. Julie. 🐈‍⬛😸

    1. Thanks for all the info.

  4. I’ve been trying to find a good eyeliner that doesn’t tug my lids and doesn’t dry, cake or smudge. I think I will try some of these. Thanks for so many great suggestions you bring to us girls!

  5. “Forever” liner is also a great one if you have oily skin, it’s Sephora brand. Love your blog!!

  6. I’ve never tried the waterproof eyeliners. I need to. Great post.

  7. Jennifer S says:

I use eyeliner on the top only. Thanks for the great reviews.

  8. I need to try the elf one, thx

  9. I wear eyeliner everyday…and I love this post! I wear it on top lid only. I do like to wear it underneath, occasionally when going out at night. I feel that wearing it underneath makes my eyes look smaller, but definitely more dramatic.
I’m glad to know about waterproof eyeliners because I don’t have any! Thanks Tania!

  10. sue koren says:

Aren’t all of these hard to remove?

    1. Waterproof eyeliner is harder to remove than normal. However, good makeup removers do a great job.

      1. The Lancôme remover is amazing, same with Garnier, sorry I may have spelled that wrong, 😉

  11. I’m going to try the Elf eye liner. Elf also makes the best cleansing balm. It removes my mascara great. I’m not losing eyelashes like you used to with makeup remover wipes. I do think older women need to use eye makeup with a gentle hand and not overdo it. Actually all women. It can make them look so fake.

  12. I’ve used the Neutrogena eye makeup remover forever for my sensitive eyes. I tried the Revlon Colorstay and didn’t have much luck. I’m not good with liquid eyeliners. I recently tried a Wet & Wild Breakup eyeliner and it stays put and inexpensive, but bothered my eyes.

  13. NATALIE K says:

Great article!! I just learned a trick yesterday with eyeliner!! When you have a waterproof GEL eyeliner you may use it on your bottom lash line by using a brush onto the eyeliner then applying the eyeliner brush to the bottom lash line!! Beautiful!! If you apply with the Gel pencil alone it’s way to dark!!!

  14. I am going to try the ELF in grey. I am a top of eyelid liner. Thanks for the recommendation

  15. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m going to give the elf brand a try!

  16. I am more of an under eyeliner person. Have not perfected the over eye technique yet but working on it. I just ordered a pair of makeup glasses in hopes of doing a better job at applying eye makeup.

  17. I prefer a grey liner and love the e.l.f. – really wish more came in grey.

  18. I line both my upper lid and under my eyes. I have large brown eyes, and so I use dark liner to make them stand out. I was looking for a waterproof liner that I can use in the upper waterline. I will probably try one of the waterproof ones you recommend. I find if I use a regular liner, it disappears fairly quickly in the waterline.

  19. Yes, an eyeliner is a must if I want eyes, the older I get they just disappear.

  20. Rosemary Di Gioia says:

Try Clinique’s Take The Day Off Makeup Remover…it’s fantastic !! Takes off eye makeup and regular makeup quickly and completely!! It’s in a round jar because it’s a creamy type not a liquid and it works the best !!!

  21. Such a FABULOUS picture!💕

  22. Definitely need waterproof for summer.

  23. I’m looking for a liquid waterproof eyeliner in grey

  24. Sephora has nice ones too.
