PLANS SOMETIMES GET CANCELLED
You can plan and plan and plan, but things just don’t pan out like you would want. Plans sometimes get cancelled. I was just looking up Murphy’s Law. It states, that “Anything That Can Go Wrong, Will Go Wrong.” Lol! If you haven’t heard, the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, Florida got cancelled this year because of Hurricane Hermine. Wouldn’t you just know it, the very time I have a trip to Panama City Beach, and a hurricane comes through. There hasn’t been a hurricane in ELEVEN years. Seriously, I hate it for all the folks involved. I hope the destruction is kept to a minimum. I know it will be a big blow to shop owners, hotels, and the city for the lack of money that would have been coming their way this Labor Day.
Joe and I had already packed and we had been on the road for about an hour. He decided to stop and go grab a bite to eat. We each had a salad, after all I was going to have on a bathing suit the next day, and then left. I pulled up my emails, only to see that the event had been cancelled. BUMMER!!! We thought about going somewhere else since we were already packed, but decided in the end to just come back home. I won’t lie, it was somewhat of a let down. I was looking forward to getting away for a few days, just Joe and I, and acting like kids. Oh well, there is always next year! Lol!
After we got home, I unpacked, and then proceeded to but lots and lots of Plunder jewelry. There is a brand new line that just went on sale today, so I ordered several pieces to be able to show you. I told Joe that I had to sacrifice for you gurls. How would you know there was new pieces if I didn’t show them to you. Haha I don’t think he bought it! I am also blown at how nice you gurls are. You could buy Plunder from another stylist, but you choose to buy from me. That is unbelievable!!! I have decided to not be like the cell phone companies, they only give rewards to “new” customers. I think the customers who have been loyal and stick with you also need rewarding. So, I am going to be giving away a necklace this month to two of my customers. I just want to randomly say thank you.
I have on a mixture of vintage and new jewelry today. I purchased the red beads and the red polka dot bangle at a vintage fashion show years ago. These type necklaces are easy to wear either long, medium, or short. They are also very inexpensive. The short hanging arrow necklace is a new addition to my ever growing Plunder jewelry. The necklace is called the Harper, and it has a matching bracelet (Bonny) that I have worn several times. (here and here) If you wish to purchase anything from Plunder, I would appreciate it if you went to my website. You have to type in http://www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens or you can enter my stylist number in the “box” when you go to checkout. #241007
Here is a closeup of my By The Book Bracelets that I bought while visiting my sister last fall. You can purchase these through Christian Books. My favorite bracelet is the one that has Jeremiah 29:11.
Here is another simple T-Strap sandal. This one is by Marc Fisher, and it is really red. I don’t usually wear red shoes. Don’t ask me why, I have no idea. My red sneakers are about the only other red pair I own. Nope, I was wrong, I have a pair of red ankle boots that the District woman’s club bought for me, but I haven’t got to wear them very much.
This is the way I transition into fall. I wear my normal outfits, and will just add a jacket or cardigan. As it gets colder, I will add ankle boots or knee high boots. Of course I will start adding the “fall” colors, but just a little at a time. Today’s dress is a tank dress, so wearing a denim jacket was super easy as a light transition piece. Both of these pieces are from Old Navy. My sister had been raving about her T-Shirt dress that she bought at Old Navy, in black of course, so I thought I would try one. Actually, I ended up trying two!!! You talk about comfortable, these are fabulous. They are a knit swing dress that has a silky feeling and is very flowy. They do not “cling” to you at all, so that is a BIG plus. I hate anything that shows my rolls and bumps.
Old Navy Dress: Short Sleeve | Long SleeveHere is a look from the back. I thought you might like to see the length in the back. My denim jacket is several years old, but they never seem to go out of style.
Denim Jacket: Similar | Similar | PlusThe ladies that won tickets to the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam will still be getting to go to the event, it will just be next year. Haha I have never had plans so far in advance before. I can’t wait to see who will be at next year’s event. I think I may take today off work anyway, I have already made all the necessary arrangements. I can just work on some things I have been wanting to do for the blog, and lay by the pool.
Listen gurls! I am also fixing to celebrate my year anniversary. I want for my anniversary present, (you are getting me something aren’t you) EVERY single person who is reading this to be signed up for my emails. Come on gurls, subscribe to me!
Anytime you would like to share my posts on Facebook or Twitter, I would appreciate that. It helps get my blog out to more people, and I am sure you just want to spread the entertaining sayings I have. Lol!

DAGNABIT knew how much you were looking forward to it. I love Lyle Lovett – one year I bought tickets to go to his concert – I was so excited. Got to the concert and realized it was the night before – I just broke down in tears (the poor man at the ticket booth came out to hug me) 2 years later I finally got to a Lyle Lovett concert and it was AMAZING. So maybe next year for you it will even be better.
I love your spirit, when you said “acting like kids” every one have a child inside! Let me tell you that you looks fantastic and red is your new black.
So sorry your trip was cancelled! Sounds like all in that area just had a lot of rain. I love this outfit, I have a similar dress from Old Navy and this has given me an idea on how to transition it. Mine is short sleeves and I was thinking of adding a denim vest over it until I need a jacket. Thanks for the ideas! Love your blog!
AWWWWW! I am so sorry your plans were spoiled. What a bummer. You look adorable in this outfit. I still hope you have a marvelous week-end.
So sorry, I know you are extremely disappointed and to have already been on the road! Your husband’s response sounds exactly like something my husband would’ve said. Silly guys 🙂 it’s not the same when you’re able to get away as when you’re at home. As far as the outfit you look absolutely adorable I think I have to have it. Don’t think I’d look as cute as you though.
Adorable outfit. And, keeping your attitude young? My daughter has that dress, or one very similar, also from Old Navy! That’s what makes your blog work so well, you show how to wear trends at any age.
Sorry about your trip. Enjoy your weekend anyway.
Tania you have on a cute sweet outfit and smile! So so sorry about the dang hurricane?
Sorry your trip was cancelled. Just be thankful you had not made the entire trip to Florida before it was cancelled. Last fall our family went to the OBX for the first time. A family vacation. Needless to say we spent most of the week watching the weather channel…a hurricane came through. We had one good day weather wise. Left one day early. Water poured in to the rented beach front home through the slider door and bathroom window.
sorry about your trip! your outfit is cute and I think I see a little different hairstyle!! I love your color!
speaking of Plunder! I spent almost an hour today browsing their site, I created an account and picked several items to put in my cart, all while
shopping with you!!! so far so good, but then I couldn’t find any way to get to a shopping cart link on their site to edit any of my items or to check out! man am I just dumb or has anyone else had a problem with their website? I got so frustrated I finally just closed it out! I’m a seasoned online shopper and that’s a first for me, not being able to find your shopping cart LOL!! and I was in the buying mood dangit
Well you just look like a teenager today Tania. A very cute look
Im a newbie to your blog and instagram. Love this look ……. do you ever give into on your handbags you wear? You have great taste in those as well as clothing.
Usually I do include handbag links. I was just running late, and forgot. I am so glad you found my blog, I hope you keep coming back.
So sorry to hear our trip was cancelled due to the hurricane in FL. But I loved your outfit and jewelry!! As you do upcoming posts about transitioning to fall (and other seasons), I would like to see you give advice about pairing colors and textures together. I am a “matchy, matchy” girl, but I know there are people that use the color wheel to pair outfits together, but I’ve never really heard or been taught how you do that. I would love to mix and match colors that you might not think to pair together. Looking forward to your fall outfits….my favorite season of the year! Happy Weekend! 🙂
I’m genuinely disappointed for you! You could still go somewhere, it’s not too late!!
I am sooooooo…. sorry. How disappointing. I was looking forward to all your exciing details. You look great in the outfit!!
Good grief Charlie Brown, I’m so sorry the Gulf Coast Jam was cancelled! I can feel the disappointment coming through my computer screen. I read somewhere this morning that 100,000 people in Florida are without power, so I am definitely feeling bad for them too. I’ve been in hurricanes before and there’s nothing remotely amusing about them! On a lighter note, I’m excited to see what you will have prepared for us gurls this coming fall with your outfits and new Plunder jewelry!
Well shoot, you and Joe should’ve gone somewhere! I’m sad for you, Joe and everybody that was going. I really think sometimes, that things happen for a reason. I would hate for you to get washed away. Who would model her cute stuff everyday? Have a great weekend and get some R & R.
So sorry to hear your plans were cancelled Tania!
Also praying the hurricane is not too bad.
Have a lovely day anyway.

How do you store all your jewelry so that you can see it?
That’s exactly what I have been wondering! Tania, please show us how you store and organize your jewelry….pretty please with a cherry on top.
So sorry your plans were cancelled. You know that saying…something like this…”Make plans and God laughs!” I do pray that the damage will be light and people will be safe.
I loved red so yes, I wear red shoes! 🙂 Seems my wardrobe consists of black, black & white, red and denim. I’ve not heard of this jewelry line. Will have to check it out. One of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11.
Enjoy your weekend! Be safe and have fun ~ 🙂
Pat
So sorry the event was cancelled, I know you were looking forward to it. Saying prayers for the people in the way of the hurricane. Love your blog, you have a great personality & love your style. Thanks for all you do for us!
I’m so sorry to hear your plans got cancelled. I know you must be very disappointed but I must say you seem to be handling it pretty well. If I was you I think I would have just kept driving … anywhere! LOL. But, hey, at least you got to shop for more jewelry! HA I hope the rest of your weekend is absolutely wonderful!
And I do pray that Hurricane Hermine either changes course or does very little damage.
Pretend you are there and show us what you had planned to wear this weekend!
I’ll think about it Mary Ann ?
Oh, sorry to hear that 🙁
But that shade of your lipstick suits you!!!
Thanks Hanka!!!
I was thinking of you this morning when the first thing I did was look up how the hurricane affected Panama City! Then I saw your blog email. So sorry, what bad timing! Love your blog and all your cute outfits, including today. I have a denim jacket like yours that I have had for a few years and wear all the time.
Just have to say your outfit is adorable even if you only got to wear it in the car for a couple of hours. The red lipstick looks really good.
So sorry to hear that your trip is off! But if you get bored you can always hit the Labor Day sales. Praying for the people in Panama City.
I very well may hit the Labor Day sales. hahaha
I was so sorry to hear your event was cancelled! Such a heartbreak. Years ago, I was all set to finally get to see my heartthrob, Bobby Sherman, nearby. Packed up, booked a hotel and went off with my husband and friends, only to be turned away from the event gate. Someone had embezzled the funds and it was suddenly cancelled. Thinking your heart took a turn down like mine did that day. Luckily, I had another chance to meet him in 2000. You will get to see them in concert another time, for sure.
Do something extra fun at home this long weekend!
Great outfit, as always.
Bobby Sherman was a cutie!!! My heartthrob was Donnie Osmond and Davy Jones.Lol!
So sorry Tania! You should have driven west of Panama City to our beautiful Pensacola. Our beach is one of the most beautiful in the world. I also love this swing dress from Old Navy. It is so comfy and as you said doesn’t cling to you. Enjoy your long weekend and Thank you for your wonderful blog. Love the red shoes!
So sorry about the cancellation and storm. What a stinky thing to have happen. ? I know how disappointing it must be. We live on the south east coast and only had to deal with rain and lightning. Praying not too much damage for people in the path.
Now to your outfit – how cute and fun looking. And of best of all it looks comfy. Hope your day is blessed and enjoy the time off.
Love the look you have put together for today! The red bead necklace and red sandals really make your outfit pop. I am a big fan of long necklaces like the red one you are wearing in the pic, because you can create so many styles with them. Hope you enjoy the long Labor Day weekend despite your trip being cancelled.
What a disappointment!!! But you still look GREAT! Follow you every morning with my cup of joe!! Ha Ha
What a disappointment! Sorry, as I know how much you have been looking forward to this getaway!
Weather, amIright?
I do love this look. This would be my uniform every day if I could.
Time to get over The Red Shoe Thing, my dear! These look darling on you!
Bettye
Thanks Bettye. ?
So sorry to hear about it being cancelled. I was looking forward to hearing all about it and I’m sure you are disappointed but especially the part of just getting away for a few days with Joe.
He reminded me that we still had a few days together, it would just be at home. Haha
Oh Tania what rotten luck, I know how much you’ve been looking forward to your trip ☹️ As your other lovely gurls have said, we must spare a thought for the poor people that have got to live through the hurricane. I haven’t had a denim jacket for years and I’ve been considering getting a new one but I’m not sure whether to go for a lighter denim or a dark one…
Caroline, I have the shade of Tania’s denim jacket and found that it goes with a lot of my clothes. I like wearing darker denim jeans as the darker shade is more slimming on me. So if I wear a darker jacket it usually doesn’t match very well with my darker jeans. I’m not sure what the shade Tania is wearing but that shade goes very well with black, white, gray….actually many neutral colors….does that make sense????. I hope that helps you decide. ~Lisa~
Makes perfect sense to me Lisa! I call this shade medium, I am not sure what it’s official name would be.
Thank you Lisa, I will look out for this shade ?
I have always preferred a medium color. Dark colors look richer, the really faded light ones look worn out, so the medium tone is the one that calls out to me.
I’m not even going and I’m let down too ☹️. I was looking forward to hearing all about it through you and seeing what you were going to wear. The main thing is people’s safety. I will pray for the ones that may experience the bad weather. Enjoy your day off and Labor Day Weekend. ~Lisa~
I really hope everyone is alright this morning. I see there are a lot of those without power. Please continue to pray for all those who are in the path of this storm.
So sorry your plans fell thru.
Oh, so sorry to hear that! And you were do looking forward to it. I hope the people there haven’t got much damage.
I love denim jackets on dresses, and these stripes look very good compared with the red. Hope to see you today on Fancy Friday link up!
So sorry, Tania! I feel so bad for you! ?
