NOT TODAY SATAN
Have you ever said the words, “Not Today, Satan!” I know that I have said them over and over again because I want him to know that I see his tricks, and I am not falling for them. The problem is, he is very, very good at being deceptive and I don’t always catch his lies and tricksSatan is a lier, a deceiver, and he will stoop to any level to draw you away from the Lord. I think that his biggest weapon is our thoughts. He knows that where the mind goes, your life goes. Satan knows that the best way to deceive you is to tell you a lie with just enough truth, that you will believe him. He will put this thought in your mind, and each time that he adds another layer to the thought, he will add more and more lies. Finally, all of the truth is lost, and you are left with nothing but the lies.
Here is an example of some of satan’s work: Let’s say you got a promotion at work and he tells you that you have worked hard and you deserved the promotion. Then he tells you that you are the reason that all of your co-workers got their work done. The next whisper might be, “if it weren’t for you, the whole company would be in shambles.” Satan started with the truth; you did work hard for your promotion. Then, he quickly started taking all credit from the Lord and started instilling “prideful thoughts,” and it was all ME thoughts.
Satan knows our biggest struggles, and he will use them against us every chance he gets. If you struggle with pride, then the above story might be something that he could use against you. You might struggle with trust issues because you have had people betray you in the past. He will even use the people you love and trust the most. Satan will try and plant seeds of distrust in your mind that can lead you down a path of lies.
Matthew 16:23
23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
My biggest struggle is that I worry too much. I worry about my children, my health, my businesses, and my marriage. It doesn’t matter what area of my life you are addressing; I am sure that there is something that I can worry about. Satan knows this about me, and I am in a constant battle with him regarding this issue. He tries to get me to forget that the Lord is on MY side. The Lord loves me, and He is keeping a watchful eye on me. Satan doesn’t have any power to create problems; he only has the potential to use something that already exists against us.
James 4:7
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
If satan can worm his way into your thoughts, then he has wormed his way into your life. He is well aware that you are not going to come to him on your own, so he has to use your thoughts against you. It would be nice if he could only come into your house, thoughts, or work if he were invited. But, he is not a vampire, so he is not bound by invitations. But, you can cast him out of all of those places by calling upon the name of the Lord.
Matthew 4:10
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’
Satan will try to blind you to the Lord; he will tell you that the Lord is not real. But, you don’t have to fall for his tricks, you can instead question your thoughts. Where are the thoughts coming from; are they negative, judgemental, or questioning your trust in the Lord?
We may not be able to rid the world of satan, but if we can become aware of his tricks, then we take away his power.
NOT TODAY, SATAN! And, just in case you were wondering…tomorrow’s not looking good for you either!
Have A Blessed Day!
Oh what a beautiful, heart-felt lesson! Thank you SO much for your Sunday sharing! This is SO true – he knows exactly where our weaknesses lie & that’s how he takes us away from God. Mine is thinking I don’t belong or someone doesn’t like me! I have to struggle w/that and I don’t think often enough of telling satan to Get The Behind Me!
Paul had his struggles & temptations and when I think, he was shipwrecked, beaten, thrown in jail among other things, it makes my problems seem small. He kept the faith through all that and we can too. Like Tania we have to resist when Satan comes knocking. Shut the door in his face and don’t give him an opening. Thank you Tania for being here for us. Sometimes the warrior is a child and needs help from others.
