PLANS SOMETIMES GET CANCELLED
You can plan and plan and plan, but things just don’t pan out like you would want. Plans sometimes get cancelled. I was just looking up Murphy’s Law. It states, that “Anything That Can Go Wrong, Will Go Wrong.” Lol! If you haven’t heard, the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, Florida got cancelled this year because of Hurricane Hermine. Wouldn’t you just know it, the very time I have a trip to Panama City Beach, and a hurricane comes through. There hasn’t been a hurricane in ELEVEN years. Seriously, I hate it for all the folks involved. I hope the destruction is kept to a minimum. I know it will be a big blow to shop owners, hotels, and the city for the lack of money that would have been coming their way this Labor Day.
Joe and I had already packed and we had been on the road for about an hour. He decided to stop and go grab a bite to eat. We each had a salad, after all I was going to have on a bathing suit the next day, and then left. I pulled up my emails, only to see that the event had been cancelled. BUMMER!!! We thought about going somewhere else since we were already packed, but decided in the end to just come back home. I won’t lie, it was somewhat of a let down. I was looking forward to getting away for a few days, just Joe and I, and acting like kids. Oh well, there is always next year! Lol!
After we got home, I unpacked, and then proceeded to but lots and lots of Plunder jewelry. There is a brand new line that just went on sale today, so I ordered several pieces to be able to show you. I told Joe that I had to sacrifice for you gurls. How would you know there was new pieces if I didn’t show them to you. Haha I don’t think he bought it! I am also blown at how nice you gurls are. You could buy Plunder from another stylist, but you choose to buy from me. That is unbelievable!!! I have decided to not be like the cell phone companies, they only give rewards to “new” customers. I think the customers who have been loyal and stick with you also need rewarding. So, I am going to be giving away a necklace this month to two of my customers. I just want to randomly say thank you.
I have on a mixture of vintage and new jewelry today. I purchased the red beads and the red polka dot bangle at a vintage fashion show years ago. These type necklaces are easy to wear either long, medium, or short. They are also very inexpensive. The short hanging arrow necklace is a new addition to my ever growing Plunder jewelry. The necklace is called the Harper, and it has a matching bracelet (Bonny) that I have worn several times. (here and here) If you wish to purchase anything from Plunder, I would appreciate it if you went to my website. You have to type in http://www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens or you can enter my stylist number in the “box” when you go to checkout. #241007
Here is a closeup of my By The Book Bracelets that I bought while visiting my sister last fall. You can purchase these through Christian Books. My favorite bracelet is the one that has Jeremiah 29:11.
Here is another simple T-Strap sandal. This one is by Marc Fisher, and it is really red. I don’t usually wear red shoes. Don’t ask me why, I have no idea. My red sneakers are about the only other red pair I own. Nope, I was wrong, I have a pair of red ankle boots that the District woman’s club bought for me, but I haven’t got to wear them very much.
This is the way I transition into fall. I wear my normal outfits, and will just add a jacket or cardigan. As it gets colder, I will add ankle boots or knee high boots. Of course I will start adding the “fall” colors, but just a little at a time. Today’s dress is a tank dress, so wearing a denim jacket was super easy as a light transition piece. Both of these pieces are from Old Navy. My sister had been raving about her T-Shirt dress that she bought at Old Navy, in black of course, so I thought I would try one. Actually, I ended up trying two!!! You talk about comfortable, these are fabulous. They are a knit swing dress that has a silky feeling and is very flowy. They do not “cling” to you at all, so that is a BIG plus. I hate anything that shows my rolls and bumps.
Old Navy Dress: Short Sleeve | Long SleeveHere is a look from the back. I thought you might like to see the length in the back. My denim jacket is several years old, but they never seem to go out of style.
Denim Jacket: Similar | Similar | PlusThe ladies that won tickets to the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam will still be getting to go to the event, it will just be next year. Haha I have never had plans so far in advance before. I can’t wait to see who will be at next year’s event. I think I may take today off work anyway, I have already made all the necessary arrangements. I can just work on some things I have been wanting to do for the blog, and lay by the pool.
Listen gurls! I am also fixing to celebrate my year anniversary. I want for my anniversary present, (you are getting me something aren’t you) EVERY single person who is reading this to be signed up for my emails. Come on gurls, subscribe to me!

DAGNABIT knew how much you were looking forward to it. I love Lyle Lovett – one year I bought tickets to go to his concert – I was so excited. Got to the concert and realized it was the night before – I just broke down in tears (the poor man at the ticket booth came out to hug me) 2 years later I finally got to a Lyle Lovett concert and it was AMAZING. So maybe next year for you it will even be better.
I love your spirit, when you said “acting like kids” every one have a child inside! Let me tell you that you looks fantastic and red is your new black.
So sorry your trip was cancelled! Sounds like all in that area just had a lot of rain. I love this outfit, I have a similar dress from Old Navy and this has given me an idea on how to transition it. Mine is short sleeves and I was thinking of adding a denim vest over it until I need a jacket. Thanks for the ideas! Love your blog!
AWWWWW! I am so sorry your plans were spoiled. What a bummer. You look adorable in this outfit. I still hope you have a marvelous week-end.
So sorry, I know you are extremely disappointed and to have already been on the road! Your husband’s response sounds exactly like something my husband would’ve said. Silly guys 🙂 it’s not the same when you’re able to get away as when you’re at home. As far as the outfit you look absolutely adorable I think I have to have it. Don’t think I’d look as cute as you though.
Adorable outfit. And, keeping your attitude young? My daughter has that dress, or one very similar, also from Old Navy! That’s what makes your blog work so well, you show how to wear trends at any age.
Sorry about your trip. Enjoy your weekend anyway.
Tania you have on a cute sweet outfit and smile! So so sorry about the dang hurricane?
Sorry your trip was cancelled. Just be thankful you had not made the entire trip to Florida before it was cancelled. Last fall our family went to the OBX for the first time. A family vacation. Needless to say we spent most of the week watching the weather channel…a hurricane came through. We had one good day weather wise. Left one day early. Water poured in to the rented beach front home through the slider door and bathroom window.
