Poncho Series, 1 of 5

DSC_0420The poncho trend is HUGE this fall. There is a really good reason they are so popular, they are comfortable and universally flattering. There is a poncho style for everyone, well at least I think there is. With so many styles to choose from, you just need to get out there and try on some.DSC_0411A lot of ponchos are long, and that can be a problem for people who are height challenged. I liked this style because it is cropped, but the sleeves are still long. The sleeves help to elongate your body, and also have a slimming effect. This top is not technically a poncho, it is probably a batwing top. But, since it only has a seam running down each side to make a sleeve, I am still classifying it as a poncho. Evidently Cato Fashions thinks it is a poncho also, here is the link on their site.DSC_0437I wore a pair of beige skinny corduroy pants from Maurice’s that I bought last year. Here is a similar pair from Old Navy. The fringe booties are by Yoki. Here is a similar pair. DSC_0411_2The purse is old and I think it is Coach. I don’t spend a lot of money on “nicer” clothes, but I do like nice purses. I will keep them for years, whereas I get tired of clothing easily.
DSC_0416I wore gold bangles and earrings, and my gold Michael Kors watch. (gift from friends) Just for fun, I changed up the scarf a little.  DSC_0426And then, I changed the scarf again.DSC_0432And then, I just tried a different scarf. I love the colors on this one, but I didn’t like it in the infinity style. So, I just let it hang long.DSC_0440DSC_0438Fashion is supposed to be fun, so there is no real right or wrong way. If you like it, wear it!

Just found your blog and I love it! You’re so creative. If you don’t mind me asking…what size are you? Weird question, I know but just wondering. Thanks and keep up the good work!

    1. I’m glad you found your way to my blog, Kathryn! I am around 5’6″ (if I haven’t started that whole shrinking thing) and I usually wear a size 10. If it come is S,M, orL, I will usually pick L first, because I hate anything showing my pudge ???? I hope you come back and visit me again????

  2. Love that bright color! And Hi – just got connected to you through the hookup at High Latitude Style. Look forward to reading future posts!

    1. Thanks Adena, I am so glad you found me!

  3. I have finally found 2 ponchos at Talbots! They are really beautiful and not voluminous. One is a cream colored fisherman knit, soft and luxurious. The other is color blocked in black, turquoise and a blue that is almost violet. I love them both and the fabrics are beautiful. I modeled in a fashion show for them on Friday and I received a $50 dollar gift card for Talbots! If you are petite, try Talbots for ponchos. BTW, I found that poncho at Carsons that you “discovered” in your closet Tania—it was big enough on me to be a bed spread! Hahaha.

    1. Oh, lucky you! I could sure run through a gift card at Talbot’s in no time. I am green with envy over the ponchos.

  4. I like the second scarf best. The turquoise just POPS! I never would have thought about turquoise and orange could look so good together. And I’m not really a shoe girl, either. Would still love to have you post to our Fashion Over 40 Pinterest Board if you like.

    1. Thanks Diane. I am looking forward to the series. And, Laura, I would love to post on the pinterest board. Thanks for thinking of me!????

  5. Love the plaid scarf! You can’t go wrong with plaid this year. Not a fan of infinity scarves unless they are double looped around the neck, although wearing it straight does add height to a shorter person. Can’t wait to see the rest of your poncho series!

  6. I am one of those vertically challenged people so have not been able to find a poncho (or long cardigan, for that matter) that does not overwhelm me. I will look for one in a shorter length.

The plaid scarf is my favorite. Look especially at pictures #5 and #6. Isn’t is great how the color of the S in the background brings out the darker stripe of the plaid? Wouldn’t this outfit look great with boots the same color as the S?

I can tell you’re a handbag person. Does that translate to shoes as well? If so, I’m sure you already have a supply of booties in a variety of colors. 😉

Great outfit. I have never purchased from Cato but will check them out.

    1. Riley, your right about the darker color showing on the scarf. I never even noticed that. I do love handbags, but shoes are not my thing. I am trying to buy a few shoes to help with my wardrobe. My outfits sometimes fall apart when it comes to shoes.????
