The Best Shorts For Women Over 50
Today, we are talking allllll about shorts. I know some of you might not think that shorts are for women over 50, but trust me, they are! Shorts are something that we all wore as children, and we even loved wearing them even in our twenties or thirties. But, for some, a switch gets flipped once we reach our forties, and shorts get pushed to the back of our closets. The key is finding the right style and length that flatters your body and makes you feel confident and comfortable. In today’s post, I’m sharing some of the best shorts for women over 50. From chinos to bermudas, this list of shorts has you covered!
You might have a different reason for throwing your shorts to the curb, but these were a few I’ve heard from my readers in the past. Let’s listen to our inner voice when it comes to fashion. If a style makes you uneasy, then don’t wear it. If you like a style and want to wear it, don’t let others’ opinions stand in your way. I am going out on a limb here, but I bet none of us have the “perfect” body. Here is another news flash for you: I probably wouldn’t even look at your legs if we met on the street. I might notice your eyes, smile, hairstyle, clothes, shoes, jewelry, and handbag. But unless your legs were colored bright orange, I probably wouldn’t give them another thought.
Now, let’s dive into the best shorts for women over 50!
Best Denim Shorts For Women Over 50
I love a good pair of denim shorts in the summer, especially since they are so versatile! They can wear them with so many different tops depending on where your day takes you, and they look just as great with a white tee and sneakers as they do with a satin blouse and dressy sandals.

There are so many different styles of denim shorts. It doesn’t matter whether they are white, frayed, distressed, or rolled cuff it doesn’t matter… I love them all! You pick the length you are most comfortable with and then wear them with confidence. I prefer a 5″ – 7″ length best, but I have shorts in many different lengths. If you prefer a longer length, check out these Bermuda denim shorts from Lee.

The Best Pull-on Shorts
Pull-on shorts are typically made of a lightweight, breathable fabric, which makes them comfortable to wear in warm weather. Most pull-on shorts are designed with a high waistline that can be more flattering for women over 50, as it can help to elongate the legs and create a long, lean silhouette. This year, I’ve even seen pull-on denim shorts!

I’ve been gravitating to this style more and more this year! They make getting dressed in the spring and summer easy because there aren’t any buttons or zippers to fiddle with. I think you’ll be seeing me share more about this style of shorts soon because I’ve been growing quite the collection.
Bermuda Shorts For Women Over 50

Bermuda shorts are a wardrobe staple that offers both comfort and style, which is why they’re such a great choice for women over 50. Their length, typically hitting just above the knee, strikes a balance between showing some leg while still providing ample coverage. This makes them ideal for various activities, whether you’re running errands, meeting friends for lunch, or enjoying a casual day out.

One of the best things about Bermuda shorts is their versatility. You can easily dress them up or down depending on the occasion. Pair them with a flowy blouse or a fitted top for a relaxed yet put-together daytime look. If you’re heading out for a dinner date or a more formal event, you can dress them up with a blazer or a statement necklace for a touch of sophistication. I find that I wear them just as often with wedges as I do with flip-flops!

Bermuda shorts are designed with a relaxed fit and are often more flattering than other short styles. If you are self-conscious about your legs or thighs, this cut of shorts is what you’ll want to shop for.

I wasn’t a fan of Bermuda shorts until I bought this pair. These black Bermuda shorts are so comfortable and fit like a dream. They have a slim silhouette, and I think that is what I like so much about these shorts. They can be easily dressed up or worn casually, so they are very versatile.

The Best White Shorts for Women Over 50

White shorts might be the most versatile piece in your spring and summer closet. White is the perfect neutral for summer since it goes with everything. You can choose to dress classically in black and white, stay in the neutral family with white and beige, or wear bright and colorful tops for a pick-me-up.

I’m not sure if I wear anything more in the summer than white shorts. It is funny how your fashion style can change over the years. I used to never wear white shorts or jeans in the summer, and now I practically live in them. I have them in many different lengths, like these 10-inch Bermudas.

I haven’t touched base with your blog for quite some time; it was good to read up on your posts again. I thoroughly enjoyed reading them and they give me lots of ideas on how to style my clothes.
Glad to see you’re back!
This was a great post. I was so happy to see the different lengths. I am short (5’1’’ in the morning 🙂) and prefer to wear a shorter length. Have you ever tried the PGA Tour brand? The fabric is wonderful and comes in 2 lengths. No wrinkling and a slight stretch in the waist
Thank you for sharing. I enjoy your blogs and often check out your LTK posts.

You look good in all of these. These are all super cute!
I do love the look of the longer shorts! Thanks for tips on styling them. Also THANK YOU for the Amazon gift card this week! What a great surprise to be your winner last week! Splurge time! 💕
I love shorts. While living in Florida for a while they were worn 9 months out of the year. Keep sending us fashion
I’m quite heavy and generally only wear shorts at home. Luckily, in the Houston area, capris are still an “ in” thing. It’s just too hot to wear jeans after March. I have some linen and cotton pants, but still feel the most comfortable in capris. But I also have a wide selection of shorts to wear at home!
Capris are having a moment this year. So, you’ll be in style everywhere, not just in Houston.
