Sweater Skirts
The weather was horrible yesterday. The hurricane pushed a front through which included rain, wind, and cooler temperatures. It actually reminded me of the weather my daughter experiences in Alaska. The misty rain, and a low of 57 with a high of 60, was so much like the weather was when I visited her a couple of years ago. She loves it, but me, not so much. I decided to take advantage of the cooler weather and wear a new sweater skirt I bought yesterday. In full disclosure, I must admit that I actually bought two. I love all the different colors of brown’s in this one. I wore a pair of tights, that I already had, under the skirt. This would be the only way I would wear a skirt this short. I do not have pretty legs and you do not need to be subjected to them. You can thank me later.
The boots are my trusty riding boots that go with pretty much everything. If you don’t already own a pair of boots like these, go now. These are a fall “must have”, at least I think so. Here is a gorgeous pair from Macy’s.
I have on a couple of carved bangles in different shades of brown and a handmade bracelet that I picked up last year, from Artistic Icing, that says Amazing Grace. I love wearing this, it never fails to bring me a smile when I look at it. And of course, I like to throw in at least one item that is vintage, and this time it is my purse. This is dark brown patent leather with the middle insert being a lighter brown in suede. Smaller than I would carry on a daily basis, but perfect for taking to church. Not the best angle for me, but here is how the sweater looked from the side. I bought this fisherman sweater last year at Old Navy. This one is very similar.
You might have noticed a subtle change in me. I added pink streaks to my hair for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. These “glue” in and usually last me the entire month of October. I will have a post later in the month about some of the activities I am involved in during this month.
The great thing is, when I walked outside this morning, this was what greeted me. The first song at church this morning was “This is the Day”. How appropriate.
You are absolutely darling and look like a fun and sincere person. ?
Just found your blog through JoLynne Shane. I love all of your outfits and laughed so hard when I read about your not-so-pretty legs. I try to keep my legs covered as much as possible also, so I know exactly what you mean. You look fabulous in the tights. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much Lisa. I really appreciate your taking the time to comment. Us ladies with the no-so-pretty legs really love Fall and Winter. We can just say that tights are a the latest trend. Lol!
Lovely outfit. And what a beautiful day!!
I lost my best friend to breast cancer 2 1/2 years ago. I miss her everyday.
Oh, Brandye, I am so sorry to hear this. I can not even begin to imagine the pain that must still be with you. I can only hope and pray, that in some small way, our actions can save the life of someone by bringing awareness to this disease.
