Okay, Gurls. Today, I’m sharing some of the best dermaplaning tools to buy. But if you’re like I was a few years ago, you may wonder, “What the heck is dermaplaning, and why do I need it?” I remember YEARS ago seeing a woman on Oprah who looked twenty. It turns out she was over 40, but she said the key was that she shaved her face! Everyone was shocked, but hey, it worked for her. Dermaplaning and shaving have similarities, but they are different. Dermaplaning is more about scraping away dead skin, etc. Let’s get into it.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a procedure that involves GENTLY scraping the skin’s surface with a specialized tool. The primary aim is to remove dead skin cells and peach fuzz, revealing a smoother, brighter complexion. Dermaplaning is less abrasive than some other things you may have seen, and it’s typically okay for most skin types, including sensitive skin.

Why Use Dermaplaning Tools?

Dermaplaning tools offer several benefits:

  1. Exfoliation: By removing the top layer of dead skin, dermaplaning can improve the texture and tone of your skin, making it feel smoother and look more radiant.
  2. Better Product Penetration: By removing dead skin and fine hair, skincare products can penetrate more deeply and effectively, boosting their effectiveness. We pay a lot for skincare products, so we want to give them the best possible chance to work!
  3. Makeup Application: A smoother skin surface allows for a better makeup application, helping foundation and powder to sit better on the skin.
  4. Peach Fuzz Removal: While the primary focus is exfoliation, removing fine facial hair is a nice bonus, leaving your face feeling soft.

Choosing Dermaplaning Tools

When selecting dermaplaning tools, opt for ones specifically designed for at-home use, which are typically less sharp than professional-grade scalpels but still effective. Look for tools with safety features, such as guarded blades, and be sure to read the directions to minimize the risk of cuts.

This tool also works for shaping eyebrows and includes a cover for more precise detailing. No one wants to slip up and have half an eyebrow! The blades are designed with fine micro guards to protect your skin during use, and they are slim and portable, making them perfect for traveling. Plus, you can feel good about your purchase with Schick’s mail-back recycling program.

I love that this is designed to mimic a tube of lipstick! It operates with something called “VISOFO Technology.” All I know is that it uses a spinning head covered by a protective plate to trim hair gently and painlessly. Ready for daily use, this trimmer allows for applying makeup without waiting for hair regrowth. So it is easier to avoid nicks, bumps, or razor burn. Plus, with a battery that charges in just 70 minutes, it’s always ready when you are. Grab it in a variety of vibrant colors, from Coral to Topaz!

What a fabulous picture of you! Yes, I am going to buy the less expensive tools and the oil, and give it a try. At the age of 67, I can use a little help in improving my facial skin and riding of unwanted fuzz & little hairs. Thanks!

    1. Ginger, just be careful. The blade should always be at an angle and used in a scraping motion. Don’t be to rough, I dint want you to cut yourself.

  12. Kerri White says:

    Hydro Silk are the best!

  13. Jacque Abell says:

Are the razor ones used only one time?

  14. I purchased a pair of black patent wedge heels for $10 and wear them all the time.
Thanks for educating us gurls on dermablading. I think I will give it a try.

    1. Just be careful. You always use the blade at an angle, not straight ups and down. It is a scraping motion, not a cutting motion.
