SMALL WARDROBE STYLE CHALLENGE – FINALLY
I am sorry that I didn’t have a post for you gurls yesterday. I probably misphrased my problem, I wasn’t sick, I was just plain exhausted. I went to a birthday dinner for my BFF, Sandy, and I got home around 8:30-8:45. I was in bed by 9:00, I was just so tired I couldn’t hold my eyes open. ?? I sound like a big baby, oh you poor little-tired thing. Lol!
I think I need to start taking vitamins again. I don’t know why I have gotten out of that habit, but it is one I need to pick back up. I felt so guilty for not writing the blog, at least for the 3 1/2 minutes it took me to fall asleep. Joe came into the bedroom and woke me up to ask me if I had done my blog post. I might have been a little grouchy as I said I had taken care of it. He knew there was no way that I had written a post after I got home, but he didn’t push the matter.
I know you were waiting to see the latest version of my small wardrobe style challenge. Today I went with the “Mom on the Go” look. This is a look for anyone who just wants to pick up the kids from school, run to the store, or go meet a girlfriend for lunch. Casual but still stylish is what this look says to me. I added a denim jacket from Old Navy over the gray sweater. This keeps me warm in the early mornings and in those freezing restaurants, but I can take it off when it warms up as the day goes on. A denim jacket is one of the “must” haves for your wardrobe. It is so multi-functional and it is very trendy. You take 10 years off your age just by putting on a denim jacket.
I bought these bracelets on my trip to Las Vegas. I did not buy anything else for myself while I was out there, but I did want something from the trip to keep. I am not really into t-shirts, so I didn’t want on of those, but you all know I love jewelry. These are by Alex and Ani. I chose one that had the famous Las Vegas sign on it, one that is called the Endless Knot, and one that is called the Key To Life. The Endless Knot represents wisdom, compassion, and destiny, qualities I could use. The Key To Life represents breakthrough, destiny, and creativity. The card with the bracelet said, “Life is a series of experiences, leading us on a path that ultimately defines us as individuals. When we realize we have the power to unlock our destiny, we hold the key to life. Use positive, conscious thinking and the decisions you make will express your personal power.”
Going casual meant I needed to bring out the Converse sneakers. I love this gray pair with the cute little polka dot tongue. These are the perfect knock around town shoe. Comfortable and stylish, and just like the denim jacket, they take 10 years off your age.
You need to check out the other small wardrobe challenge posts. Here, Here, and Here. I am curious to see which outfit you liked the best. Please leave me a comment about what you thought about this challenge. This was my way of showing you how to shop your own closet. Just because you wore a shirt with a pair of pants once doesn’t mean it has to be worn that way again and again. I have one more idea of styling this differently, but I haven’t taken any pictures. Let me know if you want one more style, or if you are ready to move on already. Lol!

No guilt required when a gal needs her sleep. Nothing can take the years off like being well rested. I love the denim and converse look.

Thanks Rena!
Everybody needs a day off now and then!
I agree, Martha!
I’m happy your rested. I would like to see one more outfit. I love your Converse!!
One more it is!
You are rockin this outfit girl! I love it. I have Chuck Taylors in just about every color. Due to arthritis in my feet I had to retire the high heels and chuckies are just so cute and definitely make a statement. Adorable!
I have never been a sneaker kind of girl, but I like the look of converse. Occasionally I wear high heels too much, so I will pull out my Converse for a day or two.
So much creativity! You have me standing in my clothes closet considering possibilities and future purchases! Thanks
That makes me smile. That is exactly how I pick out outfits! Haha
Sorry I caused you to miss your post, but thank you for being my BFF and taking me to my party! I have a denim jacket so I am set. Love you girl!!!!
I think is has been all the traveling lately that finally caught up with me, not the party. Lol! I had a great time, and can’t wait for us to party tonight.
Loved this week’s series for getting into the winter wardrobe, such great ideas. You have inspired me to get more inventive in my wardrobe and out of a rut. Blessings!
It has forced “ME” to be more inventive, Misty. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into, Haha
I think everyone needs an early to bed night now and then. You have to listen to your body! I enjoyed the series and would love to see you do this with just one piece. It is still in the 80’s around here but thanks for reminding me I have a denim jacket. I hope I can wear it soon!
It is going to be back close to 80 this week too. It looks like one more outfit needs to be on the agenda. Lol!
One of my favorite looks. This is definitely me. You are a smart woman to rest, this happens to all of us. You should take 1 day off a week without blogging . We would understand!
Believe it or not, it stressed me out not to post. Lol!!! I am now addicted to posting and waiting for all of your comments ?
Love this outfit – I was thinking you might add a denim jacket….mainly because I’m a “jacket girl” and love jackets!! 🙂 I love this look…..although I would probably wear the flats with it, instead of the tennis shoes. I liked all of the outfits and variations, but I liked this outfit and the one that included the scarf, the best. Please, please do another variation!! Also, I would love to see another series, showing more tips on shopping my closet and using what I already have on hand.
Glad you were able to rest and “recharge your batteries”….enjoy the rest of the weekend! Blessings to you!
Good guess, Lanita! I am a jacket girl myself. I like that they add warmth and definition. I have a stick type figure, so I can use all the help in making curves that I can get.
