50 Is Not Old | How To Style A Denim DressThe other day someone, sorry I forgot who, asked me to style a denim dress. Even when I don’t comment back, I do read your comments and will try to accommodate your request when I can. Sometimes I just don’t know the answer, and sometimes it takes me a while to come up with the answer Lol! In this case, I had just purchased a denim dress about a month earlier and had not worn it yet, so I thought this will be a perfect assignment. I immediately started thinking how to style a denim dress casually.50 Is Not Old | How To Style A Denim DressCasual dressing is not something that comes easy for me. Mind you I don’t dress “fancy”, but I do consider my style a little closer to dressy than casual. I like my high heels and my bling, and I don’t usually think of those items in the casual category. I decided to wear the dress casual today, and I will wear it dressy the next time. That way you will be able to see it styled both ways.50 Is Not Old | How To Style A Denim Dress

This denim dress was from Ross, and the one thing I will say about Ross is that they always have the best prices on dresses. This little dress was 14.99. Just think of the possibilities for only 14.99. Here is a similar misses version from JC Penny and here is a plus size version.50 Is Not Old | How To Style A Denim Dress

I chose to wear my gray converse sneakers with the dress today, which made Joe snicker. He doesn’t see me in sneakers very often, so he made fun of me just a little. As my granddaughter Matti says, “I not care!” Haha I was comfortable and “I” thought I looked cute. I will tell you that I think Converse sneakers run large. I normally wear a 9 in a shoe, but I have on an 8. This are snug, so an 8.5 would have worked also, but keep that in mind if you order a pair. Here is a similar pair.50 Is Not Old | How To Style A Denim Dress

I have on a Zuni layering necklace, and a renegade bracelet by Stella & Dot, and a bangle that I bought at TJ Maxx. Even though I was going casual, I just couldn’t make myself not wear some dressy jewelry. If I had a cute leather bracelet, and a leather purse, it would look cute with this look. See, just another way you can style the dress. Or how about cowboy boots, or I bet my yellow vest from Glamour Farms would look cute too.50 Is Not Old | How To Style A Denim Dress

I grabbed my gray cross body purse that I picked up from TJ Maxx a couple months ago, just because it brought the gray of my sneakers together. I sometimes like my shoes and purse to match, I think it is a classy look. I know the trend is not to match, but whatever…. Here is a similar purse.50 Is Not Old | How To Style A Denim DressHere is a look from the back. The dress stays the same length all around. I will try to upload a video at the bottom that will show the outfit from all directions.50 Is Not Old | How To Style A Denim DressI am so glad you stopped by to visit with me this hump day. 1. Very cute! I own 5 denim dresses; very tailored, dressy to super casual. I am with Julie S. – go to Old Navy and pick up a few summer dresses for a quick, easy, pulled together look. I never wear Converse because I have a “big foot” thing – my feet are long and thin and when I wear a wide, flat shoe I feel I look like Clem Ciddle Hopper!

  2. Hi just read your interview on 40 plus style blog. Great responses. Well done Tania. I like your blog because you keep it real and affordable

  3. Like the dress, but not the chuck’s, not on me anyway.

I’m so jealous that your denim dress is has a straight hem. I bought one that goes up on the sides and standing up, it’s great but not to much sitting down. Shows a little tooooo much thigh. Anyway, I was wondering why you didn’t use a colorful bag when I got to your explanation of the gray. It made me chuckle because at 54, I can’t resist the matching aspects sometimes either! Or the fact that I just like one bag better than another bag – “I not care!” Enjoy the rest of your day.

  5. I love your style and you always look fabulous, but the converse shoes with this dress doesn’t work. You could have worn flip flops to make it look casual or a pair of flat sandals.

Cuteness! I have the red converse, and love them!!! they do run a little big I bought 1/2 a size smaller. Look forward to seeing the dressy version of the denim dress!

  7. Very cute!! I think it would look adorable with camel color wedges too!!! Thanks for sharing Tania!

  8. I really really like that denim dress- definitely must get one. I have been on an Old Navy casual dress run lately- come spring/summer I love just being able to plop on a dress, some jewelry, shoes and BOOM- I’m out the door! This little denim number is too cute and will fit right into my routine!
Love the videos!! They really add a little something- allowing us to really ‘see’ the outfit!
Also, congrats on your interview/highlight with 40 Plus Style! It is great to see all your success! 🙂

I haven’t been following you for very long, but since starting, yours is the first email I open every morning. I am learning so much about style and have put together a couple of similar outfits with the clothes that are in my closet. And yesterday was the first time I walked into an Old Navy store ever! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I may actually look “put together stylishly” when I go out.
