Opposites Attract
I have always heard that opposites attract, but I just thought that referred to love. However, I now see that it can apply to fashion. Black and white, stripes and houndstooth, are opposites that just go together.
There is just something about this outfit that I love. I can’t really put my finger on the exact reason. I have always loved black and white, it is of course such a classic combination. Stripes and houndstooth are also classic patterns, but until recently, they were not patterns I would have worn at the same time.
This sweater is from Cato, and the zipper embellishments turn an ordinary sweater, into something extraordinary. But let be honest gurls, the black panels on the sides are really slimming. I was looking on the Cato’s website and passed up the sweater, I finally found it on the second pass through. I like the way I have it styled, better than the way they did. Haha
This necklace is one of my Stella & Dot purchases from my trunk show. I like that all the pieces come apart, so you can wear this in several different ways. The earrings are from Chloe & Isabel. These are really nice pieces, however I would probably never have purchased either if I hadn’t had a trunk show which allowed me to have several half priced items, and even some free money.
The bracelet is a Stella & Dot purchase from last year’s trunk show. Haha It is now retired, but here it is on ebay. The purse is a vintage find from way back. It caught my eye, because of the gold closure. I just think it looks smart. I take every opportunity I can, to look smart. Lol! The houndstooth pixie pants came from Old Navy, last year I think. I bought these shoes ages ago. They are at least 3 years old, and are Michael Kors.
Yesterday a lady commented on my Facebook page, “ENOUGH, Get over yourself”! I have to admit that my first response was to laugh. Actually, I snorted loudly. My second response was, really lady? You can simply hit the unlike button, why do you feel the need to be snarky? In reality, this is the very reason I have not made my blog known to those in my community. So how do I have a blog on fashion, post pictures, and tell stories about myself, and it not be about me? At the same time, I don’t want to be like, “ain’t I something”. So, I am now putting you guys on the “Calm yourself down” patrol. After all, my charming wit should be center stage. Lol!

Happy girls don’t hate and hatin’ girls ain’t happy.
Carry on…..
My first reaction was NOT to laugh. But I think I speak for both me and our mother, we will never let you be all “ain’t I something!” We’ll let you know. Until then, keep on truckin’! xo
Don’t listen to her! I always enjoy your blog!
I am so sorry. I just don’t understand people who do this. Please don’t take this to heart. Many, many of us really enjoy your blog.
She needs to remember manners. If you can’t say something nice say nothing at all. I love your blog and read it everyday. I like to see how far you take your fashion and challenge us to try new ways of wearing. From what I have come to know the people who complain are not really mad at you. You are just a public target. Have fun, laugh loud often and continue what you are doing. You are a real inspiration to me.
Oh my goodness, thanks ladies. My mother called me and was so mad at the lady, but there will always be someone out there with a negative attitude. In the words of the great Taylor Swift, “Haters gonna hate”. LOL!!!
“Get over yourself”?? Seriously? Umm – this is YOUR blog! I personally love your style and have gotten several ideas for outfits so I hope you will continue just as you are!
Pay no mind to the negativity……. keep doing your thing. I pinned something on Pinterest yesterday – “Call me crazy, but I love to see people happy and succeeding . Life is a journey, not a competition.” We’ll just pray for those haters 😉
Keep it up gurl. Haters gonna hate. The rest of us are enjoying your blog.
Looking very smart indeed! 🙂 I love that sweater and agree you styled it much better, you should be a model on their website. I’ve never heard of Cato…..can’t wait to check it out! What size sweater are you wearing? By the way, people who leave negative comments like that are miserable….tell them to take their negativity and hit the road.
Funny, the lady with the ‘get over yourself’ comment may need to get into herself. A bit of self love goes a long way.
I love the little black purse!
I wear a lot of black.
Keep it up, girlie!
